    Real Time Implementation of Fuzzy Adaptive PI-sliding Mode Controller for Induction Machine Control

    In this work, a fuzzy adaptive PI-sliding mode control is proposed for Induction Motor speed control. First, an adaptive PI-sliding mode controller with a proportional plus integral equivalent control action is investigated, in which a simple adaptive algorithm is utilized for generalized soft-switching parameters. The proposed control design uses a fuzzy inference system to overcome the drawbacks of the sliding mode control in terms of high control gains and chattering to form a fuzzy sliding mode controller. The proposed controller has implemented for a 1.5kW three-Phase IM are completely carried out using a dSPACE DS1104 digital signal processor based real-time data acquisition control system, and MATLAB/Simulink environment. Digital experimental results show that the proposed controller can not only attenuate the chattering extent of the adaptive PI-sliding mode controller but can provide high-performance dynamic characteristics with regard to plant external load disturbance and reference variations.

    A fixed-time second order sliding mode observer for a class of nonlinear systems

    This paper presents a second order fixed time sliding mode observer based on an extension of the super-twisting algorithm. This observer can be applied to a class of nonlinear system with a block-wise representation. The block structure provides a straightforward form to the application of the proposed second order sliding mode algorithm, yielding to finite-time convergence with a settling time independent to the system initial conditions. Finally, as numerical simulation example, the case of a linear induction motor is studied, exposing the efficiency and feasibility of the proposal

    Application of Sliding Mode Controller and Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Controller to a PMSM Speed System

    Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is a popular electric machine in industry for its small volume, high electromagnetic torque, high reliability and low cost. It is broadly used in automobiles and aircrafts. However, PMSM has its inherent problems of nonlinearity and coupling, which are challenges for control systems design. In addition, the external disturbances such as load variation and noises could degrade the systems performance. Both sliding mode control (SMC) and active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) are robust against disturbances. They can also compensate the nonlinearity and couplings of the PMSM. Therefore, in this thesis, we apply both SMC and ADRC to a PMSM speed system. Our control goal is to drive the speed outputs of the PMSM speed system to reference signals in the presences of nonlinearity, disturbance, and parameter variations. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of SMC and ADRC on the speed control for PMSM systems in spite of the presences of external disturbance and internal system uncertaintie

    Comparative Study between Sliding Mode Control and the Vectorial Control of a Brushless doubly fed induction generator

    Brushless doubly fed induction generators (BDFIG) show commercial promise forwind-power generation due to their lower capital and operational costs and higher reliability ascompared with doubly fed induction generators. This paper proposes a robust sliding mode control of grid-connected brushless doubly fed induction generator (BDFIG). The developed algorithm is based on the decoupling control by using oriented grid flux vector control strategy. The decoupling of the active and the reactive stator powers insures an optimal performance of the BDFIG at the sub-synchronous region. The stator of this machine incorporates two sets of three phase windings with different number of poles, power winding (PW) and control winding (CW). The proposed method is tested with the Matlab/Simulink software. Simulation results illustrate the performances and the feasibility of the designed control

    Fault estimation and fault-tolerant control for discrete-time dynamic systems

    In this paper, a novel discrete-time estimator is proposed, which is employed for simultaneous estimation of system states, and actuator/sensor faults in a discrete-time dynamic system. The existence of the discrete-time simultaneous estimator is proven mathematically. The systematic design procedure for the derivative and proportional observer gains is addressed, enabling the estimation error dynamics to be internally proper and stable, and robust against the effects from the process disturbances, measurement noise, and faults. Based on the estimated fault signals and system states, a discrete-time fault-tolerant design approach is addressed, by which the system may recover the system performance when actuator/sensor faults occur. Finally, the proposed integrated discrete-time fault estimation and fault-tolerant control technique is applied to the vehicle lateral dynamics, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed techniques

    A Reduced-Order Generalized Proportional Integral Observer-Based Resonant Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Control for Grid-Connected Power Converters

    This article presents a reduced-order generalized proportional-integral observer based resonant super-twisting sliding mode controller (RST-SMC) for the three-phase ac-dc converters. On the contrary to utilizing the proportional-integral controller in regulating the dc-link voltage, which may cause large undershoot/overshoot under the disturbance, the proposed voltage control strategy for the dc-link has high disturbance rejection ability and the settling time has been greatly reduced. In addition, the proposed RST-SMC in the current control loop not only preserve the merits of the sliding mode controller but also achieve the current tracking without steady-state error in the stationary \alpha - \beta frame.
