Performance Analysis and Comparison of Multiple Routing Protocols in a Large-Area, High Speed Mobile Node Ad Hoc Network
The U.S. Air Force is interested in developing a standard ad hoc framework using heavy aircraft to route data across large regions. The Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) has the potential to provide seamless large-scale routing for DOD under the Joint Tactical Radio System program. The goal of this study is to determine if there is a difference between routing protocol performance when operating in a large-area MANET with high-speed mobile nodes. This study analyzes MANET performance when using reactive, proactive, and hybrid routing protocols, specifically AODV, DYMO, Fisheye, and ZRP. This analysis compares the performance of the four routing protocols under the same MANET conditions. Average end-to-end delay, number of packets received, and throughput are the performance metrics used. Reactive protocol performance is better than hybrid and proactive protocol performance in each metric. Average ETE delays are lower using AODV (1.17 secs) and DYMO (2.14 secs) than ZRP (201.9 secs) or Fisheye (169.7 secs). Number of packets received is higher using AODV (531.6) and DYMO (670.2) than ZRP (267.3) or Fisheye (186.3). Throughput is higher using AODV (66,500 bps) and DYMO (87,577 bps) than ZRP (33,659 bps) or Fisheye (23,630bps). The benefits of ZRP and Fisheye are not able to be taken advantage of in the MANET configurations modeled in this research using a heavy aircraft ad hoc framework

A Performance Review of Intra and Inter-Group MANET Routing Protocols under Varying Speed of Nodes
Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) are a cluster of self-organizing and self-governing wireless nodes without any backbone infrastructure and centralized administration. The various nodes in MANET move randomly, and this node mobility may pose challenges on the performance of routing protocols. In this paper, an Intra and intergroup performance review of various MANET routing protocols are performed under varying speed of nodes. The routing protocols included in this study are reactive, proactive, and hybrid protocols. This performance review is done using the NS2 simulator and random waypoint model. The routing protocols performance is assessed through standard performance measure metrics including packet delivery ratio, throughput, routing overhead and end to end delivery with varying speed of nodes. The simulations result shows that there is no significant impact of varying speed of nodes on standard performance evaluation metrics
A Topology Based Routing Protocols Comparative Analysis for MANETs
MANET is a dynamic topology wireless network in which each mobile works as a sender and receiver wireless router. MANET have very low deployment cost, a low cost option to extend network coverage and ease of maintenance due to their self healing properties. MANETs are powered by batteries that have very limited capacity and it is a very important issue. The primary goal of MANET routing protocols is to find out an efficient route between any two mobile nodes with minimum time and less resource consumption. The MANET routing protocol designing is a very challenging due to various challenges such as the nodes have short battery life, small bandwidth, number of paths between source and destination, variable population of nodes and lose links. The central focus of this paper is to comparative study of different kinds of routing protocols and comparing on the basis of some common properties. Therefore, it is quite difficult to determine which protocols may perform best under a number of different network scenarios, such as increasing node density and traffic mobility. Effective Route Maintenance and Restoration Schemes in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
This study proposes a location-based hybrid routing protocol to improve data packet delivery and to reduce control message overhead in mobile ad hoc networks. In mobile environments, where nodes move continuously at a high speed, it is generally difficult to maintain and restore route paths. Therefore, this study suggests a new flooding mechanism to control route paths. The essence of the proposed scheme is its effective tracking of the destination’s location based on the beacon messages of the main route nodes. Through experiments based on an NS-2 simulator, the proposed scheme shows improvements in the data packet delivery ratio and reduces the amount of routing control message overhead compared with existing routing protocols such as AODV, LAR, ZRP and AODV-DFR

Analyzing Performance of ZRP by Varying Node Density and Transmission Range
Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes that are arbitrarily located so that the interconnections between nodes are dynamically changing. In MANET mobile nodes forms a temporary network without the use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. Each node participating in the network acts both as host and a router and must therefore is willing to forward packets for other nodes. For this purpose, a routing protocol is needed. A routing protocol is used to find routes between mobile nodes to facilitate communication within the network. The Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) is a hybrid routing protocol for MANET which combines the advantages of the proactive and reactive approaches by maintaining an up-to-date topological map of a zone centered on each node. I am going to do simulation based study in order to analyze performance of ZRP protocol and I use Network Simulator (NS-2) tool to analysis performance of ZRP and analysis by varying node density and transmission range on different parameter like throughput, average end to end delay, and Normalized Routing load.
