    SPIDA: Abstracting and generalizing layout design cases

    Abstraction and generalization of layout design cases generate new knowledge that is more widely applicable to use than specific design cases. The abstraction and generalization of design cases into hierarchical levels of abstractions provide the designer with the flexibility to apply any level of abstract and generalized knowledge for a new layout design problem. Existing case-based layout learning (CBLL) systems abstract and generalize cases into single levels of abstractions, but not into a hierarchy. In this paper, we propose a new approach, termed customized viewpoint - spatial (CV-S), which supports the generalization and abstraction of spatial layouts into hierarchies along with a supporting system, SPIDA (SPatial Intelligent Design Assistant)

    A novel and deterministic algorithm is presented to detect whether two given rational plane curves are related by means of a similarity, which is a central question in Pattern Recognition. As a by-product it finds all such similarities, and the particular case of equal curves yields all symmetries. A complete theoretical description of the method is provided, and the method has been implemented and tested in the Sage system for curves of moderate degrees.Comment: 22 page

This method can achieve precision of less of 5 mm in position at a distance of 0.7 m, using a visual mark of 17 mm Ă— 17 mm, and it can be used by controller when the aerial robot is doing a manipulation task. The localization method is based on optimizing the alignment of deformable contours from textureless images working from the raw vertexes of the observed contour. The algorithm optimizes the alignment of the XOR area computed by means of computer graphics clipping techniques.     Journal ArticleA three-dimensional scene analysis system for the shape matching of real world 3-D objects is presented. Various issues related to representation and modeling of 3-D objects are addressed. A new method for the approximation of 3-D objects by a set of planar faces is discussed. The major advantage of this method is that it is applicable to a complete object and not restricted to single range view which was the imitation of the previous work in 3-D scene analysis. The method is a sequential region growing algorithm. It is not applied to range images, but rather to a set of 3-D model of an object is obtained

    High-temperature expansion for Ising models on quasiperiodic tilings

    We consider high-temperature expansions for the free energy of zero-field Ising models on planar quasiperiodic graphs. For the Penrose and the octagonal Ammann-Beenker tiling, we compute the expansion coefficients up to 18th order. As a by-product, we obtain exact vertex-averaged numbers of self-avoiding polygons on these quasiperiodic graphs. In addition, we analyze periodic approximants by computing the partition function via the Kac-Ward determinant. For the critical properties, we find complete agreement with the commonly accepted conjecture that the models under consideration belong to the same universality class as those on periodic two-dimensional lattices.Comment: 24 pages, 8 figures (EPS), uses IOP styles (included
