    A review of convex approaches for control, observation and safety of linear parameter varying and Takagi-Sugeno systems

    This paper provides a review about the concept of convex systems based on Takagi-Sugeno, linear parameter varying (LPV) and quasi-LPV modeling. These paradigms are capable of hiding the nonlinearities by means of an equivalent description which uses a set of linear models interpolated by appropriately defined weighing functions. Convex systems have become very popular since they allow applying extended linear techniques based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to complex nonlinear systems. This survey aims at providing the reader with a significant overview of the existing LMI-based techniques for convex systems in the fields of control, observation and safety. Firstly, a detailed review of stability, feedback, tracking and model predictive control (MPC) convex controllers is considered. Secondly, the problem of state estimation is addressed through the design of proportional, proportional-integral, unknown input and descriptor observers.     Robust sliding mode control for discrete stochastic systems with mixed time delays, randomly occurring uncertainties, and randomly occurring nonlinearities

Both the sectorlike nonlinearities and the norm-bounded uncertainties enter into the system in random ways, and such randomly occurring uncertainties and randomly occurring nonlinearities obey certain mutually uncorrelated Bernoulli distributed white noise sequences. The mixed time delays consist of both the discrete and the distributed delays. The time-varying delays are allowed in state. By employing the idea of delay fractioning and constructing a new Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, sufficient conditions are established to ensure the stability of the system dynamics in the specified sliding surface by solving a certain semidefinite programming problem. A full-state feedback SMC law is designed to guarantee the reaching condition.     Modelling and Fast Terminal Sliding Mode Control for Mirror-based Pointing Systems

    In this paper, we present a new discrete-time Fast Terminal Sliding Mode (FTSM) controller for mirror-based pointing systems. We first derive the decoupled model of those systems and then estimate the parameters using a nonlinear least-square identification method. Based on the derived model, we design a FTSM sliding manifold in the continuous domain. We then exploit the Euler discretization on the designed FTSM sliding surfaces to synthesize a discrete-time controller. Furthermore, we improve the transient dynamics of the sliding surface by adding a linear term. Finally, we prove the stability of the proposed controller based on the Sarpturk reaching condition. Extensive simulations, followed by comparisons with the Terminal Sliding Mode (TSM) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) have been carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. A comparative study with data obtained from a real-time experiment was also conducted.     Predictive input delay compensation for motion control systems

    This paper presents an analytical approach for the prediction of future motion to be used in input delay compensation of time-delayed motion control systems. The method makes use of the current and previous input values given to a nominally behaving system in order to realize the prediction of the future motion of that system. The generation of the future input is made through an integration which is realized in discrete time setting. Once the future input signal is created, it is used as the reference input of the remote system to enforce an input time delayed system, conduct a delay-free motion. Following the theoretical formulation, the proposed method is tested in experiments and the validity of the approach is verified

    Circle grid fractal plate as a turbulent generator for premixed flame: an overview

    This review paper focuses to ascertain a new approach in turbulence generation on the structure of premixed flames and external combustion using a fractal grid pattern. This review paper discusses the relationship between fractal pattern and turbulence flow. Many researchers have explored the fractal pattern as a new concept of turbulence generators, but researchers rarely study fractal turbulence generators on the structure premixed flame. The turbulent flow field characteristics have been studied tand investigated in a premixed combustion application. In terms of turbulence intensity, most researchers used fractal grid that can be tailored so that they can design the characteristic needed in premixed flame. This approach makes it extremely difficult to determine the exact turbulent burning velocity on the velocity fluctuation of the flow. The decision to carry out additional research on the effect circle grid fractal plate as a turbulent generator for premixed flame should depends on the blockage ratio and fractal pattern of the grid. 1

    Robust nonlinear generalised predictive control for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems via an integral sliding mode approach

    In this paper, a robust nonlinear generalised predictive control (GPC) method is proposed by combining an integral sliding mode approach. The composite controller can guarantee zero steady-state error for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems in the presence of both matched and unmatched disturbances. Indeed, it is well known that the traditional GPC based on Taylor series expansion cannot completely reject unknown disturbance and achieve offset-free tracking performance. To deal with this problem, the existing approaches are enhanced by avoiding the use of the disturbance observer and modifying the gain function of the nonlinear integral sliding surface. This modified strategy appears to be more capable of achieving both the disturbance rejection and the nominal prescribed specifications for matched disturbance. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach
