    CLEAR: a credible method to evaluate website archivability

    Web archiving is crucial to ensure that cultural, scientific and social heritage on the web remains accessible and usable over time. A key aspect of the web archiving process is optimal data extraction from target websites. This procedure is difficult for such reasons as, website complexity, plethora of underlying technologies and ultimately the open-ended nature of the web. The purpose of this work is to establish the notion of Website Archivability (WA) and to introduce the Credible Live Evaluation of Archive Readiness (CLEAR) method to measure WA for any website. Website Archivability captures the core aspects of a website crucial in diagnosing whether it has the potentiality to be archived with completeness and accuracy. An appreciation of the archivability of a web site should provide archivists with a valuable tool when assessing the possibilities of archiving material and in- uence web design professionals to consider the implications of their design decisions on the likelihood could be archived. A prototype application, archiveready.com, has been established to demonstrate the viabiity of the proposed method for assessing Website Archivability

Özel yaşamdan çalışma yaşamına ve kamusal alana, bilimsel ve teknik alanlardan eğitime kadar birçok farklı alanda video kullanımının ve paylaşımının büyük bir hızla artması, araştırmacıların çevrimiçi video paylaşım platformlarını zengin bir veri kaynağı olarak değerlendirmesine yol açmıştır. Birçok getirisine rağmen bu tür platformların eğitim ve araştırma amaçlı kullanımı çeşitli teknik ve etik zorlukları da beraberinde getirir. Bu çalışma, Web 2.0 platformlarındaki kullanıcı kaynaklı videoların (KKVler) tasarım stüdyosu eğitiminde araştırma amaçlı kullanımına odaklanmakta,KKVlerintasarım stüdyosu eğitiminde nitel araştırmalarda veri kaynağı olarak kullanımının teknik ve etik yönlerini tartışmakta ve öneriler sunmaktadır

    The 2nd International Conference "Cultural Heritage online – Empowering users: an active role for user communities" was held in Florence on 15-16 December 2009. It was organised by the Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale, the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Library of Congress, through the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program - NDIIP partners. The conference topics were related to digital libraries, digital preservation and the changing paradigms, focussing on user needs and expectations, analysing how to involve users and the cultural heritage community in creating and sharing digital resources. The sessions investigated also new organisational issues and roles, and cultural and economic limits from an international perspective

    Using Data Mining for Facilitating User Contributions in the Social Semantic Web

    This thesis utilizes recommender systems to aid the user in contributing to the Social Semantic Web. In this work, we propose a framework that maps domain properties to recommendation technologies. Next, we develop novel recommendation algorithms for improving personalized tag recommendation and for recommendation of semantic relations. Finally, we introduce a framework to analyze different types of potential attacks against social tagging systems and evaluate their impact on those systems
