    Prototypical Implementation of an Intermediary Platform for Context-Sensitive Mobile Marketing Applications

    The mobile online medium (i.e. mobile data communication) allows the creation of context-sensitive Mobile Marketing applications by using identity- and context information and thereby enabling the efficient targeting of current user needs. However, existing concepts/implementations do not address the impacts of identity- and context information integration to marketing intermediary platforms which connect mobile users and advertisers. Therefore, this paper describes the latter impacts and documents how they can be considered when designing and implementing of a prototypical Mobile Marketing intermediary platform. Besides showing the feasibility of the concept, the foundation for conducting empirical research (e.g. user acceptance tests) about the young field of context-sensitive Mobile Marketing is provisioned

    THEORIZING A TWO-SIDED ADOPTION MODEL FOR MOBILE MARKETING PLATFORMS

    From a two-sided market perspective, this paper is aimed at proposing a conceptual model for analyzing user adoption behaviors towards mobile marketing platforms. Both the consumer side and the merchant side of the platforms are modeled based on extending classical theories with newly introduced factors reflecting cross network effects, and the two sides are integrated in the overall model which reveals the dynamic interaction between the evolution processes of the two user groups through the platform. An experimental investigation and a survey study are conducted to test the consumer side and the merchant side of the model, respectively, both using the structural equation modeling (SEM) method for statistic analysis. Results from the empirical tests demonstrate that the two-sided perspective is promising for interpreting the adoption and evolution mechanisms of mobile marketing platforms. The proposed model extends the current research theme of information systems adoption to a more comprehensive viewpoint of two-sided markets, while contributes to the literature of two-sided market theories by introducing behavioral considerations

Consequently, (vehicle) Data has become an important resource, which can pave the way to (Data-driven) Services. The (Data-driven Service) Ecosystem of actors that collaborate to ultimately generate services, has only shaped up in recent years.     The Anesthesia Continuing Education Market and the Value Creation From a Sustainable Unified Platform

    Practicing anesthesia professionals in the United States are all governed by various profession-specific regulatory bodies that mandate continuing education (CE) requirements. To date, no unified resource exists for anesthesia professionals (i.e., Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Anesthesiologist Assistants) to explore the CE offerings available within the marketplace. This study endeavored to convey the potential value of a unified anesthesia CE resource. It investigated how to cultivate a sustainable platform to potentially improve how anesthesia professionals search available CE offerings and to potentially enhance how anesthesia CE providers reach anesthesia professionals. This qualitative study was conducted utilizing an integrative review of the literature. The key concepts identified and investigated were network effect, segmentation, first to market, best of breed, search costs, transaction costs, minimally viable product, evolutionary phases of platforms, platform theory, platform business model, platform economy, and types of platforms. Inductive content analysis was chosen as the organizational method for the resultant qualitative data. The goal of the analysis was to create a conceptual, practical, and strategically applicable platform paradigm for the anesthesia CE marketplace driven by the insights and amalgamations from the literature. The analyzed concepts, dimensions, and indicators of platform successes and their applications potentially facilitate anesthesia professionals’ CE explorations and CE providers’ marketing efforts, as well as contextualize the overarching impacts and implications onto the anesthesia CE industry and beyond.     The First 25 Years of the Bled eConference: Themes and Impacts

    The Bled eConference is the longest-running themed conference associated with the Information Systems discipline. The focus throughout its first quarter-century has been the application of electronic tools, migrating progressively from Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) via Inter-Organisational Systems (IOS) and eCommerce to encompass all aspects of the use of networking facilities in industry and government, and more recently by individuals, groups and society as a whole. This paper reports on an examination of the conference titles and of the titles and abstracts of the 773 refereed papers published in the Proceedings since 1995. This identified a long and strong focus on categories of electronic business and corporate perspectives, which has broadened in recent years to encompass the democratic, the social and the personal. The conference\u27s extend well beyond the papers and their thousands of citations and tens of thousands of downloads. Other impacts have included innovative forms of support for the development of large numbers of graduate students, and the many international research collaborations that have been conceived and developed in a beautiful lake-side setting in Slovenia

    Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns

    Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse

    Smart Specialisation as an Engagement Framework for Triple Helix Interactions

    The Triple Helix (TH) framework is a well-established theoretical concept and a basis for portraying patterns of industry-science-government interactions. The TH framework provides a useful depiction and description of what might take place in what are commonly described as ‘regional innovation ecosystems’. There is a presumption that interactions will evolve around the convergence of missions concerning creation and utilisation of knowledge, regional networks, government regulation and venture finance, and decisions of multinational corporations and international organisations. However, like the regional innovation systems model itself, the TH model offers little in the way of practical guidance about how interactions can be nurtured and developed, what and where new public and private innovation investments should be made, the most appropriate way to go about building and strengthening engagement between institutions to achieve innovation outcomes, and most significantly, the governance and intermediary arrangements appropriate to guide planning, budgeting and resource allocation at a regional level. This paper addresses the extent to which the Smart Specialisation framework can address those investment, engagement and governance issues
