An M-QAM Signal Modulation Recognition Algorithm in AWGN Channel
Computing the distinct features from input data, before the classification,
is a part of complexity to the methods of Automatic Modulation Classification
(AMC) which deals with modulation classification was a pattern recognition
problem. Although the algorithms that focus on MultiLevel Quadrature Amplitude
Modulation (M-QAM) which underneath different channel scenarios was well
detailed. A search of the literature revealed indicates that few studies were
done on the classification of high order M-QAM modulation schemes like128-QAM,
256-QAM, 512-QAM and1024-QAM. This work is focusing on the investigation of the
powerful capability of the natural logarithmic properties and the possibility
of extracting Higher-Order Cumulant's (HOC) features from input data received
raw. The HOC signals were extracted under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN)
channel with four effective parameters which were defined to distinguished the
types of modulation from the set; 4-QAM~1024-QAM. This approach makes the
recognizer more intelligent and improves the success rate of classification.
From simulation results, which was achieved under statistical models for noisy
channels, manifest that recognized algorithm executes was recognizing in M-QAM,
furthermore, most results were promising and showed that the logarithmic
classifier works well over both AWGN and different fading channels, as well as
it can achieve a reliable recognition rate even at a lower signal-to-noise
ratio (less than zero), it can be considered as an Integrated Automatic
Modulation Classification (AMC) system in order to identify high order of M-QAM
signals that applied a unique logarithmic classifier, to represents higher
versatility, hence it has a superior performance via all previous works in
automatic modulation identification systemComment: 18 page
Joint Intermodal and Intramodal Label Transfers for Extremely Rare or Unseen Classes
In this paper, we present a label transfer model from texts to images for
image classification tasks. The problem of image classification is often much
more challenging than text classification. On one hand, labeled text data is
more widely available than the labeled images for classification tasks. On the
other hand, text data tends to have natural semantic interpretability, and they
are often more directly related to class labels. On the contrary, the image
features are not directly related to concepts inherent in class labels. One of
our goals in this paper is to develop a model for revealing the functional
relationships between text and image features as to directly transfer
intermodal and intramodal labels to annotate the images. This is implemented by
learning a transfer function as a bridge to propagate the labels between two
multimodal spaces. However, the intermodal label transfers could be undermined
by blindly transferring the labels of noisy texts to annotate images. To
mitigate this problem, we present an intramodal label transfer process, which
complements the intermodal label transfer by transferring the image labels
instead when relevant text is absent from the source corpus. In addition, we
generalize the inter-modal label transfer to zero-shot learning scenario where
there are only text examples available to label unseen classes of images
without any positive image examples. We evaluate our algorithm on an image
classification task and show the effectiveness with respect to the other
compared algorithms.Comment: The paper has been accepted by IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis

Present a feature selection technique based on machine learning in order to increase the detection rate of classifiers using CHOA algorithm
In creating a pattern classifier, feature selection is often used to prune irrelevant and noisy features to producing effective features. Feature selection algorithms; try to classify an instance with lower dimension, instead of huge number of required features, with higher and acceptable accuracy. In fact an instance may contain useless features which might result to misclassification. An appropriate feature selection methods tries to increase the effect of significant features while ignores insignificant subset of features. In this paper, an efficient feature selection algorithm based on Cheetah optimization algorithm and support vector machine (CHOA-SVM) was used. First a population of cheetahs (feature subsets) were randomly generated, and then optimized by CHOA-SVM wrapper algorithms; finally the best fitness feature subset was applied to SVM classification. Experiments over a standard benchmark demonstrate that applying CHOA-SVM in the context of feature selection is a feasible approach and improves the classification results. The simulation experiment results have proved that the feature subset selection algorithm based on CHOA-SVM is very effective
Robust Adaptive Median Binary Pattern for noisy texture classification and retrieval
Texture is an important cue for different computer vision tasks and
applications. Local Binary Pattern (LBP) is considered one of the best yet
efficient texture descriptors. However, LBP has some notable limitations,
mostly the sensitivity to noise. In this paper, we address these criteria by
introducing a novel texture descriptor, Robust Adaptive Median Binary Pattern
(RAMBP). RAMBP based on classification process of noisy pixels, adaptive
analysis window, scale analysis and image regions median comparison. The
proposed method handles images with high noisy textures, and increases the
discriminative properties by capturing microstructure and macrostructure
texture information. The proposed method has been evaluated on popular texture
datasets for classification and retrieval tasks, and under different high noise
conditions. Without any train or prior knowledge of noise type, RAMBP achieved
the best classification compared to state-of-the-art techniques. It scored more
than under impulse noise densities, more than under
Gaussian noised textures with standard deviation , and more than
under Gaussian blurred textures with standard deviation .
The proposed method yielded competitive results and high performance as one of
the best descriptors in noise-free texture classification. Furthermore, RAMBP
showed also high performance for the problem of noisy texture retrieval
providing high scores of recall and precision measures for textures with high
levels of noise
