Design and evaluation of acceleration strategies for speeding up the development of dialog applications
In this paper, we describe a complete development platform that features different innovative acceleration strategies, not included in any other current platform, that simplify and speed up the definition of the different elements required to design a spoken dialog service. The proposed accelerations are mainly based on using the information from the backend database schema and contents, as well as cumulative information produced throughout the different steps in the design. Thanks to these accelerations, the interaction between the designer and the platform is improved, and in most cases the design is reduced to simple confirmations of the “proposals” that the platform dynamically provides at each step.
In addition, the platform provides several other accelerations such as configurable templates that can be used to define the different tasks in the service or the dialogs to obtain or show information to the user, automatic proposals for the best way to request slot contents from the user (i.e. using mixed-initiative forms or directed forms), an assistant that offers the set of more probable actions required to complete the definition of the different tasks in the application, or another assistant for solving specific modality details such as confirmations of user answers or how to present them the lists of retrieved results after querying the backend database. Additionally, the platform also allows the creation of speech grammars and prompts, database access functions, and the possibility of using mixed initiative and over-answering dialogs. In the paper we also describe in detail each assistant in the platform, emphasizing the different kind of methodologies followed to facilitate the design process at each one.
Finally, we describe the results obtained in both a subjective and an objective evaluation with different designers that confirm the viability, usefulness, and functionality of the proposed accelerations. Thanks to the accelerations, the design time is reduced in more than 56% and the number of keystrokes by 84%
Workshop proceedings: Information Systems for Space Astrophysics in the 21st Century, volume 1
The Astrophysical Information Systems Workshop was one of the three Integrated Technology Planning workshops. Its objectives were to develop an understanding of future mission requirements for information systems, the potential role of technology in meeting these requirements, and the areas in which NASA investment might have the greatest impact. Workshop participants were briefed on the astrophysical mission set with an emphasis on those missions that drive information systems technology, the existing NASA space-science operations infrastructure, and the ongoing and planned NASA information systems technology programs. Program plans and recommendations were prepared in five technical areas: Mission Planning and Operations; Space-Borne Data Processing; Space-to-Earth Communications; Science Data Systems; and Data Analysis, Integration, and Visualization
A Framework for Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Project Management
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Information Systems and Technologies ManagementThis dissertation aims to support the project manager in their daily tasks. As we use artificial
intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in everyday life, it is necessary to include them in business
and change traditional ways of working. For the purpose of this study, it is essential to understand
challenges and areas of project management and how artificial intelligence can contribute to them. A
theoretical overview, applying the knowledge of project management, will show a holistic view of the
current situation in the enterprises. The research is about artificial intelligence applications in project
management, the common activities in project management, the biggest challenges, and how AI and
ML can support it. Understanding project managers help create a framework that will contribute to
optimizing their tasks. After designing and developing the framework for applying artificial intelligence
to project management, the project managers were asked to evaluate. This study is essential to
increase awareness among the stakeholders and enterprises on how automation of the processes can
be improved and how AI and ML can decrease the possibility of risk and cost along with improving the
happiness and efficiency of the employees
Intelligent business processes composition based on mas, semantic and cloud integration (IPCASCI)
[EN]Component reuse is one of the techniques that most clearly contributes to the
evolution of the software industry by providing efficient mechanisms to create quality
software. Reuse increases both software reliability, due to the fact that it uses
previously tested software components, and development productivity, and leads to a
clear reduction in cost.
Web services have become are an standard for application development on cloud
computing environments and are essential in business process development. These
services facilitate a software construction that is relatively fast and efficient, two
aspects which can be improved by defining suitable models of reuse. This research
work is intended to define a model which contains the construction requirements of
new services from service composition. To this end, the composition is based on
tested Web services and artificial intelligent tools at our disposal.
It is believed that a multi-agent architecture based on virtual organizations is a
suitable tool to facilitate the construction of cloud computing environments for
business processes from other existing environments, and with help from ontological
models as well as tools providing the standard BPEL (Business Process Execution
Language). In the context of this proposal, we must generate a new business process
from the available services in the platform, starting with the requirement
specifications that the process should meet. These specifications will be composed of a
semi-free description of requirements to describe the new service.
The virtual organizations based on a multi-agent system will manage the tasks
requiring intelligent behaviour. This system will analyse the input (textual description
of the proposal) in order to deconstruct it into computable functionalities, which will
be subsequently treated. Web services (or business processes) stored to be reused
have been created from the perspective of SOA architectures and associated with an
ontological component, which allows the multi-agent system (based on virtual
organizations) to identify the services to complete the reuse process.
The proposed model develops a service composition by applying a standard BPEL
once the services that will compose the solution business process have been
identified. This standard allows us to compose Web services in an easy way and
provides the advantage of a direct mapping from Business Process Management
