Producción de polimedia por el profesorado universitario y su grado de aceptación en República Dominicana
The use of video in distance education contexts and in virtual training is essential. This study presents the
results of an experience with 114 university professors from two universities in the Dominican Republic who
carried out training activities on the pedagogical bases of the Polimedia systems. The degree of acceptance
of the Polimedia system was measured through an adaptation of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)
developed by Davis in 1989, and the significance of different sociodemographic variables in the model was
analyzed. The results demonstrate the high degree of teacher acceptance of the Polimedia system and its
relationship with variables such as experience with ICT, as well as the robustness of the TAM. This strengthens
the need to establish training plans that focus less on technological aspects and more on the pedagogical

The article analyses the visions that teachers have regarding ICT, and the formative process through which they move to the incorporation of ICT in their professional practice. Specifically, it seeks to "investigate whether there are different typologies of teachers regarding the use of ICTs", and for this purpose a research is carried out with 398 teachers from all the careers and headquarters of the Institution of Higher Education of Chile (INACAP). For the research, an instrument for collecting information, based on the ECAR Study of Undergraduate Students and Technology and the "perceived utility" and "ease of use" dimensions of the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM), was constructed. The reliability index was obtained by Cronbach's alpha coefficient and reached a value of 0.927. The statistical analysis used was the multivariate clusters. The result of the study allows different contributions, at conceptual, pragmatic and institutional level, as it allows to shape, the decision making both for the acquisition of technologies and for establishing training plans. As regards teacher typology in relation to ICT, four groups were found, two with strong (most early - 63%) and medium presence (early adaptation - 30%), and two with a weak presence lagging - 4% and innovative - 3%). The results also support the findings found by different studies
Polimedia como estrategia de comunicación en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje
En este capítulo presentaremos el desarrollo de un proyecto de innovación docente en aulas universitarias, donde un grupo de 70 estudiantes de la titulación de grado en Educación Primaria de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación (Universidad de Sevilla, España) ha utilizado las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación para diseñar materiales con el soporte Polimedia. La herramienta ha permitido a los estudiantes crear sus propios materiales didácticos sin necesidad de tener grandes conocimientos técnicos, integrando diversas tecnologías, como presentaciones, videos, animaciones, etc. Hay que hacer constar que ha existido un alto nivel de satisfacción de los estudiantes por participar en la innovación, y que este tipo de experiencias contribuye al desarrollo de las competencias emanadas del Proyecto Tunning propias de la titulación
PoliMedia - Improving Analyses of Radio, TV & Newspaper Coverage of Political Debates
Abstract. Analysing media coverage across several types of media-outlets is a
challenging task for academic researchers. The PoliMedia project aimed to
showcase the potential of cross-media analysis by linking the digitised transcriptions
of the debates at the Dutch Parliament (Dutch Hansard) with three
media-outlets: 1) newspapers in their original layout of the historical newspaper
archive at the National Library, 2) radio bulletins of the Dutch National Press
Agency (ANP) and 3) newscasts and current affairs programs from the Netherlands
Institute for Sound and Vision. In this paper we describe generally how
these links were created and we introduce the PoliMedia search user interface
developed for scholars to navigate the links. In evaluation it was found that the
linking algorithm had a recall of 67% and precision of 75%. Moreover, in an
eye tracking evaluation we found that the interface enabled scholars to perform
known-item and exploratory searches for qualitative analysis

Polimedia is a room created for benefit of all. Actualy, we can say that a tool with that exists innovating and productive we can record a information, to reproduce it on a presentation to power point, like complementary explanation to the information that is offered. The basic function is to include a information, the vision and oral communication of the author and to offer the possibility, to visualize it so many times as it is necessary. The University of Huelva, has believed in this project, believes in the opportunity to offer an innovating resource and the benefits that contribute are numerous for teaching.Polimedia es una sala creada para beneficio de todos. Actualmente, podemos decir que existe una herramienta innovadora y productiva con la que podemos grabar una información y reproducirla sobre una presentación power point como explicación complementaria a la información que se ofrece. La función básica es incluir a la información textual, la visión y comunicación oral del autor, además de ofrecer la posibilidad de visualizarla tantas veces como sea necesario. La Universidad de Huelva ha creído en este proyecto, pues cree en la oportunidad de ofrecer un recurso innovador y que los beneficios que aporta son cuantiosos para la docencia
Evaluating intelligent interfaces for post-editing automatic transcriptions of online video lectures
Video lectures are fast becoming an everyday educational resource in higher education. They are being incorporated into existing university curricula around the world, while also emerging as a key component of the open education movement. In 2007, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) implemented its poliMedia lecture capture system for the creation and publication of quality educational video content and now has a collection of over 10,000 video objects. In 2011, it embarked on the EU-subsidised transLectures project to add automatic subtitles to these videos in both Spanish and other languages. By doing so, it allows access to their educational content by non-native speakers and the deaf and hard-of-hearing, as well as enabling advanced repository management functions. Efficient Generation of High-Quality Multilingual Subtitles for Video Lecture Repositories
The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-24258-3_44Video lectures are a valuable educational tool in higher education to support or replace face-to-face lectures in active learning strategies. In 2007 the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) implemented its video lecture capture system, resulting in a high quality educational video repository, called poliMedia, with more than 10.000 mini lectures created by 1.373 lecturers. Also, in the framework of the European project transLectures, UPV has automatically generated transcriptions and translations in Spanish, Catalan and English for all videos included in the poliMedia video repository. transLectures’s objective responds to the widely-recognised need for subtitles to be provided with video lectures, as an essential service for non-native speakers and hearing impaired persons, and to allow advanced repository functionalities. Although high-quality automatic transcriptions and translations were generated in transLectures, they were not error-free. For this reason, lecturers need to manually review video subtitles to guarantee the absence of errors. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the manual review process from automatic subtitles in comparison with the conventional generation of video subtitles from scratch. Integrating a State-of-the-Art ASR System into the Opencast Matterhorn Platform
[EN] In this paper we present the integration of a state-of-the-art ASR system into the Opencast Matterhorn platform, a free, open-source platform to support the management of educational audio and video content. The ASR system was trained on a novel large speech corpus, known as poliMedia, that was manually transcribed for the European project transLectures. This novel corpus contains more than 115 hours of transcribed speech that will be available for the research community. Initial results on the poliMedia corpus are also reported to compare the performance of different ASR systems based on the linear interpolation of language models. To this purpose, the in-domain poliMedia corpus was linearly interpolated with an external large-vocabulary dataset, the well-known Google N-Gram corpus. WER figures reported denote the notable improvement over the baseline performance as a result of incorporating the vast amount of data represented by the Google N-Gram corpus.The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013)
