First of all, we recall several important algorithms suitable for gain-scheduling method including gain-scheduled proportional-integral derivative (PID) control, H 2, H ∞ and mixed H 2 / H ∞ gain-scheduling methods as well as fuzzy gain-scheduling techniques. Secondly, various important parameter-varying system models are reviewed, for which gain-scheduled control and filtering issues are usually dealt with. In particular, in view of the randomly occurring phenomena with time-varying probability distributions, some results of our recent work based on the probability-dependent gain-scheduling methods are reviewed. Furthermore, some latest progress in this area is discussed. Finally, conclusions are drawn and several potential future research directions are outlined. The National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grants 61074016, 61374039, 61304010, and 61329301; the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province of China under Grant BK20130766; the Program for Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar) at Shanghai Institutions of Higher Learning; the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University under Grant NCET-11-1051, the Leverhulme Trust of the U.K., the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

Robust normalization and guaranteed cost control for a class of uncertain singular Markovian jump systems via hybrid impulsive control

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the problem of robust normalization and guaranteed cost control for a class of uncertain singular Markovian jump systems. The uncertainties exhibit in both system matrices and transition rate matrix of the Markovian chain. A new impulsive and proportional-derivative control strategy is presented, where the derivative gain is to make the closed-loop system of the singular plant to be a normal one, and the impulsive control part is to make the value of the Lyapunov function does not increase at each time instant of the Markovian switching. A linearization approach via congruence transformations is proposed to solve the controller design problem. The cost function is minimized via solving an optimization problem under the designed control scheme. Finally, three examples (two numerical examples and an RC pulse divider circuit example) are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed methods

Variance-constrained multiobjective control and filtering for nonlinear stochastic systems: A survey

    Get PDF
The multiobjective control and filtering problems for nonlinear stochastic systems with variance constraints are surveyed. First, the concepts of nonlinear stochastic systems are recalled along with the introduction of some recent advances. Then, the covariance control theory, which serves as a practical method for multi-objective control design as well as a foundation for linear system theory, is reviewed comprehensively. The multiple design requirements frequently applied in engineering practice for the use of evaluating system performances are introduced, including robustness, reliability, and dissipativity. Several design techniques suitable for the multi-objective variance-constrained control and filtering problems for nonlinear stochastic systems are discussed. In particular, as a special case for the multi-objective design problems, the mixed H 2 / H ∞ control and filtering problems are reviewed in great detail. Subsequently, some latest results on the variance-constrained multi-objective control and filtering problems for the nonlinear stochastic systems are summarized. Finally, conclusions are drawn, and several possible future research directions are pointed out

Filtering for discrete-time nonhomogeneous Markov jump systems with uncertainties

    Get PDF
This paper studies the problem of robust H1 filtering for a class of uncertain discrete-time nonhomogeneous Markov jump systems. The time-varying jump transition probability matrix is described by a polytope. By Lyapunov function approach, mode-dependent and variation-dependent H1 filter is designed such that the resulting error dynamic system is stochastically stable and has a prescribed H1 performance index. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed techniques

This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Some recent advances on the recursive filtering and sliding mode design problems for nonlinear stochastic systems with network-induced phenomena are surveyed. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include missing measurements, fading measurements, signal quantization, probabilistic sensor delays, sensor saturations, randomly occurring nonlinearities, and randomly occurring uncertainties. With respect to these network-induced phenomena, the developments on filtering and sliding mode design problems are systematically reviewed. In particular, concerning the network-induced phenomena, some recent results on the recursive filtering for time-varying nonlinear stochastic systems and sliding mode design for time-invariant nonlinear stochastic systems are given, respectively. Finally, conclusions are proposed and some potential future research works are pointed out. This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant nos. 61134009, 61329301, 61333012, 61374127 and 11301118, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant no. Novel Stabilization Conditions for Uncertain Singular Systems with Time-Varying Delay

    Get PDF
The problem of delay-dependent robust stabilization for continuously singular time-varying delay systems with norm-bounded uncertainties is investigated in this paper. First, based on some mathematical transform, the uncertain singular system is described in a form which involves the time-delay integral items. Then, in terms of the delay-range-dependent Lyapunov functional and the LMI technique, the improved delay-dependent LMIs-based conditions are established for the uncertain singular systems with time-varying delay to be regular, causal, and stable. Furthermore, by solving these LMIs, an explicit expression for the desired state feedback control law can be obtained; thus, the regularity, causality, and stability of the closed-loop system are guaranteed. In the end, numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods

This paper discusses H∞ control problems of continuous-time and discrete-time singular Markovian jump systems (SMJSs) with bounded transition probabilities. Improved sufficient conditions for continuous-time SMJSs to be regular, impulse free, and stochastically stable with γ-disturbance attenuation are established via less conservative inequality to estimate the transition jump rates, so are the discrete-time SMJSs. With the obtained conditions, the design of a state feedback controller which ensures the resulting closed-loop system to be stochastically admissible and with H∞ performance is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, illustrative examples are presented to show the effectiveness and the benefits of the proposed approaches

Stability Analysis for Markovian Jump Neutral Systems with Mixed Delays and Partially Known Transition Rates

The delay-dependent stability problem is studied for Markovian jump neutral systems with partial information on transition probabilities, and the considered delays are mixed and model dependent. By constructing the new stochastic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, which combined the introduced free matrices with the analysis technique of matrix inequalities, a sufficient condition for the systems with fully known transition rates is firstly established. Then, making full use of the transition rate matrix, the results are obtained for the other case, and the uncertain neutral Markovian jump system with incomplete transition rates is also considered. Finally, to show the validity of the obtained results, three numerical examples are provided
