    Early Prediction of Diabetes Using Deep Learning Convolution Neural Network and Harris Hawks Optimization

     Owing to the gravity of the diabetic disease the minimal level symptoms for diabetic failure in the early stage must be forecasted. The prediction system instantaneous and prior must thus be developed to eliminate serious medical factors. Information gathered from Pima Indian Diabetic dataset are synthesized through a profound learning approach that provides features for diabetic level information. Metadata is used to enhance the recognition process for the profound learned features. The distinct details retrieved by integrated machine and computer technology, including glucose level, health information, age, insulin level, etc. Due to the efficacious Hawks Optimization Algorithm (HOA), the data's insignificant participation in diabetic diagnostic processes is minimized in process analysis luminosity. Diabetic disease has been categorized with Deep Learning Convolution Networks (DLCNN) from among the chosen diabetic characteristics. The process output developed is measured on the basis of test results in terms of error rate, sensitivity, specificity and accuracy

    An Optimized Type-2 Self-Organizing Fuzzy Logic Controller Applied in Anesthesia for Propofol Dosing to Regulate BIS

    During general anesthesia, anesthesiologists who provide anesthetic dosage traditionally play a fundamental role to regulate Bispectral Index (BIS). However, in this paper, an optimized type-2 Self-Organizing Fuzzy Logic Controller (SOFLC) is designed for Target Controlled Infusion (TCI) pump related to propofol dosing guided by BIS, to realize automatic control of general anesthesia. The type-2 SOFLC combines a type-2 fuzzy logic controller with a self-organizing (SO) mechanism to facilitate online training while able to contend with operational uncertainties. A novel data driven Surrogate Model (SM) and Genetic Programming (GP) based strategy is introduced for optimizing the type-2 SOFLC parameters offline to handle inter-patient variability. A pharmacological model is built for simulation in which different optimization strategies are tested and compared. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the applicability of our approach and show that the proposed optimization strategy can achieve better control performance in terms of steady state error and robustness

    Genetic fuzzy system predicting contractile reactivity patterns of small arteries

    Monitoring of physiological surrogate end points in drug development generates dynamic time-domain data reflecting the state of the biological system. Conventional data analysis often reduces the information in these data by extracting specific data points, thereby discarding potentially useful information. We developed a genetic fuzzy system (GFS) algorithm that is capable of learning all information in time-domain physiological data. Data on isometric force development of isolated small arteries were used as a framework for developing and optimizing a GFS. GFS performance was improved by several strategies. Results show that optimized fuzzy systems (OFSs) predict contractile reactivity of arteries accurately. In addition, OFSs identified significant differences that were undetectable using conventional analysis in the responses of arteries between groups. We concluded that OFSs may be used in clustering or classification tasks as aids in the objective identification or prediction of dynamic physiological behavior

    Prediction of stroke probability occurrence based on fuzzy cognitive maps

    Among neurological patients, stroke is the most common cause of mortality. It is a health problem that is very costly all over the world. Therefore, the mortality due to the disease can be reduced by identifying and modifying the risk factors. Controllable factors which are contributing to stroke including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and obesity. Therefore, by identifying and controlling the risk factors, stroke can be prevented and the effects of this disease could be reduced to a minimum. Therefore, for the quick and timely diagnosis of the disease, we need an intelligent system to predict the stroke risk. In this paper, a method has been proposed for predicting the risk rate of stroke which is based on fuzzy cognitive maps and nonlinear Hebbian learning algorithm. The accuracy of the proposed NHL-FCM model is tested using 15-fold cross-validation, for 90 actual cases, and compared with those of support vector machine and k-nearest neighbours. The proposed method shows superior performance with a total accuracy of (95.4 ± 7.5)%

    EDMON - Electronic Disease Surveillance and Monitoring Network: A Personalized Health Model-based Digital Infectious Disease Detection Mechanism using Self-Recorded Data from People with Type 1 Diabetes

    Through time, we as a society have been tested with infectious disease outbreaks of different magnitude, which often pose major public health challenges. To mitigate the challenges, research endeavors have been focused on early detection mechanisms through identifying potential data sources, mode of data collection and transmission, case and outbreak detection methods. Driven by the ubiquitous nature of smartphones and wearables, the current endeavor is targeted towards individualizing the surveillance effort through a personalized health model, where the case detection is realized by exploiting self-collected physiological data from wearables and smartphones. This dissertation aims to demonstrate the concept of a personalized health model as a case detector for outbreak detection by utilizing self-recorded data from people with type 1 diabetes. The results have shown that infection onset triggers substantial deviations, i.e. prolonged hyperglycemia regardless of higher insulin injections and fewer carbohydrate consumptions. Per the findings, key parameters such as blood glucose level, insulin, carbohydrate, and insulin-to-carbohydrate ratio are found to carry high discriminative power. A personalized health model devised based on a one-class classifier and unsupervised method using selected parameters achieved promising detection performance. Experimental results show the superior performance of the one-class classifier and, models such as one-class support vector machine, k-nearest neighbor and, k-means achieved better performance. Further, the result also revealed the effect of input parameters, data granularity, and sample sizes on model performances. The presented results have practical significance for understanding the effect of infection episodes amongst people with type 1 diabetes, and the potential of a personalized health model in outbreak detection settings. The added benefit of the personalized health model concept introduced in this dissertation lies in its usefulness beyond the surveillance purpose, i.e. to devise decision support tools and learning platforms for the patient to manage infection-induced crises

    Enhancement of the Tracking Performance for Robot Manipulator by Using the Feed-forward Scheme and Reasonable Switching Mechanism

    Robot manipulator has become an exciting topic for many researchers during several decades. They have investigated the advanced algorithms such as sliding mode control, neural network, or genetic scheme to implement these developments. However, they lacked the integration of these algorithms to explore many potential expansions. Simultaneously, the complicated system requires a lot of computational costs, which is not always supported. Therefore, this paper presents a novel design of switching mechanisms to control the robot manipulator. This investigation is expected to achieve superior performance by flexibly adjusting various strategies for better selection. The Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) scheme is well-known, easy to implement, and ensures rapid computation while it might not have much control effect. The advanced interval type-2 fuzzy sliding mode control properly deals with nonlinear factors and disturbances. Consequently, the PID scheme is switched when the tracking error is less than the threshold or is far from the target. Otherwise, the interval type-2 fuzzy sliding mode control scheme is activated to cope with unknown factors. The main contributions of this paper are (i) the recommendation of a suitable switching mechanism to drive the robot manipulator, (ii) the successful integration of the interval type-2 fuzzy sliding mode control to track the desired trajectory, and (iii) the launching of several tests to validate the proposed controller with robot model. From these achievements, it would be stated that the proposed approach is effective in tracking performance, robust in disturbance-rejection, and feasible in practical implementation

    Advanced Signal Processing and Control in Anaesthesia

    This thesis comprises three major stages: classification of depth of anaesthesia (DOA); modelling a typical patient’s behaviour during a surgical procedure; and control of DOAwith simultaneous administration of propofol and remifentanil. Clinical data gathered in theoperating theatre was used in this project. Multiresolution wavelet analysis was used to extract meaningful features from the auditory evoked potentials (AEP). These features were classified into different DOA levels using a fuzzy relational classifier (FRC). The FRC uses fuzzy clustering and fuzzy relational composition. The FRC had a good performance and was able to distinguish between the DOA levels. A hybrid patient model was developed for the induction and maintenance phase of anaesthesia. An adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system was used to adapt Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy models relating systolic arterial pressure (SAP), heart rate (HR), and the wavelet extracted AEP features with the effect concentrations of propofol and remifentanil. The effect of surgical stimuli on SAP and HR, and the analgesic properties of remifentanil were described by Mamdani fuzzy models, constructed with anaesthetist cooperation. The model proved to be adequate, reflecting the effect of drugs and surgical stimuli. A multivariable fuzzy controller was developed for the simultaneous administration of propofol and remifentanil. The controller is based on linguistic rules that interact with three decision tables, one of which represents a fuzzy PI controller. The infusion rates of the two drugs are determined according to the DOA level and surgical stimulus. Remifentanil is titrated according to the required analgesia level and its synergistic interaction with propofol. The controller was able to adequately achieve and maintain the target DOA level, under different conditions. Overall, it was possible to model the interaction between propofol and remifentanil, and to successfully use this model to develop a closed-loop system in anaesthesia
