Retailer acceptance of consumer LED group buying from a stakeholder influence strategy perspective

    Get PDF
Paper no. 157The Internet has brought a new way of collaboration among consumers to the door steps of retailers. Existing studies have assumed that retailers play an active role and focused on discussing how retailers can make good use of Web 2.0 to develop new business models, however little has been done to address what retailers should do if being forced to cope with changes. This paper, based on a stakeholder influence strategy perspective, studies how the structural relationship factors have influenced retailers' strategic decisions on whether or not to accommodate a consumer led group buying behaviour in China, Tuangou. Tuangou refers to the phenomenon that a group of web users are organized using the Internet and physically approach the retailers together to negotiate for a discount for a particular product or service by using their collective bargaining power. This paper provides a useful initial roadmap to understanding how the pressures from different stakeholders might influence a retailer's decision-making at the Web2.0 age. It also develops propositions to conceptualise the relationship between structural factors and decision outcomes. This paper offers an explanation of why retailers make different decisions to cope with Tuangou activities and concludes with a plan for future studies.published_or_final_versionThe 14th Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS 2010), Taipei, Taiwan, 9-12 July 2010. Our respectful old friend Professor Ting-Peng Liang (in short, TP) whom we loved suddenly passed away on May 20, 2021. But we cannot forget his smile and passion, and his inerasable footprints in PACIS, PAJAIS, and AIS Community. He was the founder of PACIS, founding editor-in-chief of PAJAIS, and past president of AIS to list just a few. He was the pioneer who received the first AIS Fellow and the first LEO Award from Asia Pacific. That is why the leaders of the information systems field organized the first ever special tribute session in PACIS 2021 in memory of TP (https://aisel.aisnet.org/pacis2021/253/

ANALYZING MEDICAL TRANSACTION DATA BY USING ASSOCIATION RULE MINING WITH MULTIPLE MINIMUM SUPPORTS

    Get PDF
The quick development of IS has a huge impact on the healthcare industry. almost all the existing hospitals, clinics and other healthcare-related institutes have adopted a functionally powerful and highly integrated Hospital Information System (HIS) for management of clinic or medical-related affairs. The medical data stored in the HIS are collected from many different medical subsystems, However, problems of failed data sharing and inconsistent data content often occur among these subsystems, resulting in many hospitals collect a large amount of medical data, but not the ability to process and analyse these data properly, letting the valuable data in the HIS all go to waste. In this study, we made a practical visit to a certain hospital in Taiwan and collected radioimmunoassay (RIA) data from the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and the Departmental Registration System (DRS) of this hospital. Further, we proposed a method of the association rule mining in combination with the concept of multiple minimum supports to analyse and find valuable association rules from the RIA data. The analytical results found the method we proposed can indeed find association rules that would not be able to be found with the traditional association mining methods. It is very helpful in improving doctor-patient relationship and upgrading health care quality

Towards An Integrated Effort For Managing IT Process Standards Implementation

    Get PDF
Adopting IT process standards seems to be a trend for IT organizations to meet ad-hoc informational needs and to provide better business value. Due to the changing environments of IT organizations themselves, one key to IT success lies in not only the establishment, but also the sustainability of ad-hoc professional IT functions. As IT organizations face many kinds of process standards to implement for various IT functions and although the implementations may be different due to various IT domains, from the management point of view, these implementations may not exist individually. This article attempts to highlight a possibility of an integrated effort to effectively manage the implementations of IT standards in an IT organization. Such a shared management refers to the integrated institutionalization design, which provides a road map for all IT functions to systematically improve and sustain the implementation results. A case example is provided for demonstrating the proposed attempt

Introducing health information systems to aged care in Vietnam

    Get PDF
Similar to many other countries worldwide, Vietnam is facing a challenge of an ageing population. This challenge is even more difficult to overcome because Vietnam is a developing country lacking an established aged care infrastructure and system. Many aspects of aged care have largely been relied on families of aged people due to a strong influence of Confucian philosophy. Looking after aged parents has always been seen as a responsibility and filial piety of children and their extended families. Therefore, providing healthcare for aged people in their family and community context is important. The paper offers a rich description and an analysis of the current situation of the health state of and healthcare for aged people in Vietnam. The paper also suggests directions for integrating information communication technology into aged care in Vietnam.<br /

Exploring The Use Of Online Social Networking By Employees: Looking At The Potential For Information Leakage

    Get PDF
The proliferation of online social networking (OSN) in recent years has caused organizations information security threats due to disclosure of information by their employees on their sites. The accessibility of OSN to anyone, at any time, using any devices, causes confidential and sensitive organizational information to be disclosed to unauthorised individuals, whether accidentally or intentionally. This study aims to explore this current phenomenon by investigating OSN use behaviour among employees that leads to information leakage through the lens of Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior. It also seeks to investigate the strategies utilized by organizations to control such use and propose a control framework that effectively safeguards organizational information security from this threat

Creating E-Business Value And Firm Performance From Supply Chain Perspective

    Get PDF
After e-commerce (electronic commerce) bubbled in the new millennium, the trend of information technology thus moved forward e-business (electronic business) manifestly. This is because e-business integrated and valued greater than e-commerce both in the physical and virtual networks. Also, it apparently shows that businesses are planning to achieve digitally tightened integration with suppliers, customers, and employees from the development of information technology in recent years. It means that e-business technologies are widely used by businesses. However, not all businesses are successfully using e-business technologies. Some of them face the failure of e-business technologies use to yield satisfactory value and firm performance due to the much more important lack of significant knowledge or capability to use e-business technologies. Therefore, such researches of e-business have been paid much attention by academia and practitioners. This study would initially investigate the relevant references of e-business technologies use and IT integration capability in order to identify the involved relationships. Furthermore, intrafirm integration and interfirm integration are regarded as two significant mediators and then try to verify the influence of above-mentioned variables on e-business value and firm performance so as to propose the research model. The results and findings in this study support the hypotheses we presented in the light of 248 respondents gathered from Taiwan top 1000 enterprises. Expect that there is a guideline to follow and the research model would contribute to enhance the success of e-business value and firm performance for businesses as using e-business technologies. Moreover, the results and findings of this study could be as the reference for academia and practitioners as conducting related researches

E-Procurement System Adoption under Supply Chain Migration: A Case Study of Taiwanese Notebook Company

    Get PDF
This study examines the post adoption of technology and explores why technology may not be sustainable in organizations after its deployment. In contrast with previous studies, which emphasize technology improvement, usersโ€™ post-adoptive behavior, and organization adaptation, this research offers a practice-based analysis and suggests that architectural innovations may bring about a fundamental transition in organizational practices and collaboration patterns. This transformation in organizational principles renders technology obsolescence, and precludes a superficial change in technological features. This case study analyzes an e-procurement system deployed from Taiwan to China and investigates why the initial success of technology use was not transferred to the later application. The technology use within supply chain migration provides a useful context to understand problems of technology sustainability. Important implications are provided to enhance the theoretical development of post technology adoption. Practical insights are discussed with regard to supply chain changes

Understanding Impulsive Buying Behavior in Mobile Commerce

    Get PDF
Mobile commerce, under the mature development of mobile devices and mobile technology services, has gradually influenced consumer shopping behavior and e-commerce patterns. The majority of past research of mobile commerce has concentrated on mobile technology and consumer shopping behavior. Fewer works took a mobile media application point of view to discuss the effects of mobile devices, mobile service performance and content on consumers\u27 impulse buying intent. Therefore, the aim of this study is to take the perspective of mobile media technology convergence on combination with the impulsive personality of consumers and flow experience to understand the impulsive purchase intent of consumers on mobile commerce platforms. Data collected from 322 customers of the iTunes (App store) provide strong support for the research model. The results indicate that a higher level of impulsivity reduces the effect of enjoyment on irresistible urge to buy. The data also show that emotional conflict, positive buying emotion, mood management, cognitive deliberation, disregard the future and unplanned buying are important to impulsivity formation and thus relevant within the context of impulse buying intention. The survey results provide service providers to design applications that attract consumers to make impulse purchases

Short Message Discussions: On The Conversational Nature Of Microblogging In A Large Consultancy Organisation

With the rise of Twitter Microblogging as a phenomenon has gained widespread popularity. As with other social software (e.g. Wikis), organisations have begun experimenting with the application of Microblogging for facilitating internal communication and group processes. However, research on the topic is still in its infancy. In this paper we explore how Yammer, a Twitter-like platform, has been adopted within Capgemini, a large, globally operating consultancy business. In contrast to existing findings on Twitter usage and other Enterprise Microblogging (EMB) cases, we find that EMB in our case is a predominantly conversational medium, where people interact with each other explicitly. Rather than using the platform to inform others about themselves (Twitter) or, about their immediate task/team context as has been described in other EMB cases, the Yammer users in this case are expressing views, discussing opinion and responding to each other. We discuss these results in light of the particular organisational context of the case and the emergent nature of communication technologies. We further demonstrate how the interactive and conversational nature of short message communications has led us to investigate the classification of Microblogging according to the context of its use. We conclude that the appropriation of Enterprise Microblogging is shaped largely by the characteristics of the organisational context in which it is used and propose a model that supports this
