    Get PDF
In this research paper, a hybrid Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) tuned Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) as a Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) is employed to amend root mean square error (RMSE) of photovoltaic (PV) modeling. Moreover, Gaussian membership functions have been considered for fuzzy controller design. This paper interprets the Luo converter occupied brushless DC motor (BLDC)-directed PV water pump application. Experimental responses certify the effectiveness of the suggested motor-pump system supporting diverse operating states. The Luo converter, a newly developed DC-DC converter, has high power density, better voltage gain transfer and superior output waveform and can track optimal power from PV modules. For BLDC speed control there is no extra circuitry, and phase current sensors are enforced for this scheme. The most recent attempt using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)-FPA-operated BLDC directed PV pump with advanced Luo converter, has not been formerly conferred

The electrical demands in several countries around the world are increasing due to the huge energy requirements of prosperous economies and the human activities of modern life. In order to economically transfer electrical powers from the generation side to the demand side, these powers need to be transferred at high-voltage levels through suitable transmission systems and power substations. To this end, high-voltage transmission systems and power substations are in demand. Actually, they are at the heart of interconnected power systems, in which any faults might lead to unsuitable consequences, abnormal operation situations, security issues, and even power cuts and blackouts. In order to cope with the ever-increasing operation and control complexity and security in interconnected high-voltage power systems, new architectures, concepts, algorithms, and procedures are essential. This book aims to encourage researchers to address the technical issues and research gaps in high-voltage transmission systems and power substations in modern energy systems

This paper proposes a fuzzy logic-based battery energy management system in hybrid renewable system. The novel topology consists of solar and wind energy system-based input sources and a battery bank to store the energy when in excess. The PV-Wind source is equipped with unidirectional boost converter whereas, the battery storage system is connected to the system with a bi-directional DC/DC converter. The main novelty of this research is the fuzzy logic-based battery management system which charges and discharges into the DC bus system based on the supply-load demand. The fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is used in the PV and wind energy conversion system (WECS) to track the maximum available power for the different irradiance and wind velocity respectively. The obtained results are compared to conventional P&O MPPT control algorithm to find the effectiveness of the system. A 500 W PV system and a 500 W Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based WECS is implemented for its simplicity and high efficiency. The proposed control topology is designed and tested using MATLAB/Simulin

The linear increase in the growth of the population demands a requisite for energy resources. Knowing the loathsome truth that non-renewable sources will ultimately exhaust, the significance of renewable sources cannot be undervalued. Considering various factors, many work areas are reliant upon fossil fuels for the generation of electricity. The use of fossil fuels will increase the quality of power production but will drain one day, and industries must change to renewable sources. The earliest system that strikes a chord with regard to renewable energy is the photovoltaic (PV) energy system. In this specific circumstance, interest in solar systems is expanding step by step, and its installations are becoming broad. The implementation of the solar water pumping method used for irrigation purposes using a Zeta converter was best suited for small and minor farmers, but still, the efficiency of the system can be upgraded with the use of filters. The vantage of the ZETA converter has less result voltage ripple and smooth water pumping application. The PV-based system has reached the point where it is used in Electric vehicles by enhancing the standard operating condition of the converter under the steady and dynamic behavior of a PV system. Eventually, it can be worked considerably under minimum solar irradiance. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of the signal had dominant performance in a zeta converter circuit while sign levels ripple current, and voltage on the output side was compact

Power converters and electric machines represent essential components in all fields of electrical engineering. In fact, we are heading towards a future where energy will be more and more electrical: electrical vehicles, electrical motors, renewables, storage systems are now widespread. The ongoing energy transition poses new challenges for interfacing and integrating different power systems. The constraints of space, weight, reliability, performance, and autonomy for the electric system have increased the attention of scientific research in order to find more and more appropriate technological solutions. This chapter deals with a comprehensive overview study of the direct‐driven (DD) permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) for wind‐energy generation system for stand‐alone applications. The dynamic model of PMSG is presented, and different maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms have been realized in the aim to compare their performance. A comparison of performances of the conventional P&O MPPT and the fuzzy logic P&O (FLC P&O) MPPT is presented. Control technique for the presented system is presented and analyzed for the generator side converter. The simulation results carried out using Matlab/Simulink software show the effectiveness of the wind turbine control system

Some Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) Sensorless Control Methods based on Operation Speed Area

    Get PDF
This paper compares some sensorless Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) controls for driving an electric vehicle in terms of operating speed. Sensorless control is a type of control method in which sensors, such as speed and position sensors, are not used to measure controlled variables.  The controlled variable value is estimated from the stator current measurement. Sensorless control performance is not as good as a sensor-based system. This paper aims are to recommend a control method for the PMSM sensorless controls that would be used to drive an electric vehicle. The methods that we will discuss are divided into four categories based on the operation speed area.  They are a startup, low speed, high speed, and low and high-speed areas. The low and high-speed area will be divided into with and without switching.  If PMSM more work at high speed, the most speed area that is used, we prefer to choose the method that works at high speed, that is, the modification or combination of two or more conventional methods

Modelling and Performance Evaluation of ANFIS Controller-Based Bidirectional Power Management Scheme in Plug-in Electric Vehicles Integrated with Electric Grid

    Get PDF
A bi-directional power exchange between the plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) and the AC electrical grid is necessary to perform the Vehicle to Grid (V2G) and Grid to Vehicle (G2V) operations. While performing these operations, different power converters and controllers play an important role as mediators between the PEV and electric grid. Various works have demonstrated the utilization of controllers for PEV’s battery power management. However, the existing conventional controllers have technical shortcomings about vulnerability to controller gain, accurate mathematical modelling, poor adaptability, sluggish response to a sudden outburst and lengthy interval execution processing. Therefore, this paper develops an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) control strategy based bidirectional power management scheme to ensure the optimal electrical power flow exchange between the AC electrical grid and battery storage system in PEVs. This paper aims to reduce the stress on the grid power side and utilize the unused power properly. The performance of the ANFIS model is varied using two PEVs based on real-life power consumptions by different loads at home based on five operational modes. Besides, a comparative analysis between the ANFIS controller and the PI controller is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. The results illustrate that the proposed ANFIS controller delivers a smoother power injection from the PEV to the AC power grid with the least harmonics as well as achieves a smoother battery profile and less distortion when power is absorbed by PEV battery.publishedVersio
