    Mobile support in CSCW applications and groupware development frameworks

    Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) is an established subset of the field of Human Computer Interaction that deals with the how people use computing technology to enhance group interaction and collaboration. Mobile CSCW has emerged as a result of the progression from personal desktop computing to the mobile device platforms that are ubiquitous today. CSCW aims to not only connect people and facilitate communication through using computers; it aims to provide conceptual models coupled with technology to manage, mediate, and assist collaborative processes. Mobile CSCW research looks to fulfil these aims through the adoption of mobile technology and consideration for the mobile user. Facilitating collaboration using mobile devices brings new challenges. Some of these challenges are inherent to the nature of the device hardware, while others focus on the understanding of how to engineer software to maximize effectiveness for the end-users.     Description of six scenarios and of the results of six validated trialsThis deliverable aims at presenting and analysing the processes of elaboration and validation of the PALETTE scenarios. After having defined these two processes and situated them into the PALETTE methodology, the scenarios are presented. For each scenario, the specific methodology of elaboration and validation is described with a special focus on the participation of the concerned Communities of Pratcice (CoPs). Then the results of the validation are presented as well as the reports of their technical feasability and the usability of PALETTE services from a user perspective. Finally we reflect on and we discuss about the whole process of validation of the scenarios and we describe the next steps towards the development of the scenarios and their trilas with the CoPs

    This document outlines my thinking on the design of a scenario-based learning environment. The material presented falls into two distinct categories. These are presenting work completed so far and presenting current thinking on the design. As such, some of the material is based on experience over a number of years of using the approaches described and some is very tentative and needs further development. The nature of a learning environment raises issues in many domains. These include educational issues and technical implementation issues.     Abstract. The scenario defined by current Web architectures and paradigms (such as Cloud Computing), poses challenges and opportunities to users. On the one hand, they have to manage huge amounts of digital resources handled by different applications in spite of their possibly related content; on the other hand, they are enabled to share knowledge and participate to content creation. The interaction of these two aspects provided a great impulse to collaborative resource management: in this paper we present T++, an environment that ex-ploits semantic knowledge about digital resources in order to face these chal-lenges, by providing an integrated and smart management of heterogeneous in-formation objects

The research included an extensive literature review on collaboration in philanthropy, detailed analysis of trends from a recent Foundation Center survey of the largest U.S. foundations, interviews with 37 leading philanthropy professionals and technology experts, and a review of over 170 online tools.The report is a story about how new tools are changing the way funders collaborate.     Improving reproducibility and reuse of modelling results in the life sciences

    Research results are complex and include a variety of heterogeneous data. This entails major computational challenges to (i) to manage simulation studies, (ii) to ensure model exchangeability, stability and validity, and (iii) to foster communication between partners. I describe techniques to improve the reproducibility and reuse of modelling results. First, I introduce a method to characterise differences in computational models. Second, I present approaches to obtain shareable and reproducible research results. Altogether, my methods and tools foster exchange and reuse of modelling results.Die verteilte Entwicklung von komplexen Simulationsstudien birgt eine große Zahl an informationstechnischen Herausforderungen: (i) Modelle müssen verwaltet werden; (ii) Reproduzierbarkeit, Stabilität und Gültigkeit von Ergebnissen muss sichergestellt werden; und (iii) die Kommunikation zwischen Partnern muss verbessert werden. Ich stelle Techniken vor, um die Reproduzierbarkeit und Wiederverwendbarkeit von Modellierungsergebnissen zu verbessern.     A Collaborative B2E Based on A P2P Platform

    Companies, large and small, are rapidly adopting Business-to-Employee (B2E) applications hoping to improve productivity of their work force. However, most B2E applications do not provide a good sense of community and lack of collaboration and interaction among its users. Consequently, employees are not motivated to fully utilize the contents and information provided by these applications. Peer-to-peer (P2P) computing is proven to be a good platform that provides and supports community by empowering users to collaborate and interact with one another.
