Synchronization for different opinions in Malaysia Multiracial Society: a mathematical exploration study
Malaysia is known for the multiracial and multicultural society who lives together
harmoniously despite of the diversities. The tolerance of the people towards each
others’ culture and religions has always been the subject of interest for social science
researchers. The harmony is due to the phenomena of synchronization of the
notions among the community. Synchronization has been widely studied since it
is a natural phenomena happening around us everyday, such as the synchronization
of fireflies flashes at night. In relate of these, we anticipate in the study of
the synchronization of the opinions in a diverse society with mathematical modelling.
In this thesis, we analyse three different methods of synchronization by 3
different models: Kuramoto model, Opinion Changing Rate model and a linear
model associate with the famous Friedkin and Johnsen Model. We first develop a
modified version of existing mathematical models and then conduct the numerical
experiment on the models to utilize them in the desired framework
Assembly and Disassembly Planning by using Fuzzy Logic & Genetic Algorithms
The authors propose the implementation of hybrid Fuzzy Logic-Genetic
Algorithm (FL-GA) methodology to plan the automatic assembly and disassembly
sequence of products. The GA-Fuzzy Logic approach is implemented onto two
levels. The first level of hybridization consists of the development of a Fuzzy
controller for the parameters of an assembly or disassembly planner based on
GAs. This controller acts on mutation probability and crossover rate in order
to adapt their values dynamically while the algorithm runs. The second level
consists of the identification of theoptimal assembly or disassembly sequence
by a Fuzzy function, in order to obtain a closer control of the technological
knowledge of the assembly/disassembly process. Two case studies were analyzed
in order to test the efficiency of the Fuzzy-GA methodologies
Heuristic Solutions for Loading in Flexible Manufacturing Systems
Production planning in flexible manufacturing system deals with the efficient organization of the production resources in order to meet a given production schedule. It is a complex problem and typically leads to several hierarchical subproblems that need to be solved sequentially or simultaneously. Loading is one of the planning subproblems that has to addressed. It involves assigning the necessary operations and tools among the various machines in some optimal fashion to achieve the production of all selected part types. In this paper, we first formulate the loading problem as a 0-1 mixed integer program and then propose heuristic procedures based on Lagrangian relaxation and tabu search to solve the problem. Computational results are presented for all the algorithms and finally, conclusions drawn based on the results are discussed
ATM automation: guidance on human technology integration
© Civil Aviation Authority 2016Human interaction with technology and automation is a key area of interest to industry and safety regulators alike. In February 2014, a joint CAA/industry workshop considered perspectives on present and future implementation of advanced automated systems. The conclusion was that whilst no additional regulation was necessary, guidance material for industry and regulators was required. Development of this guidance document was completed in 2015 by a working group consisting of CAA, UK industry, academia and industry associations (see Appendix B). This enabled a collaborative approach to be taken, and for regulatory, industry, and workforce perspectives to be collectively considered and addressed. The processes used in developing this guidance included: review of the themes identified from the February 2014 CAA/industry workshop1; review of academic papers, textbooks on automation, incidents and accidents involving automation; identification of key safety issues associated with automated systems; analysis of current and emerging ATM regulatory requirements and guidance material; presentation of emerging findings for critical review at UK and European aviation safety conferences. In December 2015, a workshop of senior management from project partner organisations reviewed the findings and proposals. EASA were briefed on the project before its commencement, and Eurocontrol contributed through membership of the Working Group.Final Published versio
