313 new asteroid rotation periods from Palomar Transient Factory observations

A new asteroid rotation period survey have been carried out by using the Palomar Transient Factory (PTF). Twelve consecutive PTF fields, which covered an area of 87 deg$^2$ in the ecliptic plane, were observed in $R$ band with a cadence of $\sim$20 min during February 15--18, 2013. We detected 2500 known asteroids with a diameter range of 0.5 km $\leq D \leq$ 200 km. Of these, 313 objects had highly reliable rotation periods and exhibited the "spin barrier" at $\sim2$ hours. In contrast to the flat spin rate distribution of the asteroids with 3 km $\leq D \leq$ 15 km shown by Pravec et al. (2008), our results deviated somewhat from a Maxwellian distribution and showed a decrease at the spin rate greater than 5 rev/day. One super-fast-rotator candidate and two possible binary asteroids were also found in this work.Comment: 18 pages, 20 figures and 2 very long table

Contributos da análise linguística das histórias de vida em situação de entrevista para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem do português língua não materna : aspetos do desenvolvimento da competência pragmática em contextos orais interativos

A presente investigação tem como enquadramento teórico a Pragmática Linguística ou o estudo da Língua em Uso, isto é, o estudo da linguagem em funcionamento que considera os usos da linguagem em contexto. Tendo por base a constituição e delimitação de um corpus oral de entrevistas a emigrantes madeirenses e/ ou a seus descendentes, de visita, ou de regresso à ilha da Madeira, procedemos à análise de aspetos do desenvolvimento da competência retórico-pragmática que possibilitam a compreensão da coconstrução discursiva entre dois interactantes (como os pares adjacentes pergunta-resposta), a interpretação e produção de Atos de Fala Indiretos (como os atos de pedido), a convocação de outras vozes para o interior dos discursos (polifonia), e de um modo geral, todos os fenómenos que dizem respeito à realização da Delicadeza e que estão presentes nestas entrevistas. Estas servem como material de trabalho para o desenho de um percurso de investigação-ação, destinado a um grupo de estudantes em contexto de ensino do Português Língua de Herança. A entrevista é o nosso leitmotiv quer para a análise linguística, quer para a arquitetura do percurso delineado para aprendizagem da Língua Portuguesa.This research has as a theoretical framework the Linguistics Pragmatic or the study of the Language in Use, that is, the study of the language in operation. Based on the constitution and delimitation of an oral corpus of interviews with migrants descended from Madeira Island people, visiting, or returning to Madeira, we analyze the aspects of development of rhetorical-pragmatic competence, that enable the understanding the discursive coconstruction between two intermediary (such as the adjacent question-answer pairs), interpretation and production of Indirect Speech Acts (such as speech acts of request), the summoning of other voices into the interior of the speeches (polyphony) and, in general, all the phenomena that concerns the realization of Politeness, which are present in these interviews. These interviews are material for the outline of an action research course, aimed to a student’s group, speakers of Portuguese Heritage Language.
