An improved artificial dendrite cell algorithm for abnormal signal detection

    Get PDF
In dendrite cell algorithm (DCA), the abnormality of a data point is determined by comparing the multi-context antigen value (MCAV) with anomaly threshold. The limitation of the existing threshold is that the value needs to be determined before mining based on previous information and the existing MCAV is inefficient when exposed to extreme values. This causes the DCA fails to detect new data points if the pattern has distinct behavior from previous information and affects detection accuracy. This paper proposed an improved anomaly threshold solution for DCA using the statistical cumulative sum (CUSUM) with the aim to improve its detection capability. In the proposed approach, the MCAV were normalized with upper CUSUM and the new anomaly threshold was calculated during run time by considering the acceptance value and min MCAV. From the experiments towards 12 benchmark and two outbreak datasets, the improved DCA is proven to have a better detection result than its previous version in terms of sensitivity, specificity, false detection rate and accuracy

    Hybrid System of Distributed Automation

    Get PDF
One of the most important tendencies in the development of the industrial automation is the application of intelligent control systems within factories, which focuses heavily on networked architectures. Following this line of thinking, the goal of this dissertation resumes itself in the implementation of a distributed system that controls two physical processes, where the system components not only trade information between each other, but also have that same information be accessible remotely and within HMI equipment. The controllers were conceptualized to offer different functional modes with high customization available. This system also takes resource of an OPC server, so it allows, not only the communication between different manufacturer PLC controllers but also the connection with remotes clients The implemented remote clients hold the intent of demonstrating the versatility of this architecture and are, namely, an operational historian that registers information and a data viewer, which allows the use of more advanced methods of monitoring

Networks of sensors and actuators in automated manufacturing processes are implemented using industrial fieldbuses, where automation units and supervisory systems are also connected to exchange operational information. To study the different industrial applications of PLC through ladder diagrams

    Get PDF
PLC has evolved as an important controller in industries these days because of its simplicity and robustness. It is used for controlling many mechanical movements of the heavy machines or to control the voltage and frequency of the power supplies. In this project, study of the PLC has been done in great detail and also several industrial applications have been studied and realized through ladder diagrams. These ladder diagrams are simulated in either PLC trainer or PLC simulator software. Matlab /Simulink is also used for realizing physical situations as in case of dc motor and power inverter. The applications on which we have stressed are the continuous bottle filling system, batch-mixing system, speed control of dc motor,3 stage air conditioning system, control of planar machine and the automatic frequency control of the supply, during induction heating

PLC Implementation of Supervisory Control for a Dynamic Power Flow Controller using a Modular Approach

    Get PDF
Dynamic Power Flow Controller (DPFC) provides steady-state and dynamic power flow control for power lines and is considered as a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) controller. This paper deals with control of a standard DPFC using a Discrete Event System model. The Supervisory Control of DES has been used to implement Modular supervisors for the DPFC. Despite the fact that the SCT is well consolidated, with a large number of publications focusing on the theoretical aspects, the industrial application is unknown. It is mainly due to the complexity of the theory. The numbers of states and events to be controlled are very large even for the seemingly simple systems. In recent years, a model for modular approach to the Supervisory Control for performing the formal synthesis of Supervisors has been proposed. Programmable Logic Controllers are used for the physical implementation of the controllers. Some problems in physical realization of Supervisors in PLCs are dealt with

This paper describes the implementation of the supervision system for the LHC Prototype Full-Cell also known as String 2. The supervision application is based on a commercial package targeted to industrial controls, but because of the complexity and the specifics of such a system, integration with custom components is necessary in order to merge the industrial requirements with the specificity of the accelerator controls

Advanced Control Facility for the CERN-UNICOS Framework

CERN, during last decade, has extensively applied the CERN/UNICOS framework to large scale cryoplant control system. An increase of interested to advanced control techniques and innovative simulation environment applied to cryogenic processes has also occur. Since new control algorithm development into UNICOS framework requires significant time, a control testing platform which can be externally connected can improve and simplify the procedure of testing advanced controllers implementation. In this context, the present paper describes the development of a control testing tool at CERN, which allows rapid control strategies implementation through the Matlab/Simulink® environment, coupled with the large scale cryogenics UNICOS control system or with the CERN PROCOS simulation environment. The time delays which are inherently introduced by network links and communication protocols are analyzed and experimentally identified. Security and reliability issues are also discussed
