    Robust Stability of a Class of Uncertain Lur'e Systems of Neutral Type

    This paper deals with the problem of stability for a class of Lur’e systems with interval time-varying delay and sector-bounded nonlinearity. The interval time-varying delay function is not assumed to be differentiable. We analyze the global exponential stability for uncertain neutral and Lur’e dynamical systems with some sector conditions. By constructing a set of improved Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional combined with Leibniz-Newton’s formula, we establish some stability criteria in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the results

    An improved stability criterion for discrete-time time-delayed Lur’e systemwith sector-bounded nonlinearities

    The absolute stability problem of discrete-time time-delayed Lur\u27e systems with sector bounded nonlinearities is investigated in this paper. Firstly, a modified Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is designed with augmenting additional double summation terms, which complements more coupling information between the delay intervals and other system state variables than some previous LKFs. Secondly, some improved delay-dependent absolute stability criteria based on linear matrix inequality form (LMI) are proposed via the modified LKF and the relaxed free-matrix-based summation inequality technique application. The stability criteria are less conservative than some results previously proposed. The reduction of the conservatism mainly relies on the full use of the relaxed summation inequality technique based on the modified LKF. Finally, two common numerical examples are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach

    Survey on time-delay approach to networked control

    This paper provides a survey on time-delay approach to networked control systems (NCSs). The survey begins from a brief summary on fundamental network-induced issues in NCSs and the main approaches to the modelling of NCSs. In particular, a comprehensive introduction to time-delay approach to sampled-data and networked control is provided. Then, recent results on time-delay approach to event-triggered control are recalled. The survey highlights time-delay approach developed to modelling, analysis and synthesis of NCSs, under communication constraints, with a particular focus on Round-Robin, Try-once-discard and stochastic protocols. The time-delay approach allows communication delays to be larger than the sampling intervals in the presence of scheduling protocols. Moreover, some results on networked control of distributed parameter systems are surveyed. Finally, conclusions and some future research directions are briefly addressed

    Synchronization of Chaotic Delayed Neural Networks via Impulsive Control

    This paper is concerned with the impulsive synchronization problem of chaotic delayed neural networks. By employing Lyapunov stability theorem, impulsive control theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique, several new sufficient conditions ensuring the asymptotically synchronization for coupled chaotic delayed neural networks are derived. Based on these new sufficient conditions, an impulsive controller is designed. Moreover, the stable impulsive interval of synchronized neural networks is objectively estimated by combining the MATLAB LMI toolbox and one of the two given equations. Two examples with numerical simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

    Networked control: taking into account sample period variations and actuators saturation

    International audienceThis paper exposes a novel method to cope with the stabilization of networked control systems with asynchronous sampling and actuators saturations. The constructive stabilization criterion is expressed in terms of linear matrices inequalities using the continuous-time model of the systems. However the stability analysis of the closed-loop system is based on the discrete-time Lyapunov Theorem. An example shows that the conservatism of the conditions has been reduced with respect to the literature

    Master-Slave Synchronization of Stochastic Neural Networks with Mixed Time-Varying Delays

    This paper investigates the problem on master-salve synchronization for stochastic neural networks with both time-varying and distributed time-varying delays. Together with the drive-response concept, LMI approach, and generalized convex combination, one novel synchronization criterion is obtained in terms of LMIs and the condition heavily depends on the upper and lower bounds of state delay and distributed one. Moreover, the addressed systems can include some famous network models as its special cases, which means that our methods extend those present ones. Finally, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented scheme

    Chaos synchronization and its application to secure communication

    Chaos theory is well known as one of three revolutions in physical sciences in 20th-century, as one physicist called it: Relativity eliminated the Newtonian illusion of absolute space and time; quantum theory eliminated the Newtonian dream of a controllable measurable process; and chaos eliminates the Laplacian fantasy of deterministic predictability". Specially, when chaos synchronization was found in 1991, chaos theory becomes more and more attractive. Chaos has been widely applied to many scientific disciplines: mathematics, programming, microbiology, biology, computer science, economics, engineering, finance, philosophy, physics, politics, population dynamics, psychology, and robotics. One of most important engineering applications is secure communication because of the properties of random behaviours and sensitivity to initial conditions of chaos systems. Noise-like dynamical behaviours can be used to mask the original information in symmetric cryptography. Sensitivity to initial conditions and unpredictability make chaotic systems very suitable to construct one-way function in public-key cryptography. In chaos-based secure communication schemes, information signals are masked or modulated (encrypted) by chaotic signals at the transmitter and the resulting encrypted signals are sent to the corresponding receiver across a public channel (unsafe channel). Perfect chaos synchronization is usually expected to recover the original information signals. In other words, the recovery of the information signals requires the receiver's own copy of the chaotic signals which are synchronized with the transmitter ones. Thus, chaos synchronization is the key technique throughout this whole process. Due to the difficulties of generating and synchronizing chaotic systems and the limit of digital computer precision, there exist many challenges in chaos-based secure communication. In this thesis, we try to solve chaos generation and chaos synchronization problems. Starting from designing chaotic and hyperchaotic system by first-order delay differential equation, we present a family of novel cell attractors with multiple positive Lyapunov exponents. Compared with previously reported hyperchaos systems with complex mathematic structure (more than 3 dimensions), our system is relatively simple while its dynamical behaviours are very complicated. We present a systemic parameter control method to adjust the number of positive Lyapunov exponents, which is an index of chaos degree. Furthermore, we develop a delay feedback controller and apply it to Chen system to generate multi-scroll attractors. It can be generalized to Chua system, Lorenz system, Jerk equation, etc. Since chaos synchronization is the critical technique in chaos-based secure communication, we present corresponding impulsive synchronization criteria to guarantee that the receiver can generate the same chaotic signals at the receiver when time delay and uncertainty emerge in the transmission process. Aiming at the weakness of general impulsive synchronization scheme, i.e., there always exists an upper boundary to limit impulsive intervals during the synchronization process, we design a novel synchronization scheme, intermittent impulsive synchronization scheme (IISS). IISS can not only be flexibly applied to the scenario where the control window is restricted but also improve the security of chaos-based secure communication via reducing the control window width and decreasing the redundancy of synchronization signals. Finally, we propose chaos-based public-key cryptography algorithms which can be used to encrypt synchronization signals and guarantee their security across the public channel

    Stability analysis of coupled ordinary differential systems with a string equation: application to a drilling mechanism

    Cette thèse porte sur l'analyse de stabilité de couplage entre deux systèmes, l'un de dimension finie et l'autre infinie. Ce type de systèmes apparait en physique car il est intimement lié aux modèles de structures. L'analyse générique de tels systèmes est complexe à cause des natures très différentes de chacun des sous-systèmes. Ici, l'analyse est conduite en utilisant deux méthodologies. Tout d'abord, la séparation quadratique est utilisée pour traiter le côté fréquentiel de ce système couplé. L'autre méthode est basée sur la théorie de Lyapunov pour prouver la stabilité asymptotique de l'interconnexion. Tous ces résultats sont obtenus en utilisant la méthode de projection de l'état de dimension infinie sur une base polynomiale. Il est alors possible de prendre en compte le couplage entre les deux systèmes et ainsi d'obtenir des tests numériques fiables, rapides et peu conservatifs. De plus, une hiérarchie de conditions est établie dans le cas de Lyapunov. L'application au cas concret du forage pétrolier est proposée pour illustrer l'efficacité de la méthode et les nouvelles perspectives qu'elle offre. Par exemple, en utilisant la notion de stabilité pratique, nous avons montré qu'une tige de forage controlée à l'aide d'un PI est sujette à un cycle limite et qu'il est possible d'estimer son amplitude.This thesis is about the stability analysis of a coupled finite dimensional system and an infinite dimensional one. This kind of systems emerges in the physics since it is related to the modeling of structures for instance. The generic analysis of such systems is complex, mainly because of their different nature. Here, the analysis is conducted using different methodologies. First, the recent Quadratic Separation framework is used to deal with the frequency aspect of such systems. Then, a second result is derived using a Lyapunov-based argument. All the results are obtained considering the projections of the infinite dimensional state on a basis of polynomials. It is then possible to take into account the coupling between the two systems. That results in tractable and reliable numerical tests with a moderate conservatism. Moreover, a hierarchy on the stability conditions is shown in the Lyapunov case. The real application to a drilling mechanism is proposed to illustrate the efficiency of the method and it opens new perspectives. For instance, using the notion of practical stability, we show that a PI-controlled drillstring is subject to a limit cycle and that it is possible to estimate its amplitude
