Multi-layered reasoning by means of conceptual fuzzy sets

The real world consists of a very large number of instances of events and continuous numeric values. On the other hand, people represent and process their knowledge in terms of abstracted concepts derived from generalization of these instances and numeric values. Logic based paradigms for knowledge representation use symbolic processing both for concept representation and inference. Their underlying assumption is that a concept can be defined precisely. However, as this assumption hardly holds for natural concepts, it follows that symbolic processing cannot deal with such concepts. Thus symbolic processing has essential problems from a practical point of view of applications in the real world. In contrast, fuzzy set theory can be viewed as a stronger and more practical notation than formal, logic based theories because it supports both symbolic processing and numeric processing, connecting the logic based world and the real world. In this paper, we propose multi-layered reasoning by using conceptual fuzzy sets (CFS). The general characteristics of CFS are discussed along with upper layer supervision and context dependent processing

Design and Development of Fuzzy-PID Controller for Four-Wheeled Mobile Robotic Stability: A Case Study on the Uphill Road

Design intelligent control to maximize the performance of the Four-Wheeled Mobile Robot (FWMR) in case of uphill road problems. The variation of slope angle and load variation on the uphill road is applied to know the performance of the automatic control system on FWMR. The research is divided into three two covering, system identification, design system and simulation testing. The Rotary speed control system response with fuzzy-PID control method has a good performance by anticipating various tilt angle 5o. The system can through uphill with loads 11N with a steady time and fast travel time. The best travel time in the 5o tilt angle condition is 2 seconds with a 4m circuit length. This research concludes that fuzzy-PID control can be implemented and increase the dynamic response of the FWMR effectively on the uphill road problems

Path Navigation For Robot Using Matlab

Path navigation using fuzzy logic controller and trajectory prediction table is to drive a robot in the dynamic environment to a target position, without collision. This path navigation method consists of static navigation method and dynamic path planning. The static navigation used to avoid the static obstacles by using fuzzy logic controller, which contains four sensor input and two output variables. If the robot detects moving obstacles, the robot can recognize the velocity and moving direction of each obstacle and generate the Trajectory Prediction Table to predict the obstacles’ future trajectory. If the trajectory prediction table which reveals that the robot will collide with an obstacle, the dynamic path planning will find a new collision free path to avoid the obstacle by waiting strategy or detouring strategy. . A lot of research work has been carried out in order to solve this problem. In order to navigate successfully in an unknown or partially known environment, the mobile robots should be able to extract the necessary surrounding information from the environment using sensor input, use their built-in knowledge for perception and to take the action required to plan a feasible path for collision free motion and to reach the goal

FPGA implementation of embedded fuzzy controllers for robotic applications

Fuzzy-logic-based inference techniques provide efficient solutions for control problems in classical and emerging applications. However, the lack of specific design tools and systematic approaches for hardware implementation of complex fuzzy controllers limits the applicability of these techniques in modern microelectronics products. This paper discusses a design strategy that eases the implementation of embedded fuzzy controllers as systems on programmable chips. The development of the controllers is carried out by means of a reconfigurable platform based on field-programmable gate arrays. This platform combines specific hardware to implement fuzzy inference modules with a general-purpose processor, thus allowing the realization of hybrid hardware/soffivare solutions. As happens to the components of the processing system, the specific fuzzy elements are conceived as configurable intellectual property modules in order to accelerate the controller design cycle. The design methodology and tool chain presented in this paper have been applied to the realization of a control system for solving the navigation tasks of an autonomous vehicle
