Approach Tolerance in the Assemblies of Evolutionary Hybrid Prototypes
A new answer is proposed to replace the traditional “one shot” prototype (manufactured in
one piece with one process): the hybrid rapid prototype. It is used to highly reduce time,
cost and increase reactivity during the development times of new products.
The part is decomposed in several components which can quickly be changed and can be
manufactured with a process the most adapted.
The main objective of the presented method is to propose an available technological
assembly between the different components of the part in the respect of technological and
topological function, and initial tolerance.
Using a graph of representation, fuzzy logic and a tolerance point of view, some entities are
associated with a CIA (Assembly Identity Card) in accordance with evolutionary and
manufacturing analysis. This work will be illustrated by an industrial tooling for plastic

Formal specification based prototyping
Rapid prototyping is an approach to software development which attempts to remedy some of the shortcomings of the linear life cycle model, e.g. its inability to cope with fuzzy requirements and system evolution. This thesis first presents a broad survey of rapid software prototyping. It describes the rationale behind the process, the applications of prototyping, and specific techniques which may be used to achieve them.
We then describe a system, called EPROS, together with its methodology, which supports a number of prototyping techniques in a coherent framework. The system is comprehensive in its approach and covers the prototyping and development of both functional and human-computer interface aspects of software systems. The former is based on the execution of VDM-based formal specification notation META-IV; the latter is based on a textual representation of state transition diagrams. Dialogue development is further supported by a rich set of abstractions which allow interaction concepts to be specified and directly executed rather than implemented.
EPROS is based on a wide spectrum language which supports the main phases of a software development process, namely specification, design, and implementation. Included in this notation is a meta abstraction facility which facilitates its extension by the programmer.
The primary application of EPROS is for evolutionary prototyping, where a system is developed iteratively and gradually from the abstract to the detailed, while it undergoes use and while its capabilities evolve. EPROS copes with all the requirements of evolutionary prototyping, namely rapid development, intermediate deliveries and gradual evolution of the system towards the final product.
The thesis also describes a number of case studies where the presented ideas are put in practice, and which provide data in support of the effectiveness of the described system
Survey on Additive Manufacturing, Cloud 3D Printing and Services
Cloud Manufacturing (CM) is the concept of using manufacturing resources in a
service oriented way over the Internet. Recent developments in Additive
Manufacturing (AM) are making it possible to utilise resources ad-hoc as
replacement for traditional manufacturing resources in case of spontaneous
problems in the established manufacturing processes. In order to be of use in
these scenarios the AM resources must adhere to a strict principle of
transparency and service composition in adherence to the Cloud Computing (CC)
paradigm. With this review we provide an overview over CM, AM and relevant
domains as well as present the historical development of scientific research in
these fields, starting from 2002. Part of this work is also a meta-review on
the domain to further detail its development and structure

В представленной статье предложена модификация метода быстрого прототипирования систем нечеткого
вывода на основе результатов обработки обучающей выборки эвристическим алгоритмом возможностной
кластеризации для случая априори неизвестного числа классов.У запропонованій статті запропонована модифікація методу швидкого прототипування систем нечіткого
виводу на основі результатів обробки навчальної вибірки евристичним алгоритмом можливостей

A Formal Approach based on Fuzzy Logic for the Specification of Component-Based Interactive Systems
Formal methods are widely recognized as a powerful engineering method for the
specification, simulation, development, and verification of distributed
interactive systems. However, most formal methods rely on a two-valued logic,
and are therefore limited to the axioms of that logic: a specification is valid
or invalid, component behavior is realizable or not, safety properties hold or
are violated, systems are available or unavailable. Especially when the problem
domain entails uncertainty, impreciseness, and vagueness, the appliance of such
methods becomes a challenging task. In order to overcome the limitations
resulting from the strict modus operandi of formal methods, the main objective
of this work is to relax the boolean notion of formal specifications by using
fuzzy logic. The present approach is based on Focus theory, a model-based and
strictly formal method for componentbased interactive systems. The contribution
of this work is twofold: i) we introduce a specification technique based on
fuzzy logic which can be used on top of Focus to develop formal specifications
in a qualitative fashion; ii) we partially extend Focus theory to a fuzzy one
which allows the specification of fuzzy components and fuzzy interactions.
While the former provides a methodology for approximating I/O behaviors under
imprecision, the latter enables to capture a more quantitative view of

Design automation based on fluid dynamics
This article was accepted and presented at the 9th International Workshop on Bio-Design Automation, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2017).Microfluidic devices provide researchers with numerous advantages such as high throughput, increased sensitivity and accuracy, lower cost, and reduced reaction time. However, design, fabrication, and running a microfluidic device are still heavily reliant on expertise. Recent studies suggest micro-milling can be a semi-automatic, inexpensive, and simple alternative to common fabrication methods. Micro-milling does not require a clean-room, mask aligner, spin-coater, and Plasma bonder, thus cutting down the cost and time of fabrication significantly. Moreover, through this protocol researchers can easily fabricate microfluidic
devices in an automated fashion eschewing levels of expertise required for typical fabrication methods, such as photolithography, soft-lithography, and etching. However, designing a microfluidic chip that meets a certain set of requirements is still heavily dependent on a microfluidic expert, several days of simulation, and numerous experiments to reach the required performance. To address this, studies have reported random automated design of microfluidic devices based on numerical simulations for micro-mixing. However, random design generation is heavily reliant on time-consuming simulations carried out beforehand, and is prone to error due to the accuracy limitations of the numerical method. On the other hand, by using micro-milling for ultra-fast and inexpensive fabrication of microfluidic devices and Taguchi design of experiments for state-space exploration of all of the geometric parameters, we are able to generate a database of geometries, flow rates, and flow properties
required for a single primitive to carry out a specified microfluidic task
Integration of decision support systems to improve decision support performance
Decision support system (DSS) is a well-established research and development area. Traditional isolated, stand-alone DSS has been recently facing new challenges. In order to improve the performance of DSS to meet the challenges, research has been actively carried out to develop integrated decision support systems (IDSS). This paper reviews the current research efforts with regard to the development of IDSS. The focus of the paper is on the integration aspect for IDSS through multiple perspectives, and the technologies that support this integration. More than 100 papers and software systems are discussed. Current research efforts and the development status of IDSS are explained, compared and classified. In addition, future trends and challenges in integration are outlined. The paper concludes that by addressing integration, better support will be provided to decision makers, with the expectation of both better decisions and improved decision making processes
CMOS design of adaptive fuzzy ASICs using mixed-signal circuits
Analog circuits are natural candidates to design fuzzy chips with optimum speed/power figures for precision up to about 1%. This paper presents a methodology and circuit blocks to realize fuzzy controllers in the form of analog CMOS chips. These chips can be made to adapt their function through electrical control. The proposed design methodology emphasizes modularity and simplicity at the circuit level - prerequisites to increasing processor complexity and operation speed.
