    Improved synchronization analysis of competitive neural networks with time-varying delays

    Synchronization and control are two very important aspects of any dynamical systems. Among various kinds of nonlinear systems, competitive neural network holds a very important place due to its application in diverse fields. The model is general enough to include, as subclass, the most famous neural network models such as competitive neural networks, cellular neural networks and Hopfield neural networks. In this paper, the problem of feedback controller design to guarantee synchronization for competitive neural networks with time-varying delays is investigated. The goal of this work is to derive an existent criterion of the controller for the exponential synchronization between drive and response neutral-type competitive neural networks with time-varying delays. The method used in this brief is based on feedback control gain matrix by using the Lyapunov stability theory. The synchronization conditions are given in terms of LMIs. To the best of our knowledge, the results presented here are novel and generalize some previous results. Some numerical simulations are also represented graphically to validate the effectiveness and advantages of our theoretical results

    Projective synchronization analysis for BAM neural networks with time-varying delay via novel control

    In this paper, the projective synchronization of BAM neural networks with time-varying delays is studied. Firstly, a type of novel adaptive controller is introduced for the considered neural networks, which can achieve projective synchronization. Then, based on the adaptive controller, some novel and useful conditions are obtained to ensure the projective synchronization of considered neural networks. To our knowledge, different from other forms of synchronization, projective synchronization is more suitable to clearly represent the nonlinear systems’ fragile nature. Besides, we solve the projective synchronization problem between two different chaotic BAM neural networks, while most of the existing works only concerned with the projective synchronization chaotic systems with the same topologies. Compared with the controllers in previous papers, the designed controllers in this paper do not require any activation functions during the application process. Finally, an example is provided to show the effectiveness of the theoretical results

    Global exponential stability of nonautonomous neural network models with unbounded delays

    For a nonautonomous class of n-dimensional di erential system with in nite delays, we give su cient conditions for its global exponential stability, without showing the existence of an equilibrium point, or a periodic solution, or an almost periodic solution. We apply our main result to several concrete neural network models, studied in the literature, and a comparison of results is given. Contrary to usual in the literature about neural networks, the assumption of bounded coe cients is not need to obtain the global exponential stability.     SpiNNaker - A Spiking Neural Network Architecture

    20 years in conception and 15 in construction, the SpiNNaker project has delivered the world’s largest neuromorphic computing platform incorporating over a million ARM mobile phone processors and capable of modelling spiking neural networks of the scale of a mouse brain in biological real time. This machine, hosted at the University of Manchester in the UK, is freely available under the auspices of the EU Flagship Human Brain Project. This book tells the story of the origins of the machine, its development and its deployment, and the immense software development effort that has gone into making it openly available and accessible to researchers and students the world over. It also presents exemplar applications from ‘Talk’, a SpiNNaker-controlled robotic exhibit at the Manchester Art Gallery as part of ‘The Imitation Game’, a set of works commissioned in 2016 in honour of Alan Turing, through to a way to solve hard computing problems using stochastic neural networks. The book concludes with a look to the future, and the SpiNNaker-2 machine which is yet to come
