    Robust H∞ control for a class of nonlinear discrete time-delay stochastic systems with missing measurements

The official published version can be obtained from the link - Copyright 2009 Elsevier LtdThis paper is concerned with the problem of robust H∞ output feedback control for a class of uncertain discrete-time delayed nonlinear stochastic systems with missing measurements. The parameter uncertainties enter into all the system matrices, the time-varying delay is unknown with given low and upper bounds, the nonlinearities satisfy the sector conditions, and the missing measurements are described by a binary switching sequence that obeys a conditional probability distribution. The problem addressed is the design of an output feedback controller such that, for all admissible uncertainties, the resulting closed-loop system is exponentially stable in the mean square for the zero disturbance input and also achieves a prescribed H∞ performance level. By using the Lyapunov method and stochastic analysis techniques, sufficient conditions are first derived to guarantee the existence of the desired controllers, and then the controller parameters are characterized in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). A numerical example is exploited to show the usefulness of the results obtained.This paper was not presented at any IFAC meeting. The system under study involves stochastics, unknown state time-delay, parameter uncertainties, and unknown nonlinear disturbances, which are all often encountered in practice and the sources of instability. The aim of this problem is to design a linear, delayless, uncertainty-independent state estimator such that for all admissible uncertainties as well as nonlinear disturbances, the dynamics of the estimation error is stochastically exponentially stable in the mean square, independent of the time delay. Sufficient conditions are proposed to guarantee the existence of desired robust exponential filters, which are derived in terms of the solutions to algebraic Riccati inequalities.     Robust mixed H-2/H∞ control for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems

    The problem of mixed H2/H∞ control is considered for a class of uncertain discrete-time nonlinear stochastic systems. The nonlinearities are described by statistical means of the stochastic variables and the uncertainties are represented by deterministic norm-bounded parameter perturbations. The mixed H2/H∞ control problem is formulated in terms of the notion of exponentially mean-square quadratic stability and the characterisations of both the H2 control performance and the H∞ robustness performance. A new technique is developed to deal with the matrix trace terms arising from the stochastic nonlinearities and the well-known S-procedure is adopted to handle the deterministic uncertainities. A unified framework is established to solve the addressed mixed H2/H∞ control problem using a linear matrix inequality approach. Within such a framework, two additional optimisation problems are discussed, one is to optimise the H∞ robustness performance, and the other is to optimise the H2 control performance.     Robust and Resilient State Dependent Control of Discrete-Time Nonlinear Systems with General Performance Criteria

    A novel state dependent control approach for discrete-time nonlinear systems with general performance criteria is presented. This controller is robust for unstructured model uncertainties, resilient against bounded feedback control gain perturbations in achieving optimality for general performance criteria to secure quadratic optimality with inherent asymptotic stability property together with quadratic dissipative type of disturbance reduction. For the system model, unstructured uncertainty description is assumed, which incorporates commonly used types of uncertainties, such as norm-bounded and positive real uncertainties as special cases. By solving a state dependent linear matrix inequality at each time step, sufficient condition for the control solution can be found which satisfies the general performance criteria. The results of this paper unify existing results on nonlinear quadratic regulator, H∞ and positive real control to provide a novel robust control design. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is demonstrated by simulation of the control of inverted pendulum

    Robust H∞ filtering for markovian jump systems with randomly occurring nonlinearities and sensor saturation: The finite-horizon case

Two kinds of transition probability matrices for the Markovian process are considered, namely, the one with polytopic uncertainties and the one with partially unknown entries. The nonlinear disturbances are assumed to occur randomly according to stochastic variables satisfying the Bernoulli distributions. The main purpose of this paper is to design a robust filter, over a given finite-horizon, such that the H∞ disturbance attenuation level is guaranteed for the time-varying Markovian jump systems in the presence of both the randomly occurring nonlinearities and the sensor saturation. Sufficient conditions are established for the existence of the desired filter satisfying the H∞ performance constraint in terms of a set of recursive linear matrix inequalities. In the system under investigation, all the system parameters are allowed to be time-varying, the parameter uncertainties are assumed to be of the polytopic type, and the stochastic nonlinearities are described by statistical means which can cover several classes of well-studied nonlinearities. The purpose of the problem addressed is to design an output feedback controller, over a given finite-horizon, such that the H∞ disturbance attenuation level is guaranteed for the nonlinear stochastic polytopic system in the presence of saturated sensor and actuator outputs. Sufficient conditions are first established for the robust H∞ performance through intensive stochastic analysis, and then a recursive linear matrix inequality (RLMI) approach is employed to design the desired output feedback controller achieving the prescribed H∞ disturbance rejection level.
