Programming enviroments for parallel programming
Programming environments are used to bridge the gap between actual computers ad developement of their application programs. Most parallel programming environments currently in use focus on a specific parallel programming tool. This paper examines programming environments. language, tools, and techniques used for programming of parallel computers.In this paper, several topics are examined. First, a brief survey of parallel computer architectures and typical application programs is performed. Then, a survey of available environments, languages, and tools is conducted to determine how parallel programming is currently performed. Finally, by considering architectures, applications, and environments, an attempt is made to find desirable characteristics for a parallel programming environment and a useful set of parallel programming tools
A general framework for positioning, evaluating and selecting the new generation of development tools.
This paper focuses on the evaluation and positioning of a new generation of development tools containing subtools (report generators, browsers, debuggers, GUI-builders, ...) and programming languages that are designed to work together and have a common graphical user interface and are therefore called environments. Several trends in IT have led to a pluriform range of developments tools that can be classified in numerous categories. Examples are: object-oriented tools, GUI-tools, upper- and lower CASE-tools, client/server tools and 4GL environments. This classification does not sufficiently cover the tools subject in this paper for the simple reason that only one criterion is used to distinguish them. Modern visual development environments often fit in several categories because to a certain extent, several criteria can be applied to evaluate them. In this study, we will offer a broad classification scheme with which tools can be positioned and which can be refined through further research.
An active learning and training environment for database programming
Active learning facilitated through interactive, self-controlled learning environments differs substantially from traditional instructor-oriented, classroom-based teaching. We present a tool for database programming that integrates knowledge learning and skills training. How these tools are used most effectively is still an open question. Therefore, we discuss analysis and evaluation of these Web-based environments focusing on different aspects of learning behaviour and tool usage. Motivation, acceptance of the learning approach, learning organisation and actual tool usage are aspects of behaviour that require different techniques to be used
Compiling ER Specifications into Declarative Programs
This paper proposes an environment to support high-level database programming
in a declarative programming language. In order to ensure safe database
updates, all access and update operations related to the database are generated
from high-level descriptions in the entity- relationship (ER) model. We propose
a representation of ER diagrams in the declarative language Curry so that they
can be constructed by various tools and then translated into this
representation. Furthermore, we have implemented a compiler from this
representation into a Curry program that provides access and update operations

The creation of new programming languages, capable of fully deploying the new technological innovations and operating environments, requires more and more accurate and affordable analysis. In this study, a technique for the generation of formal models for the specification of the semantics of the programming languages is presented. Tools are used newer than the semantics of Kleene - such as the Scotts theory of the cathegories and mathematical theory of the computation, which are here outlined and motivated.
