A practical approach to goal modelling for time-constrained projects

    Get PDF
Goal modelling is a well known rigorous method for analysing problem rationale and developing requirements. Under the pressures typical of time-constrained projects its benefits are not accessible. This is because of the effort and time needed to create the graph and because reading the results can be difficult owing to the effects of crosscutting concerns. Here we introduce an adaptation of KAOS to meet the needs of rapid turn around and clarity. The main aim is to help the stakeholders gain an insight into the larger issues that might be overlooked if they make a premature start into implementation. The method emphasises the use of obstacles, accepts under-refined goals and has new methods for managing crosscutting concerns and strategic decision making. It is expected to be of value to agile as well as traditional processes

Decentralized nation, solving the web identity crisis

The web of today whether you prefer to call it web 2.0, web 3.0, web 5.0 or even the metaverse is at a critical stage of evolution and challenge, largely centered around its crisis of identity. Like teenagers who cannot assess properly their reason for being and do not seem ready to take responsibility for their actions, we are constantly blaming the very system we are trying to get away from. To truly realize the benefits from innovation and technology, this crisis has to be resolved, not just through tactical solutions but through developments that enhance the sustainability of the web and its benefits. Significant strides are being made in the evolution of digital services enabled by technology, regulation, and the sheer pace of societal change. The journey to the decentralized web is mirroring the convergence of the physical and digital worlds across all economies and is increasingly embracing the digital native world. Technology has provided the foundational platform for individuals and entities to create and manage wealth, potentially without the need for big institutions. Ironically, despite all of the advancements, we are still facing an unprecedented and increasing wealth gap. Clearly, the system is broken, not just around the edges but at the very core of the democratic underpinning of our society. In this whitepaper, we propose how artificial intelligence on blockchain can be used to generate a new class of identity through direct human computer interaction. We demonstrate how this, combined with new perspectives for sustaining community and governance embedded within the use of blockchain technology, will underpin a sustainable solution to protect identity, authorship and privacy at the same time while contributing to restore trust amongst members of a future decentralized nation and hence contribute to solving the web most significant identity crisis.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur

Digital Footprint for the Personal Branding of Librarians in the Digital Society

    Get PDF
Purpose:-The use of academic profiling sites is becoming more common, and emerging technologies boost researchers’ visibility and exchange of ideas. In this paper highlighted profiling sites. These sites are Research Gate, Academia.edu, Google Scholar Citations, Researcher ID and ORCID, Scopus ID, Blogs, Personal Websites etc. Design/methodology/approach:- The paper adopts the methodology of simple literature review and personal practical experience. The paper reveals a practical case of digital footprint management. Findings:- Due to the need for librarians to embrace the unleashed steps in creating a digital footprint of themselves in the present dynamic information environment and emerging knowledge society, the various online avenues are revealed, which can lead the way for librarians in the journey of making a mark in the digital society. The concept of digital structural change is also raised, in connection with building a digital society. Some major points are raised in the paper which would immensely aid the contemporary librarian in building a lasting positive image, and reaching the apex in the library profession. Such major points as: personal branding of librarians, and managing your digital footprints

Proceedings of: 4th International Conference of the CLEF Initiative (CLEF 2013). 4th International Conference of the CLEF Initiative (CLEF 2013). Valencia, Spain, September 23-26, 2013.In this paper we propound the use of a number of entropybased metrics and a visualization tool for the intrinsic evaluation of Sentiment and Reputation Analysis tasks. We provide a theoretical justification for their use and discuss how they complement other accuracybased metrics. We apply the proposed techniques to the analysis of TASS-SEPLN and RepLab 2012 results and show how the metric is effective for system comparison purposes, for system development and postmortem evaluation.FJVA and JCdA are supported by EU FP7 project LiMoSINe (contract 288024).
