From the 29th November to the 4th December 2009, the Dagstuhl Seminar
09491 ``Graph Search Engineering \u27\u27 was held
in Schloss Dagstuhl~--~Leibniz Center for Informatics.
During the seminar, several participants presented their current
research, and ongoing work and open problems were discussed. Abstracts of
the presentations given during the seminar as well as abstracts of
seminar results and ideas are put together in this paper. The first section
describes the seminar topics and goals in general.

Automated Formal Analysis of Internet Routing Configurations
Today\u27s Internet interdomain routing protocol, the Border Gateway
Protocol (BGP), is increasingly complicated and fragile due to policy
misconfigurations by individual autonomous systems (ASes). To create
provably correct networks, the past twenty years have witnessed, among
many other efforts, advances in formal network modeling, system
verification and testing, and point solutions for network management
by formal reasoning. On the conceptual side, the formal models
usually abstract away low-level details, specifying what are the
correct functionalities but not how to achieve them. On the practical
side, system verification of existing networked systems is generally
hard, and system testing or simulation provide limited formal
guarantees. This is known as a long standing challenge in network
practice --- formal reasoning is decoupled from actual implementation.
This thesis seeks to bridge formal reasoning and actual network
implementation in the setting of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), by
developing the Formally Verifiable Routing (FVR) toolkit that
combines formal methods and programming language techniques. Starting
from the formal model, FVR automates verification of routing
models and the synthesis of faithful implementations that
carries the correctness property. Conversely, starting from large
real-world BGP systems with arbitrary policy configurations,
automates the analysis of Internet routing configurations,
and also includes a novel network reduction technique that
scales up existing techniques for automated analysis. By
developing the above formal theories and tools, this thesis aims to
help network operators to create and manage BGP systems with
correctness guarantee
A Survey on Wireless Sensor Network Security
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have recently attracted a lot of interest in
the research community due their wide range of applications. Due to distributed
nature of these networks and their deployment in remote areas, these networks
are vulnerable to numerous security threats that can adversely affect their
proper functioning. This problem is more critical if the network is deployed
for some mission-critical applications such as in a tactical battlefield.
Random failure of nodes is also very likely in real-life deployment scenarios.
Due to resource constraints in the sensor nodes, traditional security
mechanisms with large overhead of computation and communication are infeasible
in WSNs. Security in sensor networks is, therefore, a particularly challenging
task. This paper discusses the current state of the art in security mechanisms
for WSNs. Various types of attacks are discussed and their countermeasures
presented. A brief discussion on the future direction of research in WSN

Impact of alcohol on memory:a systematic review
This chapter reviews the literature in psychology on acute alcohol intoxication and memory. Special emphasis is placed on empirical studies that have systematically examined alcohol’s effects on memory performance in forensic contexts. Three aspects of memory performance are considered, including memory accuracy (i.e. the ability of the complainant to accurately distinguish between correct and incorrect information about the crime), memory reliability (i.e. the probability that information recalled by the complainant at a given level of certainty is correct), and completeness (i.e. the quantity of information reported by the complainant). The review also documents the major theoretical perspectives on memory and acute alcohol intoxication. A total of 19 studies are reviewed. The results show that different memory performance measures are relevant depending on whether we are policy makers formulating interview guidance or decision makers evaluating the strength of memory evidence in a given case. Overall, the research to date indicates that acute alcohol intoxication during rape affects the completeness, but not the accuracy and reliability of what is remembered
Creation and Testing of a Semi-Automated Digital Triage Process Model
Digital forensics examiners have a growing problem caused by their own success. The need for digital forensics is increasing and so are the devices that need examining. Not only are the number of devices growing, but so is the amount of information those devices can hold. One result of this problem is a growing backlog that could soon overwhelm digital forensics labs across the country. One way to combat this growing problem is to use digital triage to find the most pertinent information first. Unfortunately, although several digital forensics models have been created, very few digital triage models have been developed. This results in most organizations, if they perform digital triage at all, performing digital triage in an untested ad hoc fashion that varies from office to office. This dissertation will contribute to digital forensics science by creating and testing a digital triage model. This model will be semi-automated to allow for the use by untrained users; it will be as operating system independent as possible; and it will allow the user to customize it based on a specific crime class or classes. The use of this model will decrease the amount of time it takes a digital triage examiner to make a successful assessment concerning evidence
