An environment, or any building product or service in it, should ideally be designed to meet the needs of all those who wish to use it. Universal Design is the design and composition of environments, products, and services so that they can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people, regardless of their age, size, ability or disability. It creates products, services and environments that meet people’s needs. In short, Universal Design is good design. This book presents the proceedings of UD2022, the 6th International Conference on Universal Design, held from 7 - 9 September 2022 in Brescia, Italy. The conference is targeted at professionals and academics interested in the theme of universal design as related to the built environment and the wellbeing of users, but also covers mobility and urban environments, knowledge, and information transfer, bringing together research knowledge and best practice from all over the world. The book contains 72 papers from 13 countries, grouped into 8 sections and covering topics including the design of inclusive natural environments and urban spaces, communities, neighborhoods and cities; housing; healthcare; mobility and transport systems; and universally- designed learning environments, work places, cultural and recreational spaces. One section is devoted to universal design and cultural heritage, which had a particular focus at this edition of the conference. The book reflects the professional and disciplinary diversity represented in the UD movement, and will be of interest to all those whose work involves inclusive design

It is no exaggeration to say that CIB is the world's foremost platform for international cooperation and information exchange in the area of building and construction research and innovation. What takes place at CIB events is the very essence of CIB's raison d'être and, outside the triennial CIB Congress, an unprecedented number of CIB working commissions and task groups are represented at this Conference and we have worked to facilitate interaction with a rich mix of specialist streams, opportunities for informal networking and a series of challenging keynotes. With its focus of “Construction in a Changing World”, the Conference provides a forum for researchers worldwide to debate and exchange ideas and experiences on a broad range of issues. Driven by technology innovation, demographic growth, environmental change, a new economic order and a strong undercurrent of social and political desire for change, the world is changing quickly. Construction doesn’t exist in isolation and, in a fast-changing world, the sector has the vital role of providing the requisite built environment to meet the challenges presented by these changes. In order to deliver value, maintain competitiveness and address the needs of society, the construction industry will need to develop its capabilities for managing innovation and technical change. The Conference will bring together resources and knowledge across different fields, technologies and disciplines to deal with the major challenges that construction professionals will be confronted with in the coming years

This document shows the result of the first stage of the research project Management tools and programmed conservation in interventions of heritage buildings in Costa Rica, which consists of a diagnosis of the post-planning phases of this type of projects. The diagnosis was carried out based on the application of three techniques: a content analysis of documents, application of semi-structured interviews and data triangulation. The discourse analysis was applied in the review of scientific articles in which the terms: HBIM, management, model and programmed conservation. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with thirteen experts, of which five are national and the rest are experts from Guatemala, Panama, Italy and Spain. Triangulation was used to compare the results of the bibliographic analysis and the expert interviews. It is concluded that what is recommended in the literature is not generalized in the professional practice of the people in charge of heritage interventions. In the case of Costa Rica, professionals are clear about the deliverables of the phases analyzed, but there is a need for standardization of the content of the products, as well as the tools and processes. Based on these results, the research proposes to generate a protocol for the formulation of the programmed conservation plan, as well as a base document for it, which not only standardizes processes, tools and products, but also breaks with the paradigm of interventions and specific maintenance actions in heritage properties.Vicerrectoría de Investigación y Extensión (VIE). Challenges are emerging within the construction industry, causing diversification of roles, workflows and educational transformations. This has resulted in unifying and integrating the built environment on city, country, and global levels due to the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing and big data analytics. Architectural Technology is at the centre of the construction industry where the relationship between these factors creates many interfaces. Academics and Professionals associated with Architectural technology are best positioned to enhance the design, delivery and performance of integrated buildings within cities at large. This congress will be a vehicle to disseminate research, education and practice related to this theme investigating both social as well as physical, technical, operational and strategic effects on Digitally integrated Cities
