Formal and Informal Methods for Multi-Core Design Space Exploration
We propose a tool-supported methodology for design-space exploration for
embedded systems. It provides means to define high-level models of applications
and multi-processor architectures and evaluate the performance of different
deployment (mapping, scheduling) strategies while taking uncertainty into
account. We argue that this extension of the scope of formal verification is
important for the viability of the domain.Comment: In Proceedings QAPL 2014, arXiv:1406.156
A Domain-Specific Language for Multitask Systems, Applying Discrete Controller Synthesis
International audienceWe propose a simple programming language, called Nemo, specific to the domain of multitask real-time control systems, such as in robotic, automotive, or avionics systems. It can be used to specify a set of resources with usage constraints, a set of tasks that consume them according to various modes, and applications sequencing the tasks. We automatically obtain an application-specific task handler that correctly manages the constraints (if there exists one), through a compilation-like process including a phase of discrete controller synthesis. This way, this formal technique contributes to the safety of the designed systems, while being encapsulated in a tool that makes it usable by application experts. Our approach is based on the synchronous modelling techniques, languages, and tools
Computational Intelligence Application in Electrical Engineering
The Special Issue "Computational Intelligence Application in Electrical Engineering" deals with the application of computational intelligence techniques in various areas of electrical engineering. The topics of computational intelligence applications in smart power grid optimization, power distribution system protection, and electrical machine design and control optimization are presented in the Special Issue. The co-simulation approach to metaheuristic optimization methods and simulation tools for a power system analysis are also presented. The main computational intelligence techniques, evolutionary optimization, fuzzy inference system, and an artificial neural network are used in the research presented in the Special Issue. The articles published in this issue present the recent trends in computational intelligence applications in the areas of electrical engineering
