Requirements on IT business value measures for mobile-integrated business processes
Investments in information technology (IT) do not always result in the expected tangible payoffs, and
the factors which influence the effect of IT investments on organizational performance are not well
understood. Stock market reaction is one approach to appraising IT investments. In this paper we
propose a conceptual model describing the factors that impact IT investments based on market
reaction findings of major event studies on IT implementation announcements. This preliminary model
may serve as a starting point to better understand the complex issue of stock movements related to IT
investments
The impact of learning culture and information technology use on knowledge-sharing: A case of KFUPM
The IT productivity paradox raised the issue of finding appropriate measures for capturing the
business value of information technology. While the topic is much discussed on the general IT level,
there is little research on the specific investments in innovative mobile and ubiquitous technologies. In
this paper, we apply a case study research methodology in order to identify the specific characteristics
of mobile and ubiquitous technology investments and the subsequent requirements on appropriate
measures for the IT business value of mobile-integrated business processes. The results are discussed
with respect to the existing propositions from general IT business value frameworks. The outcome is a
set of requirements on IT business value measures tailored to the specific characteristics of mobileintegrated business processes. We see the result also as a first step in the development of a suitable
measurement framework which could be applied by both researchers and practitioners, especially ex
ante in mobile business process reengineering
Sustainable product development strategies: Business planning and performance implications

The final published article is available from the link below.Manufacturing firms are under many financial and competitive pressures which focus attention on the performance of their manufacturing processes. In this paper the opportunities for improving the environmental impact of products within the constraints of existing manufacturing infrastructure are examined. Approaches which support sustainability in two aspects are proposed, firstly, the provision of products to the users in ways which extend the product life and secondly, manufacturing approaches which reduce resource usage. This paper outlines three different sustainable development strategies for different product types and describes the cost implications for manufacturers across the life-cycle. The performance measures affected by these strategies are examined drawing on product development case studies from a number of high technology sectors to highlight the different approaches taken. The results are intended to aid manufacturers during the earliest stages of business planning to consider alternative product development approaches which are more sustainable

The telecommunications business is undergoing a critical revolution, driven by innovative technologies, globalization, and deregulation. Cellular networks and telecommunications bring radical changes to the way telecom businesses are conducted. Globalization, on the other hand, is tearing down legacy barriers and forcing monopolistic national carriers to compete internationally. Moreover, the noticeable progress of many countries towards deregulation coupled with liberalization is significantly increasing telecom market power and allowing severe competition. The implications of this transition have changed the business rules of the telecom industry. In addition, entrants into the cellular industry have had severe difficulties due to inexistent or weak Business Models (BMs). Designing a BM for a mobile network operator is complex and requires multiple actors to balance different and often conflicting design requirements. Hence, there is a need to enhance operatorsâ ability in determining what constitutes the most viable business model to meet their strategic objectives within this turbulent environment. In this paper, the authors identify the main mobile BM dimensions along with their interdependencies and further analysis provides mobile network operators with insights to improve their business models in this new âboundary-lessâ landscape
Modeling IoT-aware Business Processes - A State of the Art Report
This research report presents an analysis of the state of the art of modeling
Internet of Things (IoT)-aware business processes. IOT links the physical world
to the digital world. Traditionally, we would find information about events and
processes in the physical world in the digital world entered by humans and
humans using this information to control the physical world. In the IoT
paradigm, the physical world is equipped with sensors and actuators to create a
direct link with the digital world. Business processes are used to coordinate a
complex environment including multiple actors for a common goal, typically in
the context of administrative work. In the past few years, we have seen
research efforts on the possibilities to model IoT- aware business processes,
extending process coordination to real world entities directly. This set of
research efforts is relatively small when compared to the overall research
effort into the IoT and much of the work is still in the early research stage.
To create a basis for a bridge between IoT and BPM, the goal of this report is
to collect and analyze the state of the art of existing frameworks for modeling
IoT-aware business processes.Comment: 42 page
Context constraint integration and validation in dynamic web service compositions
System architectures that cross organisational boundaries are usually implemented based on Web service technologies due to their inherent interoperability benets. With increasing exibility requirements, such as on-demand service provision, a dynamic approach to service architecture focussing on composition at runtime is needed. The possibility of technical faults, but also violations of functional and semantic constraints require a comprehensive notion of context that captures composition-relevant aspects. Context-aware techniques are consequently required to support constraint validation for dynamic service composition. services implemented in WS-BPEL. A notion of context { covering physical and contractual

In addition, the lack of interactivity with customers has resulted in high churn rate and improper security measures have contributed into considerable business loss. These issues are the main cause of high operational costs and subscription fees in the Pay-TV systems. As a result, this paper presents the Mobile Conditional Access System (MICAS) as an end-to-end access control solution for Pay-TV systems. It incorporates the mobile and broadcasting systems and provides a platform whereby service providers can effectively interact with their customers, personalize their services and adopt appropriate security measurements. This would result in the decrease of operating expenses and increase of customers' satisfaction in the system. The paper provides an overview of state-of-the-art conditional access solutions followed by detailed description of design, reference model implementation and analysis of possible MICAS security architectures.Strategy & Technology (S&T) Lt
