Referencial para a caracterização de websites de hotéis de acordo com as necessidades dos consumidores
Online presence is essential for tourism organisations, and the quality of websites can influence customers. In the case of hotels, there are many studies to evaluate website performance based on functionality, usability and other factors, much less on the amount of different information available to the consumer. In the near future by using Big Data it is expected that hotel websites will be dynamic, they will adapt themselves on-the-fly, showing personalized information to each consumer. Different consumers will have different websites (information? available) from the same hotel. This paper presents a framework for the characterisation of hotel websites, focusing on the amount of information available to the consumer in each website, which was applied in a case study during the last months of 2013 to the websites of five-star hotels that operate in the tourist region of the Algarve, Portugal. The framework allowed to identify a set of exhaustive indicators for hotel website characterisation, which were then grouped into ten fundamental information dimensions. These dimensions further fell into four dimension groups. Finally, it is presented and discussed quantitative and qualitative evaluations, that illustrates which indicators and dimensions are more often considered on hotel websites to satisfy the consumer?s information needs
Virtual Location-Based Services: Merging the Physical and Virtual World
Location-based services gained much popularity through providing users with
helpful information with respect to their current location. The search and
recommendation of nearby locations or places, and the navigation to a specific
location are some of the most prominent location-based services. As a recent
trend, virtual location-based services consider webpages or sites associated
with a location as 'virtual locations' that online users can visit in spite of
not being physically present at the location. The presence of links between
virtual locations and the corresponding physical locations (e.g., geo-location
information of a restaurant linked to its website), allows for novel types of
services and applications which constitute virtual location-based services
(VLBS). The quality and potential benefits of such services largely depends on
the existence of websites referring to physical locations. In this paper, we
investigate the usefulness of linking virtual and physical locations. For this,
we analyze the presence and distribution of virtual locations, i.e., websites
referring to places, for two Irish cities. Using simulated tracks based on a
user movement model, we investigate how mobile users move through the Web as
virtual space. Our results show that virtual locations are omnipresent in urban
areas, and that the situation that a user is close to even several such
locations at any time is rather the normal case instead of the exception

Community Aliveness: Discovering Interaction Decay Patterns in Online Social Communities
Online Social Communities (OSCs) provide a medium for connecting people,
sharing news, eliciting information, and finding jobs, among others. The
dynamics of the interaction among the members of OSCs is not always growth
dynamics. Instead, a or dynamics often
happens, which makes an OSC obsolete. Understanding the behavior and the
characteristics of the members of an inactive community help to sustain the
growth dynamics of these communities and, possibly, prevents them from being
out of service. In this work, we provide two prediction models for predicting
the interaction decay of community members, namely: a Simple Threshold Model
(STM) and a supervised machine learning classification framework. We conducted
evaluation experiments for our prediction models supported by a of decayed communities extracted from the StackExchange platform. The
results of the experiments revealed that it is possible, with satisfactory
prediction performance in terms of the F1-score and the accuracy, to predict
the decay of the activity of the members of these communities using
network-based attributes and network-exogenous attributes of the members. The
upper bound of the prediction performance of the methods we used is and
for the F1-score and the accuracy, respectively. These results indicate
that network-based attributes are correlated with the activity of the members
and that we can find decay patterns in terms of these attributes. The results
also showed that the structure of the decayed communities can be used to
