    Dalam dunia yang mempunyai sumber yang terhad, proses pemulihan yang digunakan untuk bahan atau produk adalah kunci untuk menyokong populasi penduduk dalam meningkatkan penggunaan bahan. Pengurangan bahan buangan menjadi kebimbangan kepada industri negara yang berkonsepkan kitaran bahan kerana bahan buangan tersebut merupakan salah satu sumber yang menjana ekonomi industri tersebut. Proses terbalik melibatkan kos yang besar berbanding keuntungan. Perubahan dalam undang-undang untuk melindungi alam sekitar telah memberi kesan kepada ekonomi dan perkhidmatan. Kini, semakin banyak syarikat yang menggunakan proses aliran terbalik untuk pergerakan barangan dalam sistem logistik mereka. Industri pembuatan merupakan industri utama dalam penggunaan aktiviti logistik terbalik. Sistem logistik terbalik merupakan aktiviti yang membentuk proses yang berterusan untuk penggunaan semula produk sama ada digunakan semula ataupun untuk pelupusan. Pembuatan semula ditakrifkan sebagai salah satu kaedah pemulihan yang digunakan untuk produk yang rosak atau bahagian-bahagian yang boleh diperolehi semula dalam keadaan kualiti yang sama dengan produk baharu dan boleh dimasukkan ke dalam produk baharu dan akan dijual semula dalam pasaran sama dengan bahagian atau produk baharu. Aktiviti logistik terbalik sering dilaksanakan oleh pengeluar asal kerana bahan yang digunakan semula diperlukan untuk pengetahuan dalam pengeluaran tertentu. Eltayeb dan Zailani (2010) menyatakan kebanyakan pengeluar di Malaysia tidak berminat untuk menggunakan semula barangan kitar semula atau pelupusan disebabkan oleh perbelanjaan tambahan untuk mengendalikan aktiviti yang berkaitan dengan logistik terbalik

    Introduction: A culinary educator must make many decisions that affect the day-to-day activities in both the classroom and the lab. One of the more important decisions is how to select the most appropriate technology to implement for use in teaching and administrative activities. The research presented here is intended to help the educator identify specific needs, decide where the use of technology is desirable, and offer information designed to help the educator make an informed decision about using technology as a teaching tool. Purpose Statement: The purpose of this paper is to inform the culinary educator about the technology available for use in both the classroom and the lab setting. There is an ever-increasing pool of technology, making it more important than ever that the educator choose the appropriate lab/kitchen equipment and software programs for use in a specific culinary program. Making an informed decision ensures maximum usefulness of the technology in the setting

    E-portfolio thinking in teacher training: a small-scale study in K-12 in Turkey

    The account given in this paper is related to the experiences of foreign language teachers involved in the pilot study undertaken in a high school in Turkey. After outlining the distinctive advantages of e-portfolios in the context of teacher development; this paper discusses the results of a qualitative study addressing the value of e-portfolios as versatile teaching and learning tools to showcase the professional skills of the teachers. Data collection was undertaken through both semi-structured interviews with the majority of these teachers and field observations. By providing teachers with the opportunity to enhance their technological skills and to reflect critically upon their work as educators, e-portfolios can serve as an invaluable resource for meeting educational standards and promoting effective teaching practice

    ‘A productive and happy collaboration’: maximising impact through project design

    This case study describes a highly collaborative project created to develop an online self-assessment tool that offers students the opportunity to plan their preparedness to enter the work place named the Preparation for Placement Assessment Tool. The aim of the project was to develop an artefact that aidsall students to think about and prepare for placements, and more broadly to be work-ready. It also aims to help disabled students to identify and manage their individual needs. Working in collaboration with students is offered as an effective strategy for improving project outcomes and managing the tensions for academics of balancing research, teaching, learning and scholarly activities.This paper discusses the project background, design and delivery, which includes the engagement of a diverse mix of students, and the practice research methodologies used. Discussion focuses on the project’s impact, particularly on the students involved. Four key factors: student power, methodology, the use of funding and slow burn are identified as significant for success

    The integration of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and 21st century skills in the curriculum is not only beneficial to students and teachers, but also necessary to prepare our youth for their future careers. In an age of education where standardized tests determine the success of our schools, it is important to allow students the creativity and use the power of technology to support necessary skills and learn in unique ways. By allowing creative thinking and gauging understanding of content standards through a portfolio based system, students can display their concept retention while producing tangible and valuable outcomes. The future of our students depends on flexibility and resourcefulness not teaching to the test. Education needs to make an instructional shift in order to ensure our students succeed as the innovators of the future. This article explores 21st century skills, as they are defined and describes methods that allow students to enhance these skills. It also highlights how educators can link students’ current knowledge with authentic experiences that motivate, as well as allow them to create and collaborate using the latest technologies.  The article concludes with a discussion around benefits of integrating multimedia in the classroom, including giving students the opportunity to enhance academic and social skills as they communicate and share information, organize their ideas, and express opinions while preparing a project or conducting research through online experience.
