Graesch, J. P., Hensel-Börner, S., & Henseler, J. (2021). Information technology and marketing: an important partnership for decades. Industrial Management and Data Systems, 121(1), 123-157. https://doi.org/10.1108/IMDS-08-2020-0510Purpose: The enabling technologies that emerged from information technology (IT) have had a considerable influence upon the development of marketing tools, and marketing has become digitalized by adopting these technologies over time. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the impacts of these enabling technologies on marketing tools in the past and present and to demonstrate their potential future. Furthermore, it provides guidance about the digital transformation occurring in marketing and the need to align of marketing and IT. Design/methodology/approach: This study demonstrates the impact of enabling technologies on the subsequent marketing tools developed through a content analysis of information systems and marketing conference proceedings. It offers a fresh look at marketing's digital transformation over the last 40 years. Moreover, it initially applies the findings to a general digital transformation model from another field to verify its presence in marketing. Findings: This paper identifies four eras within the digital marketing evolution and reveals insights into a potential fifth era. This chronological structure verifies the impact of IT on marketing tools and accordingly the digital transformation within marketing. IT has made digital marketing tools possible in all four digital transformation levers: automation, customer interaction, connectivity and data. Practical implications: The sequencing of enabling technologies and subsequent marketing tools demonstrates the need to align marketing and IT to design new marketing tools that can be applied to customer interactions and be used to foster marketing control. Originality/value: This study is the first to apply the digital transformation levers, namely, automation, customer interaction, connectivity and data, to the marketing discipline and contribute new insights by demonstrating the chronological development of digital transformation in marketing.authorsversionpublishe

This paper wants to determine the new juridical context that arises from the information society, with new sources of rights, and show the possible dysfunctionalities of the current juridical system. As specific case of the lack of adaptation of the juridical system, we introduce the self-regulation that has been carried out in the electronic commerce to give juridical guarantee to transactions not contemplated on the current juridical system, showing some of the most relevant experiences, both nationally and internationally

The research for international response to the loss and damage caused by climate change

Climate change is becoming more and more serious, which has triggered extensive discussion on how to deal with it. The international response are mitigation and adaptation. This thesis considers that adaptation is more important for the Loss and Damage caused by climate change. The first question addressed in the present thesis is what the definition of Loss and Damage caused by climate change is. Another principal question is how to fulfill the adaptation obligation in response to the Loss and Damage. For the adaptation obligation, the research aims to give some suggestions: to make full use of the measures under the Warsaw International Mechanism; to improve the implementation mechanism of the Paris Agreement to ensure that the contracting parties fulfill their international obligations. The thesis also analyzes China’s countermeasures, and it suggests that China should formulate appropriate emission reduction policies and foreign aid policies. The thesis analyzes the “common but differentiated responsibility principle”. The purpose is to discuss the prospect of the principle on adaptation obligations. Countries adhere to the principle and fulfill the adaptation obligations or the assistance obligations for other countries

Governing the EU ETS: the contribution and modalities of linkage

This thesis examines the legal mechanics and dynamics of implementing linkage with the EU ETS. The voluminous literature which has developed exploring climate governance has more often equated climate governance with multilateral treaty-making. This thesis instead suggests that the global framework for climate governance is more likely to percolate up from diverse multi-level and multi-actor initiatives rather than filter down from multilateral agreement. In such a multi-level governance landscape, linkage is advanced as a mechanism to promote and maintain complementarity between emissions trading schemes, whilst advancing the incremental evolution of a global carbon trading architecture. The EU has played a leading role in international efforts to promote collective action to confront climate change since the 1990s. This thesis reviews these efforts and critically evaluates the EU’s climate leadership credentials before suggesting how the EU should moderate its leadership model. The central discussion and analysis of this thesis considers the implementation of linkage with the EU ETS. Linkage is conceptualised as a continuum, not a single event. To this end, this thesis advances direct linkage as the objective of an incremental process to achieve de minimis alignment of schemes’ critical design features. By identifying and elaborating core convergence criteria necessary for direct linkage, a framework is advanced to ensure that any candidate scheme has achieved the appropriate degree of alignment for the implementation of direct linkage with the EU ETS. Finally, through application of the previously defined core convergence criteria, this thesis advances a first substantive examination of the potential for direct linkage between the EU ETS and South Korea’s emissions trading scheme (“KETS”) since the latter’s launch in 2015
