    Fire-fighting is an important but dangerous occupation. A fire-fighter must be able to put out fire quickly and safely. This is a common way to prevent fatalities and further damages. So, technology has done its part by bridging up the gap between fire fighters and machineries. So, a robot is invented in order to combine both man kind and technology [1]. Fire Fighting Robot is designed to put out a fire, before it reaches out of control. Robot with these fire-handling abilities is a great advantage to replace fire extinguishers [2]. Water-based robot will be an advantage for users to refill the tank as it goes empty. Users can fill up water and keep the robot in a safe position. Water is a basic non-chemical liquid which will not experience any expiry or damage or corrosion. This invention would be a great contribution to mankind in order to ease their work and minimize the risk during fire put out

    Quantum Robot: Structure, Algorithms and Applications

    A kind of brand-new robot, quantum robot, is proposed through fusing quantum theory with robot technology. Quantum robot is essentially a complex quantum system and it is generally composed of three fundamental parts: MQCU (multi quantum computing units), quantum controller/actuator, and information acquisition units. Corresponding to the system structure, several learning control algorithms including quantum searching algorithm and quantum reinforcement learning are presented for quantum robot. The theoretic results show that quantum robot can reduce the complexity of O(N^2) in traditional robot to O(N^(3/2)) using quantum searching algorithm, and the simulation results demonstrate that quantum robot is also superior to traditional robot in efficient learning by novel quantum reinforcement learning algorithm. Considering the advantages of quantum robot, its some potential important applications are also analyzed and prospected.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures, 2 table

    A flexible sensor technology for the distributed measurement of interaction pressure

    We present a sensor technology for the measure of the physical human-robot interaction pressure developed in the last years at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. The system is composed of flexible matrices of opto-electronic sensors covered by a soft silicone cover. This sensory system is completely modular and scalable, allowing one to cover areas of any sizes and shapes, and to measure different pressure ranges. In this work we present the main application areas for this technology. A first generation of the system was used to monitor human-robot interaction in upper- (NEUROExos; Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna) and lower-limb (LOPES; University of Twente) exoskeletons for rehabilitation. A second generation, with increased resolution and wireless connection, was used to develop a pressure-sensitive foot insole and an improved human-robot interaction measurement systems. The experimental characterization of the latter system along with its validation on three healthy subjects is presented here for the first time. A perspective on future uses and development of the technology is finally drafted

    Reaction-compensation technology for microgravity laboratory robots

    Robots operating in the microgravity environment of an orbiting laboratory should be capable of manipulating payloads such that the motion of the robot does not disturb adjacent experiments. The current results of a NASA Lewis Research Center technology program to develop smooth, reaction-compensated manipulation based on both mechanism technology and trajectory planning strategies are present. Experimental validation of methods to reduce robot base reactions through the use of redundant degrees of freedom is discussed. Merits of smooth operation roller-driven robot joints for microgravity manipulators are also reviewed

    Beyond Speculative Robot Ethics

    In this article we develop a dialogue model for robot technology experts and designated users to discuss visions on the future of robotics in long-term care. Our vision assessment study aims for more distinguished and more informed visions on future robots. Surprisingly, our experiment also lead to some promising co-designed robot concepts in which jointly articulated moral guidelines are embedded. With our model we think to have designed an interesting response on a recent call for a less speculative ethics of technology by encouraging discussions about the quality of positive and negative visions on the future of robotics.

In our previous paper, we studied the topic by scrutinizing all the technical aspects and presented it as a technical review. With the wealth of information on the topic provided in this paper, the content of this paper is expected to be a source of reference for MANET researchers who are at a crossroad when selecting the preferred mobi le robot technology and approach to sui t thei r own speci f ic needs
