    A Branching Time Model of CSP

    I present a branching time model of CSP that is finer than all other models of CSP proposed thus far. It is obtained by taking a semantic equivalence from the linear time - branching time spectrum, namely divergence-preserving coupled similarity, and showing that it is a congruence for the operators of CSP. This equivalence belongs to the bisimulation family of semantic equivalences, in the sense that on transition systems without internal actions it coincides with strong bisimilarity. Nevertheless, enough of the equational laws of CSP remain to obtain a complete axiomatisation for closed, recursion-free terms.Comment: Dedicated to Bill Roscoe, on the occasion of his 60th birthda

    We consider models of CSP based on recording what events are available as possible alternatives to the events that are actually performed. We present many different varieties of such models. For each, we give a compositional semantics, congruent to the operational semantics, and prove full abstraction and no-junk results.     Linear-Time--Branching-Time Spectroscopy Accounting for Silent Steps

    We provide the first generalized game characterization of van Glabbeek's linear-time--branching-time spectrum with silent steps. Thereby, one multi-dimensional energy game can be used to decide a wide array of behavioral equivalences between stability-respecting branching bisimiarity and weak trace equivalence in one go. To establish correctness, we relate attacker-winning energy budgets and distinguishing sublanguages of Hennessy--Milner logic characterized by eight dimensions of formula expressiveness.     On the Unification of Process Semantics: Logical Semantics

    We continue with the task of obtaining a unifying view of process semantics by considering in this case the logical characterization of the semantics. We start by considering the classic linear time-branching time spectrum developed by R.J. van Glabbeek. He provided a logical characterization of most of the semantics in his spectrum but, without following a unique pattern. In this paper, we present a uniform logical characterization of all the semantics in the enlarged spectrum. The common structure of the formulas that constitute all the corresponding logics gives us a much clearer picture of the spectrum, clarifying the relations between the different semantics, and allows us to develop generic proofs of some general properties of the semantics.Comment: In Proceedings SOS 2011, arXiv:1108.279

Más específicamente, nos centramos en el estudio de las relaciones de similitud entre procesos concurrentes. Comenzamos estudiando la bisimulación, considerada la más importante de estas relaciones, y vemos después cómo podemos extender nuestros resultados al resto de las semánticas de procesos estudiadas durante las últimas décadas. En particular, nuestra contribución a la comunidad científica, se centra en dos puntos principales: – El desarrollo de una caracterización lógica uniforme de las semánticas de procesos: proponemos un esquema lógico común (enmarcado en la conocida lógica modal de Hennessy-Milner) e incluimos las diferentes semánticas en este esquema, enfatizando las diferencias y similitudes entre ellas, que se presentan del modo más claro posible. – La presentación de una nueva noción de distancia, tanto entre procesos finitos como infinitos: la misma se diferencia de las anteriormente propuestas en su carácter global, que acumula las diferencias que aportan los distintos cómputos, en lugar de quedarnos con la máxima de ellas...This thesis can be included in the broad field of concurrency theory. More specifically, we focus on the study of the similarities between concurrent processes. We start from bisimulation, the main of these relations, and then we see how we can extend the obtained results to the rest of the semantics developed along the last years. In particular, our main contributions can be roughly described by the following two items: – The development of a unified logical characterization of process semantics: we propose a common logical scheme (within the framework of the well known Hennessy-Milner Logic) and we set the different semantics in this scheme by emphasizing, in the clearest possible way, the (dis)similarities between them. – We present a new notion of distance for both finite and infinite processes.
