Fifty Years of Clinical Legal Education at American University Washington College of Law: The Evolution of A movement in Theory, Practice, and People
Clinical legal education has evolved substantially in the fifty years since Elliott Milstein initiated the clinical model at American University Washington College of Law (âWCLâ) that, notwithstanding numerous changes in program and personnel since that time, remains essentially in effect today. In this Article, we explore the theoretical, pedagogical, structural, programmatic, and personnel developments that have occurred during this period. We link these developments to broader developments within the national and international clinical legal education spheres. WCLâs Clinical Program, and its clinical faculty, have been leaders in shaping these developments, but, in the best clinical tradition, we have not done so alone but in dialogue with other colleagues. We conclude with a discussion of the unfinished business of the clinical legal education movement

Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems
This open access book constitutes the proceedings of the 28th International Conference on Tools and Algorithms for the Construction and Analysis of Systems, TACAS 2022, which was held during April 2-7, 2022, in Munich, Germany, as part of the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software, ETAPS 2022. The 46 full papers and 4 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 159 submissions. The proceedings also contain 16 tool papers of the affiliated competition SV-Comp and 1 paper consisting of the competition report. TACAS is a forum for researchers, developers, and users interested in rigorously based tools and algorithms for the construction and analysis of systems. The conference aims to bridge the gaps between different communities with this common interest and to support them in their quest to improve the utility, reliability, exibility, and efficiency of tools and algorithms for building computer-controlled systems
Algorithmic business and EU law on fair trading
This thesis studies how commercial practice is developing with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and discusses some normative concepts in EU consumer law. The author analyses the phenomenon of 'algorithmic business', which defines the increasing use of data-driven AI in marketing organisations for the optimisation of a range of consumer-related tasks. The phenomenon is orienting business-consumer relations towards some general trends that influence power and behaviors of consumers. These developments are not taking place in a legal vacuum, but against the background of a normative system aimed at maintaining fairness and balance in market transactions. The author assesses current developments in commercial practices in the context of EU consumer law, which is specifically aimed at regulating commercial practices. The analysis is critical by design and without neglecting concrete practices tries to look at the big picture.
The thesis consists of nine chapters divided in three thematic parts. The first part discusses the deployment of AI in marketing organisations, a brief history, the technical foundations, and their modes of integration in business organisations. In the second part, a selected number of socio-technical developments in commercial practice are analysed. The following are addressed: the monitoring and analysis of consumersâ behaviour based on data; the personalisation of commercial offers and customer experience; the use of information on consumersâ psychology and emotions, the mediation through marketing conversational applications. The third part assesses these developments in the context of EU consumer law and of the broader policy debate concerning consumer protection in the algorithmic society. In particular, two normative concepts underlying the EU fairness standard are analysed: manipulation, as a substantive regulatory standard that limits commercial behaviours in order to protect consumersâ informed and free choices and vulnerability, as a concept of social policy that portrays people who are more exposed to marketing practices

Development Of School Culture
The development of school culture is a strategy in improving the quality of schools. In this
context, the role of school principal leadership becomes a necessity to ensure that school
culture as values, norms, and behaviors that are repeated and institutionalized in schools are
contributive in developing schools to achieve superior quality so that they become effective
schools. In a position like this the principal, deputy; school principals, teachers, education
staff, and parents can participate in advancing school culture as expected
Management Strategic For School Development
The role of strategic management in improving quality is very important to realize school development.
Therefore, it is necessary to understand concretely and correctly about the management of improving
the quality of education in schools. In this context, the focus on school customer satisfaction, both
internal and external customers, must be met. With effective leadership, it is ensured that school
performance has increased continuously. Therefore, management and leadership have a strong
influence on the achievement of school achievement, or expected high performance
Approximately there : positioning video-mediated interpreting in frontline police services
This study looks at how UK police forces make use of video interpreting services to
complete standard police procedures. Two frontline police services were examined:
video relay service (VRS) calls to a Police Scotlandâs force control room (FRC); and
video remote interpreted calls (VRI) to a Police Scotland custody suite. Both contexts
were identified as areas for potential VRS/VRI expansion by Police Scotland. The
research questions focused on how co-operation was negotiated during a video-mediated
interpreting interaction in a frontline policing context and how co-operation affected the
delivery of the combined service.
To chart how co-operation was received or negotiated, this study combined Positioning
Theory (Davies & Harré, 1990) with Actor-Network Theory (ANT) (Callon, 1986;
Latour, 2005; Law, 2004). Using this hybrid framework, this study traced the capacity
and willingness each participant displayed as they assumed, negotiated, or challenged the
shared rights or duties (an interactive position), and considered the role non-human
entities (e.g. technology, policies, artefacts) had in shaping these positioning moves.
This study found a range of positioning moves that either work towards or become a copositioning arrangement. The establishment of co-positions means different actors have
established a unified group of rights and duties that are mutually shared. The findings
reaffirm the challenges of remote communication, as well as which features of
communication promoted by call handlers, custody sergeant and interpreters appear to be
mutually effective for frontline policing interactions. The police participant and the
interpreter have a shared objective: to learn about the citizen and to construct an
understanding of the issue at hand. Issues still exist regarding knowing how to adapt
standard police procedures or generic responses to become meaningful to someone who
is a deaf BSL user. Interpreters will sometimes become involved in these matters,
advocating the deaf personâs right to receive parity of service beyond the VRS/VRI call.
By focusing on standard police procedures and understanding what works and why, we
can identify where and when VRS/VRI services could be used to increase citizen access
to other areas of police services.SGSAH scholarship - Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities Applied Research Collaboration

The Role Of Assigning Arabic Language For Islamic Education Teachers
Islamic religious teacher plays the important role in forming the noble character generation.
Because of the Islamic religious teacher teaches some of the material that related with
forming the noble character, such as faith and morals, Koran/Hadith, Jurisprudence, Islamic
Cultural History. All of the content of these subjects refers to many Arabic books. Thus, every
Islamic religious education teacher should master Arabic well. However, there are still Islamic
religious education teachers who have low proficiency in Arabic, thus affecting the low
success of Islamic education teachers. The purpose of this study is to describe: 1).
Competence of Islamic Education Teachers, 2). The existence of Arabic, 3). The role of mastery
of Arabic for Islamic religious education teachers. This paper uses the literature method by
presenting data in an analysis-descriptive manner. It can be concluded that the mastery of
Islamic religious education teachers towards Arabic is very urgent, because: (1). Arabic is an
entry point to explore Islamic religious education material properly, (2). Arabic is the key to
analyzing the mindset of the sciences relevant to learning Islamic religious education. (3).
Arabic becomes a filter to avoid misunderstanding of Islamic religious education material. The
higher the mastery of Islamic religious education teachers towards Arabic, the more
professionalism will be proven as teachers of Islamic religious education
