Development of bambangan (Mangifera pajang) carbonated drink
Mangifera pajang Kostermans or bambangan is a popular fruit among Sabahan due
to its health and economic values. However, the fruit is not fully commercialized since it is
usually been used as traditional cuisine by local people. Thus, development of bambangan fruit
into carbonated drink was conducted to produce new product concept. The objectives of this
study were to conceptualize, formulate, evaluate consumer acceptance, and determine
physicochemical properties and nutritional composition of the accepted product. Method used
in conceptualising the product was based on questionnaire. The consumer acceptance was
evaluated based on descriptive and affective tests with four product formulations tested. The
physicochemical properties on carbon dioxide volume, colour, pH, total acidity, total soluble
solid (TSS) and viscosity were highlighted, meanwhile nutritional composition on fat, protein,
carbohydrates and energy content were determined. About 77% respondents gave positive
feedback, and 69% respondents decided this product is within their budget. The formulation of
5% bambangan pulp, 70% water, 25% sugar and 0.2% citric acid was highly accepted in
descriptive and affective tests with 4.4 and 6.39 mean scores, respectively. The
physicochemical properties and nutritional composition of the acceptance product were in
optimum value except for colour, total acidity and TSS. Overall, this study showed that the
product has high potential to be commercialized as new product concept, and heritage of
indigenous people can be preserved when this fruit is known regionally

Web Service Trust: Towards A Dynamic Assessment Framework
Trust in software services is a key prerequisite for the success and wide adoption of services-oriented computing (SOC) in an open Internet world. However, trust is poorly assessed by existing methods and technologies, especially in dynamically composed and deployed SOC systems. In this paper, we discuss current methods for assessing trust in service-oriented computing and identify gaps of current platforms, in particular with regards to runtime trust assessment. To address these gaps, we propose a model of runtime trust assessment of software services and introduce a framework for realizing the model. A key characteristic of our approach is the support that it offers for customizable assessment of trust based on evidence collected during the operation of software services and its ability to combine this evidence with subjective assessments coming from service clients
Knowledge Discovery in Online Repositories: A Text Mining Approach
Before the advent of the Internet, the newspapers were the prominent instrument of
mobilization for independence and political struggles. Since independence in Nigeria, the
political class has adopted newspapers as a medium of Political Competition and
Communication. Consequently, most political information exists in unstructured form and
hence the need to tap into it using text mining algorithm.
This paper implements a text mining algorithm on some unstructured data format in some newspapers. The algorithm involves the following natural language processing techniques: tokenization, text filtering and refinement. As a follow-up to the natural language techniques, association rule mining technique of data mining is used to extract knowledge using the Modified Generating Association Rules based on Weighting scheme (GARW).
The main contributions of the technique are that it integrates information retrieval scheme (Term Frequency Inverse Document Frequency) (for keyword/feature selection that automatically selects the most discriminative keywords for use in association rules generation) with Data Mining technique for association rules discovery. The program is applied to Pre-Election information gotten from the website of the Nigerian Guardian newspaper. The extracted association rules contained important features and described the informative news included in the documents collection when related to the concluded 2007 presidential election. The system presented useful information that could help sanitize the polity as well as protect the nascent democracy
