Blunt Honesty, Incentives, and Knowledge Exchange
We propose a simple mechanism to facilitate the buying and selling of useful,
bluntly honest information. The for-profit, arm's length knowledge exchange
this mechanism enables may dramatically increase the pace of scientific
progress.Comment: 3 page
Enhanced cell controller for aerospace manufacturing
Aerospace manufacturing industry is unique in that production typically focuses on high variety and quality but extremely low volume. Manufacturing processes are also sometimes unique and not repeatable and, hence, costly. Production is getting more expensive with the introduction of industrial robots and their cells. This paper describes the development of the Flexa Cell Coordinator (FCC), a system that is providing a solution to manage resources at assembly cell level. It can control, organise and coordinate between the resources and is capable of controlling remote cells and resources because of its distributed nature. It also gives insight of a system to the higher management via its rich reporting facility and connectivity with company systems e.g., Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP). It is able to control various kinds of cells and resources (network based) which are not limited to robots and machines. It is extendable and capable of adding multiple numbers of cells inside the system. It also provides the facility of scheduling the task to avoid the deadlocking in the process. In FCC resources (e.g., tracker) can also be shared between cells

Special emphasis is placed on labor rights, working conditions, labor market changes, and union organizing.ASI_2010_CL_Mali_Ending_Child.pdf: 280 downloads, before Oct. 1, 2020
The Canada-Czech Republic visa dispute two years on-Implications for the EU's migration and asylum policies. CEPS Liberty and Security in Europe, October 2011
This paper critically examines the policy implications of the ongoing Canada-Czech Republic visa dispute for the
founding principles of the EU’s immigration and asylum policies, notably those of reciprocity and solidarity. It
addresses the main challenges posed by the unilateral reintroduction of visa requirements for nationals of the Czech
Republic for the EU’s common visa policy, and for the fundamental rights of European citizens who belong to
vulnerable and excluded groups, i.e. Roma, in search of international protection. The new Commission proposal on a
visa safeguard clause for suspending visa liberalisation will be also critically examined in this context.
The paper argues that the EU-Canada visa controversy reveals several pitfalls for the successful pursuit of EU foreign policy in Justice and Home Affairs, as well as for the legitimacy of Europe’s immigration and asylum policies. It concludes with a set of policy recommendations for improving EU-Canada cooperation in the fields of migration and asylum that aim to facilitate the legitimacy, solidarity and fundamental rights compliance of current and future cooperation frameworks
Selecting source image sensor nodes based on 2-hop information to improve image transmissions to mobile robot sinks in search \& rescue operations
We consider Robot-assisted Search Rescue operations enhanced with some
fixed image sensor nodes capable of capturing and sending visual information to
a robot sink. In order to increase the performance of image transfer from image
sensor nodes to the robot sinks we propose a 2-hop neighborhood
information-based cover set selection to determine the most relevant image
sensor nodes to activate. Then, in order to be consistent with our proposed
approach, a multi-path extension of Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing (called
T-GPSR) wherein routing decisions are also based on 2-hop neighborhood
information is proposed. Simulation results show that our proposal reduces
packet losses, enabling fast packet delivery and higher visual quality of
received images at the robot sink
