Algorithm of arithmetical operations with fuzzy numerical data

    Get PDF
In this article the theoretical generalization for representation of arithmetic operations with fuzzy numbers is considered. Fuzzy numbers are generalized by means of fuzzy measures. On the basis of this generalization the new algorithm of fuzzy arithmetic which uses a principle of entropy maximum is created. As example, the summation of two fuzzy numbers is considered. The algorithm is realized in the software "Fuzzy for Microsoft Excel".fuzzy measure (Sugeno), fuzzy integral (Sugeno), fuzzy numbers; arithmetical operations; principle of entropy maximum

Fuzzy entropy from weak fuzzy subsethood measures

In this paper, we propose a new construction method for fuzzy and weak fuzzy subsethood measures based on the aggregation of implication operators. We study the desired properties of the implication operators in order to construct these measures. We also show the relationship between fuzzy entropy and weak fuzzy subsethood measures constructed by our method

A New Type of Compositive Information Entropy for IvIFS and Its Applications

We first show the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy entropy which reflects intuitionism and fuzziness of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (IvIFS) based on interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy cross-entropy. As for intuitionism and fuzziness of IvIFS, we propose interval-valued intuitionistic entropy and interval-valued fuzzy entropy, respectively. Furthermore, we establish the interval-valued span entropy describing the uncertainty of membership degree and nonmembership degree and show some concrete measure formulas. Combining intuitionistic factor, fuzzy factor, and span factor, we ultimately put forward the axiomatic definition of the compositive entropy and give a measure formula of compositive entropy. In addition, the effectiveness of the compositive entropy measure is illuminated by comparison with other entropy measures. Furthermore, the compositive entropy is applied to multiple attributes’ decision-making by using the weighted correlation coefficient between IvIFSs and pattern recognition by a similarity measure transformed from the compositive entropy

Entropy Measures for Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Their Application in Group Decision-Making

Entropy measure is an important topic in the fuzzy set theory and has been investigated by many researchers from different points of view. In this paper, two new entropy measures based on the cosine function are proposed for intuitionistic fuzzy sets and interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets. According to the features of the cosine function, the general forms of these two kinds of entropy measures are presented. Compared with the existing ones, the proposed entropy measures can overcome some shortcomings and be used to measure both fuzziness and intuitionism of these two fuzzy sets; as a result, the uncertain information of which can be described more sufficiently. These entropy measures have been applied to assess the experts’ weights and to solve multicriteria fuzzy group decision-making problems

Knowledge Granulation, Rough Entropy and Uncertainty Measure in Incomplete Fuzzy Information System

Many real world problems deal with ordering of objects instead of classifying objects, although most of research in data analysis has been focused on the latter. One of the extensions of classical rough sets to take into account the ordering properties is dominance-based rough sets approach which is mainly based on substitution of the indiscernibility relation by a dominance relation. In this paper, we address knowledge measures and reduction in incomplete fuzzy information system using the approach. Firstly, new definitions of knowledge granulation and rough entropy are given, and some important properties of them are investigated. Then, dominance matrix about the measures knowledge granulation and rough entropy is obtained, which could be used to eliminate the redundant attributes in incomplete fuzzy information system. Lastly, a matrix algorithm for knowledge reduction is proposed. An example illustrates the validity of this method and shows the method is applicable to complex fuzzy system. Experiments are also made to show the performance of the newly proposed algorithm

Strict Intuitionistic Fuzzy Distance/Similarity Measures Based on Jensen-Shannon Divergence

Being a pair of dual concepts, the normalized distance and similarity measures are very important tools for decision-making and pattern recognition under intuitionistic fuzzy sets framework. To be more effective for decision-making and pattern recognition applications, a good normalized distance measure should ensure that its dual similarity measure satisfies the axiomatic definition. In this paper, we first construct some examples to illustrate that the dual similarity measures of two nonlinear distance measures introduced in [A distance measure for intuitionistic fuzzy sets and its application to pattern classification problems, \emph{IEEE Trans. Syst., Man, Cybern., Syst.}, vol.~51, no.~6, pp. 3980--3992, 2021] and [Intuitionistic fuzzy sets: spherical representation and distances, \emph{Int. J. Intell. Syst.}, vol.~24, no.~4, pp. 399--420, 2009] do not meet the axiomatic definition of intuitionistic fuzzy similarity measure. We show that (1) they cannot effectively distinguish some intuitionistic fuzzy values (IFVs) with obvious size relationship; (2) except for the endpoints, there exist infinitely many pairs of IFVs, where the maximum distance 1 can be achieved under these two distances; leading to counter-intuitive results. To overcome these drawbacks, we introduce the concepts of strict intuitionistic fuzzy distance measure (SIFDisM) and strict intuitionistic fuzzy similarity measure (SIFSimM), and propose an improved intuitionistic fuzzy distance measure based on Jensen-Shannon divergence. We prove that (1) it is a SIFDisM; (2) its dual similarity measure is a SIFSimM; (3) its induced entropy is an intuitionistic fuzzy entropy. Comparative analysis and numerical examples demonstrate that our proposed distance measure is completely superior to the existing ones

Statistical mechanics and information-theoretic perspectives on complexity in the Earth system

    Get PDF
This review provides a summary of methods originated in (non-equilibrium) statistical mechanics and information theory, which have recently found successful applications to quantitatively studying complexity in various components of the complex system Earth. Specifically, we discuss two classes of methods: (i) entropies of different kinds (e.g., on the one hand classical Shannon and R´enyi entropies, as well as non-extensive Tsallis entropy based on symbolic dynamics techniques and, on the other hand, approximate entropy, sample entropy and fuzzy entropy); and (ii) measures of statistical interdependence and causality (e.g., mutual information and generalizations thereof, transfer entropy, momentary information transfer). We review a number of applications and case studies utilizing the above-mentioned methodological approaches for studying contemporary problems in some exemplary fields of the Earth sciences, highlighting the potentials of different techniques
