Towards a Security, Privacy, Dependability, Interoperability Framework for the Internet of Things
A popular application of ambient intelligence systems constitutes of assisting living services on smart buildings. As intelligence is imported in embedded equipment, the system becomes able to provide smart services (e.g. control lights, airconditioning, provide energy management services etc.). IoT is the main enabler of such environments. However, the interconnection of these cyber-physical systems and the processing of personal data raise serious security and privacy issues. In this paper we present a framework that can guarantee Security, Privacy, Dependability and Interoperability (SPDI) in IoT. Taking advantage of the underlying IoT deployment, the proposed framework not only implements the requested smart functionality but also provide modelling and administration that can guarantee those SPDI properties. Moreover, we provide an application example of the framework in a smart building scenario
Management and Service-aware Networking Architectures (MANA) for Future Internet Position Paper: System Functions, Capabilities and Requirements
Future Internet (FI) research and development threads have recently been gaining momentum all over the world and as such the international race to create a new generation Internet is in full swing: GENI, Asia Future Internet, Future Internet Forum Korea, European Union Future Internet Assembly (FIA). This is a position paper identifying the research orientation with a time horizon of 10 years, together with the key challenges for the capabilities in the Management and Service-aware Networking Architectures (MANA) part of the Future Internet (FI) allowing for parallel and federated Internet(s)
SLA BASED FEDERATED E-MARITIME SERVICES
We consider a SOA based service engineering framework as a robust engineering approach to the elaboration and analysis of functional and quality requirements, as well the formal testing of architectural solutions of emerging e-maritime systemst. Autonomic systems and related architectural frameworks are considered towards engineering e-maritime services. E-maritime servicesâ interfaces, behavior, and service composition design and testing aspects are discussed. A SOA SLA approach is proposed so as to enable e-maritime service properties to be formally agreed, negotiated and offered over an e-maritime SOA platform
Developing a distributed electronic health-record store for India
The DIGHT project is addressing the problem of building a scalable and highly available information store for the Electronic Health Records (EHRs) of the over one billion citizens of India
Security In The Internet Of Things - A Systematic Mapping Study
The Internet of Things (IoT) concept is emerging and evolving rapidly. Various technical solutions for multiple purposes have been proposed for its implementation. The rapid evolution and utilization of IoT technologies has raised security concerns and created a feeling of uncertainty among IoT adopters. The purpose of this paper is to examine the current research trends related to security concerns of the IoT concept and provide a detailed understanding of the topic. We thus applied systematic mapping study as the methodological approach. Based on the chosen search strategy, 38 articles (of close to 3500 articles in the field) were selected for a closer examination. Out of these articles, the concerns, solutions and research gaps for the security in the IoT concept were extracted. The mapping study identifies nine main concerns and 11 solutions. However, the findings also reveal challenges, such as secure privacy management and cloud integration that still require efficient solutions
A review on software defined network security risks and challenges
Software defined network is an emerging networking architecture that separates the traditional integrated control logic and data forwarding functionality into different planes, namely the control plane and data forwarding plane. The data plane does and end to end data delivery. And the control plane does the actual network traffic forwarding and routing between different network segments. In software defined network the networking infrastructure layer where the entire networking device, such as switches and routers reside is connected with the separate controller layer with the help of standard called OpenFlow protocol. It is a standard protocol that allows different vendor devices like juniper switches, cisco switches and huawei switches to be connected to the controller. The centralization of the SDN controller made the network more flexible, manageable and dynamic, such as provisioning of bandwidth, dynamic scale out and scale in compared to the traditional communication network, however the centralized SDN controller is more vulnerable to security risk factors such as DDOS and flow rule poisoning attack. In this paper we will explore the architectures and principles of software defined network and security risks with the centralized SDN controller and possible ways to mitigate these risks
