    A survey on gain-scheduled control and filtering for parameter-varying systems

First of all, we recall several important algorithms suitable for gain-scheduling method including gain-scheduled proportional-integral derivative (PID) control, H 2, H ∞ and mixed H 2 / H ∞ gain-scheduling methods as well as fuzzy gain-scheduling techniques. Secondly, various important parameter-varying system models are reviewed, for which gain-scheduled control and filtering issues are usually dealt with. In particular, in view of the randomly occurring phenomena with time-varying probability distributions, some results of our recent work based on the probability-dependent gain-scheduling methods are reviewed. Furthermore, some latest progress in this area is discussed.     Recent advances on recursive filtering and sliding mode design for networked nonlinear stochastic systems: A survey

The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include missing measurements, fading measurements, signal quantization, probabilistic sensor delays, sensor saturations, randomly occurring nonlinearities, and randomly occurring uncertainties. With respect to these network-induced phenomena, the developments on filtering and sliding mode design problems are systematically reviewed. In particular, concerning the network-induced phenomena, some recent results on the recursive filtering for time-varying nonlinear stochastic systems and sliding mode design for time-invariant nonlinear stochastic systems are given, respectively.     Probability-guaranteed H∞ finite-horizon filtering for a class of nonlinear time-varying systems with sensor saturations

The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2012 ElsevierIn this paper, the probability-guaranteed H∞ finite-horizon filtering problem is investigated for a class of nonlinear time-varying systems with uncertain parameters and sensor saturations. The system matrices are functions of mutually independent stochastic variables that obey uniform distributions over known finite ranges. Attention is focused on the construction of a time-varying filter such that the prescribed H∞ performance requirement can be guaranteed with probability constraint. By using the difference linear matrix inequalities (DLMIs) approach, sufficient conditions are established to guarantee the desired performance of the designed finite-horizon filter. The time-varying filter gains can be obtained in terms of the feasible solutions of a set of DLMIs that can be recursively solved by using the semi-definite programming method. A computational algorithm is specifically developed for the addressed probability-guaranteed H∞ finite-horizon filtering problem.     In recent years, the study of networked control systems (NCSs) has gradually become an active research area due to the advantages of using networked media in many aspects such as the ease of maintenance and installation, the large flexibility and the low cost. It is well known that the devices in networks are mutually connected via communication cables that are of limited capacity. Therefore, some network-induced phenomena have inevitably emerged in the areas of signal processing and control engineering. These phenomena include, but are not limited to, network-induced communication delays, missing data, signal quantization, saturations, and channel fading. The parameter uncertainties are allowed to be norm-bounded and enter into the state matrix. The system measurements may be unavailable (i.e., missing data) at any sample time, and the probability of the occurrence of missing data is assumed to be known. The purpose of this problem is to design an output feedback controller such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties and all possible incomplete observations, the system state of the closed-loop system is mean square bounded, and the steady-state variance of each state is not more than the individual prescribed upper bound. We show that the addressed problem can be solved by means of algebraic matrix inequalities. The explicit expression of the desired robust controllers is derived in terms of some free parameters, which may be exploited to achieve further performance requirements. An illustrative numerical example is provided to demonstrate the usefulness and flexibility of the proposed design approach
