Central and Western Massachusetts Red Cross Website Re-Design

    Get PDF
The goal of this project was to unify the four Central and Western Massachusetts Red Cross websites into one centralized site that could better host all of the information needed. This project is essential to keeping the four chapters of Central and Western Massachusetts linked into that web so that they can continue to provide their essential services. Our project aims to modernize their current infrastructure by adding additional functionality in the form of online sign up for classes and a combined system for both donations and online volunteer signups. By creating a new joint website for the four chapters, we hope to ultimately improve their current capabilities by updating them to today\u27s current technological standards

    Emergency operations plan

This plan establishes standards and procedures for DHEC and assigns responsibilities for delivering emergency environmental and health services to the citizens and visitors of South Carolina in the event of either man-made or natural disasters, or other threats to public health and well-being. This agency-wide operations plan provides for the coordination and use of all DHEC personnel and resources, before, during and following emergencies

Integration of HelseID with Third-Party Role Assignments Data

The Norwegian healthcare sector is vast, with a substantial number of organizations employing plenty of people, and thereof, 7,300 are customers of Norsk Helsenett. Maintaining and keeping up-to-date information about access rights for these customers is a difficult, time-consuming, and manual task, especially since organizations often change personnel without notifying the system administrators. The task is worsened since the access rights are often tied to an account using username and password as login credentials, which are easy to forget in the midst of many other login credentials. This thesis proposes a proof of concept system for solving these problems. The proof of concept system utilizes HelseID, a unified login solution designed for health care personnel, offering authentication through known identity providers. Further, Altinn, a trusted third-party state enterprise, offers an API for service owners to extract information about organizational roles. The system acquires role assignments data from Altinn and delegates it to users when they are authenticated. The main goal is to automatically and dynamically keep information about access rights up-to-date, alleviate the task from system administrators, and make login simpler for the end-user by using a login solution they are familiar with

Successes & Failures in EU Cohesion Policy: An Introduction to EU cohesion policy in Eastern, Central, and Southern Europe

    Get PDF
The book offers though-provoking insights on the performance and effectiveness of EU cohesion policy in Eastern, Central, and Southern Europe by highlighting the key achievement and identifying the main shortcomings. One of the most important advantages of the book is that it covers many distinct actions of this policy, the authors also, based on wide-ranging analysis, formulate policy recommendations for the future

    Governing the Sustainable Development Goals

    Get PDF
This open access book conceptualises the Sustainable Development Goals as epistemic infrastructures that connect numbers, networks and governing paradigms. The book approaches quantification not merely as a tool for governing, but rather as a broader epistemic system through which global public policy is produced. This book focuses on the role of international organisations in shaping and implementing the 2030 Agenda and demonstrates how the SDGs have transformed and accelerated trends in quantification

The Cooperative Defense Overlay Network: A Collaborative Automated Threat Information Sharing Framework for a Safer Internet

    Get PDF
With the ever-growing proliferation of hardware and software-based computer security exploits and the increasing power and prominence of distributed attacks, network and system administrators are often forced to make a difficult decision: expend tremendous resources on defense from sophisticated and continually evolving attacks from an increasingly dangerous Internet with varying levels of success; or expend fewer resources on defending against common attacks on "low hanging fruit," hoping to avoid the less common but incredibly devastating zero-day worm or botnet attack. Home networks and small organizations are usually forced to choose the latter option and in so doing are left vulnerable to all but the simplest of attacks. While automated tools exist for sharing information about network-based attacks, this sharing is typically limited to administrators of large networks and dedicated security-conscious users, to the exclusion of smaller organizations and novice home users. In this thesis we propose a framework for a cooperative defense overlay network (CODON) in which participants with varying technical abilities and resources can contribute to the security and health of the internet via automated crowdsourcing, rapid information sharing, and the principle of collateral defense

Draft Regional Recommendations for the Pacific Northwest on Water Quality Trading

    Get PDF
In March 2013, water quality agency staff from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, U.S. EPA Region 10, Willamette Partnership, and The Freshwater Trust convened a working group for the first of a series of four interagency workshops on water quality trading in the Pacific Northwest. Facilitated by Willamette Partnership through a USDA-NRCS Conservation Innovation Grant, those who assembled over the subsequent eight months discussed and evaluated water quality trading policies, practices, and programs across the country in an effort to better understand and draw from EPA's January 13, 2003, Water Quality Trading Policy, and its 2007 Permit Writers' Toolkit, as well as existing state guidance and regulations on water quality trading. All documents presented at those conversations and meeting summaries are posted on the Willamette Partnership's website. The final product is intended to be a set of recommended practices for each state to consider as they develop water quality trading. The goals of this effort are to help ensure that water quality "trading programs" have the quality, credibility, and transparency necessary to be consistent with the "Clean Water Act" (CWA), its implementing regulations and state and local water quality laws
