    Actuator and sensor fault estimation based on a proportional-integral quasi-LPV observer with inexact scheduling parameters

ElsevierThis paper presents a method for actuator and sensor fault estimation based on a proportional-integral observer (PIO) for a class of nonlinear system described by a polytopic quasi-linear parameter varying (qLPV) mathematical model. Contrarily to the traditional approach, which considers measurable or unmeasurable scheduling parameters, this work proposes a methodology that considers inexact scheduling parameters. This condition is present in many physical systems where the scheduling parameters can be affected by noise, offsets, calibration errors, and other factors that have a negative impact on the measurements. A H8 performance criterion is considered in the design in order to guarantee robustness against sensor noise, disturbance, and inexact scheduling parameters. Then, a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is derived by the use of a quadratic Lyapunov function. The solution of the LMI guarantees asymptotic stability of the PIO. Finally, the performance and applicability of the proposed method are illustrated through a numerical experiment in a nonlinear system.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

    Data-driven techniques for the fault diagnosis of a wind turbine benchmark

    This paper deals with the fault diagnosis of wind turbines and investigates viable solutions to the problem of earlier fault detection and isolation. The design of the fault indicator, i.e., the fault estimate, involves data-driven approaches, as they can represent effective tools for coping with poor analytical knowledge of the system dynamics, together with noise and disturbances. In particular, the proposed data-driven solutions rely on fuzzy systems and neural networks that are used to describe the strongly nonlinear relationships between measurement and faults. The chosen architectures rely on nonlinear autoregressive models with exogenous input, as they can represent the dynamic evolution of the system along time. The developed fault diagnosis schemes are tested by means of a high-fidelity benchmark model that simulates the normal and the faulty behaviour of a wind turbine. The achieved performances are also compared with those of other model-based strategies from the related literature.     Discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno singular systems with unmeasurable decision variables: state and fault fuzzy observer design

    The studied problem in this paper, treat the issue of state and fault estimation using a fuzzy observer in the case of unmeasurable decision variable for Discrete-Time Takagi-Sugeno Singular Sytems (DTSSS). First, an augmented system is introduced to gather state and fault into a single vector, then on the basis of Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) approach, this observer is designed in explicit form to estimate both of state and fault of a nonlinear singular system. The exponential stability of this observer is studied using Lyapunov theory and the convergence conditions are solved with Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Finally a numerical example is simulated, and results are given to validate the offered approach

    Fuzzy-logic-based control, filtering, and fault detection for networked systems: A Survey

    This paper is concerned with the overview of the recent progress in fuzzy-logic-based filtering, control, and fault detection problems. First, the network technologies are introduced, the networked control systems are categorized from the aspects of fieldbuses and industrial Ethernets, the necessity of utilizing the fuzzy logic is justified, and the network-induced phenomena are discussed. Then, the fuzzy logic control strategies are reviewed in great detail. Special attention is given to the thorough examination on the latest results for fuzzy PID control, fuzzy adaptive control, and fuzzy tracking control problems. Furthermore, recent advances on the fuzzy-logic-based filtering and fault detection problems are reviewed.     Takagi-Sugeno Fault Tolerant Control of an Autonomous Vehicle

    This work proposes a solution for the longitudinal and lateral control problem of urban autonomous vehicles using a gain scheduling Takagi-Sugeno (TS) control approach. Using the kinematic and dynamic vehicle models, a TS representation is adopted and a cascade control methodology is proposed for controlling both vehicle behaviours. In particular, for the control design, the use of both models separately will lead to solve two TS LMI-LQR problems. Furthermore, to achieve the desired levels of performance, an approach based on cascade design of the the kinematic and dynamic controllers has been proposed. This cascade control scheme is based on the idea that the dynamic closed loop behaviour is designed to be faster than the kinematic closed loop one. The obtained gain scheduling TS control approach, jointly with a trajectory generation module, has presented suitable results in a simulated city driving scenario

    Hierarchical Optimization-Based Model Predictive Control for a Class of Discrete Fuzzy Large-Scale Systems Considering Time-Varying Delays and Disturbances

    Altres ajuts: Acord transformatiu CRUE-CSICIn this manuscript, model predictive control for class of discrete fuzzy large-scale systems subjected to bounded time-varying delay and disturbances is studied. The considered method is Razumikhin for time-varying delay large-scale systems, in which it includes a Lyapunov function associated with the original non-augmented state space of system dynamics in comparison with the Krasovskii method. As a rule, the Razumikhin method has a perfect potential to avoid the inherent complexity of the Krasovskii method especially in the presence of large delays and disturbances. The considered large-scale system in this manuscript is decomposed into several subsystems, each of which is represented by a fuzzy Takagi-Sugeno (TS) model and the interconnection between any two subsystems is considered. Because the main section of the model predictive control is optimization, the hierarchical scheme is performed for the optimization problem. Furthermore, persistent disturbances are considered that robust positive invariance and input-to-state stability under such circumstances are studied. The linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) method is performed for our computations. So the closed-loop large-scale system is asymptotically stable. Ultimately, by two examples, the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated, and a comparison with other papers is made by remarks

    Fault Diagnosis Techniques for a Wind Turbine System

    The fault diagnosis and prognosis of wind turbine systems represent a challenging issue, thus justifying the research topics developed in this work with application to safety-critical systems. Therefore, this chapter addresses these research issues and demonstrates viable techniques of fault diagnosis and condition monitoring. To this aim, the design of the so-called fault detector relies on its estimate, which involves data-driven methods, as they result effective methods for managing partial information of the system dynamics, together with errors, model-reality mismatch and disturbance effects. In particular, the considered data-driven strategies use fuzzy systems and neural networks, which are employed to establish non-linear dynamic links between measurements and faults. The selected prototypes are based on non-linear autoregressive with exogenous input descriptions, since they are able to approximate non-linear dynamic functions with arbitrary degree of accuracy. The capabilities of the designed fault diagnosis schemes are verified via a high-fidelity simulator, which describes the normal and the faulty behaviour of a wind turbine plant. Finally, the robustness and the reliability features of the proposed methods are validated in the presence of uncertainty and disturbance implemented in the wind turbine simulator
