This research paper investigates study techniques to learn and practice the English language in communication. The study techniques were investigated and analyzed to know which are being used by students and what are the most effective for them. This work applies the qualitative research method to investigate student´s views. The instruments used were the interview and the survey, which were applied to students of high school at Herman Gmeiner School, in Esteli. The sample considered was of 20 participants from a population of 40 students. The data found that the most used tools by students are audio visual mediums

Throughout the globe, training in the investigation of forensic crime scene work is a vital part of the overall training process within Police Academies and forensic programs throughout the world. However, the exposure of trainee forensic officers to real life scenes, by instructors, is minimal due to the delicate nature of information presented within them and the overall difficulty of Forensic investigations. Virtual Reality (VR) is computer technology utilising headsets, to produce lifelike imageries, sounds and perceptions simulating physical presence inside a virtual setting to a user. The user is able to look around the virtual world and often interact with virtual landscapes or objects. VR headsets are head‐mounted goggles with a screen in front of the eyes (Burdea & Coffet 2003). The use of VR varies widely from personal gaming to classroom learning. Uses also include computerised tools that are used solely online. The current use of VR within Forensic Science is that it is used widely in several capacities that include the training and examination of new forensic officers. However, there is minimal review and authentication of the efficiency of VR use for the teaching of forensic investigation. This is surprising, as the VR field has experienced rapid expansion in the educating of many varying fields over the past few years. Even though VR could enhance forensic training by offering another, perhaps more versatile, engaging way of learning, no devoted VR application has yet been commercially implemented for forensic examination education. Research into VR is a fairly young field, however the technology and use of it is still rapidly growing and the improvement of interactive tools is inevitably having an impact on all facets of learning and teaching

ABSTRACT Sisca Novianti, (2019): The Correlation between Students’ Prior Knowledge and Their Ability in Writing Recount Text at the Eighth Grade of State Junior High School 1 Kampa This research was correlational research, which was aimed to find out the correlation between students’ prior knowledge and their ability in writing recount text. There were two variables used in this research. The first was X variable (students’ prior knowledge) and Y variable (students’ ability in writing recount text). The subject of this research was the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 1 Kampa, whereas the object of this research was the correlation between students prior knowledge and their ability in writing recount text. The population of this research was 200 students. The population of this research was large enough to be taken all as the sample. Hence, the researcher only took 15% of the population as the sample was 30 students. To choose the sample, the researcher used simple random sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher used gap filling test for students prior knowledge and writing test for writing ability in recount text, and analyzed the data by using Peorson product moment calculated by SPSS program 23 version. After analyzing the data, the result of score sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05. It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In other words, there is significant correlation between students’ prior knowledge and their ability in writing recount text at the eighth grade of State Junior High School 1 Kampa. Key words: Correlation, Prior Knowledge, Writing Ability, Recount Text

A tool to measure engineering students' design strategies and abilities

Malaysia is moving from service-based industries to knowledge-based industries to achieve Vision 2020. This is also in line with innovation-led economy and globalization. Hence, there is a pressing need to transform the current engineering education system to meet the ever-growing roles and responsibilities of contemporary engineers. Design is central to engineering activity because students can apply the theoretical knowledge into practice. Students' engineering design knowledge and abilities are unknown when they enroll into the engineering programs. These engineering programs are either too low or too advanced for the students' design abilities. Hence, dropout rates in the engineering programs escalate each year. The invention is an online questionnaire which will assist in determining students' engineering design knowledge and abilities. It will guide engineering faculties in identifying suitable candidates for their engineering program through the scores obtained by the students. The scores will determine the students' level of engineering design knowledge. This will function as a mechanism for the faculties to filter the candidates' knowledge of engineering design and reduce the number of dropouts from the engineering program

Cham is the language of Cham people in Vietnam and the traditional Cham script is no longer taught in schools. Efforts to preserve the language has to be done, thus, the main purpose of this research is to explore the most preferable Cham script, and Cham Latin scripts to be preserved. The research was conducted to develop applications to preserve Cham script which will include Cham fonts, Cham font conversion tool and Cham electronic dictionary based on the preferred Cham script and Cham Latin. Besind the application produced for ease of use, convenience, and quality was evaluated by different respondent including religious group, university student, working people, and others. Two types of survey were implemented whereby religious group filled the questionnaire personally, and university students, working people and others did the online survey. A quantitative research method was employed to collect and analyse the research data. The findings revealed that almost all the respondents selected the traditional Cham script (Cham Akhar Thrah) and EFEO Cham Latin to be preserved. All of them stated that they agreed or strongly agreed that there is a need for application products to provide a Cham font, Cham font conversion and a Cham electronic dictionary. FontCreator software was used to develop Cham font, Visual Basic.NET was used to develop Cham electronic dictionary and JavaScript was used to develop Cham font conversion application. All of the application products were developed using the ADDIE model. In conclusion, these research results have shown that there is a need for the Cham community to conserve, preserve and promote the value of traditional Cham script in practice. Simultaneously, the application products will serve as useful tools that will contribute to the heritage and conservation of the Cham language and is the first application product for this purpose
