Parity space-based fault detection for Markovian jump systems

    Get PDF
This article deals with problems of parity space-based fault detection for a class of discrete-time linear Markovian jump systems. A new algorithm is firstly introduced to reduce the computation of mode-dependent redundancy relation parameter matrices. Different from the case of linear time invariant systems, the parity space-based residual generator for a Markovian jump system cannot be designed off-line because it depends on the history of system modes in the last finite steps. In order to overcome this difficulty, a finite set of parity matrices is pre-designed applying a unified approach to linear time invariant systems. Then the on-line residual generation can be easily implemented. Moreover, the problem of residual evaluation is also considered which includes the determination of a residual evaluation function and a threshold. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

A data-based approach for multivariate model predictive control performance monitoring

    No full text
An intelligent statistical approach is proposed for monitoring the performance of multivariate model predictive control (MPC) controller, which systematically integrates both the assessment and diagnosis procedures. Model predictive error is included into the monitored variable set and a 2-norm based covariance benchmark is presented. By comparing the data of a monitored operational period with the "golden" user-predefined one, this method can properly evaluate the performance of an MPC controller at the monitored operational stage. Characteristic direction information is mined from the operating data and the corresponding classes are built. The eigenvector angle is defined to describe the similarity between the current data set and the established classes, and an angle-based classifier is introduced to identify the root cause of MPC performance degradation when a poor performance is detected. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is demonstrated in a case study of the Wood–Berry distillation column system

Cylindrical roller bearing fault diagnosis based on VMD-SVD and Adaboost classifier method

Fault diagnosis for cylindrical roller bearing is of great significance for industry. In order to excavate the features of the vibration signal adequately, and to construct an effective classifier for complex vibration signals, this paper proposed a new fault diagnosis method based on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD), Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Adaboost classifier. Firstly, the VMD was applied to decompose the sampled vibration signal in time-frequency domain. Subsequently, the features were extracted by using SVD. Finally, the constructed Adaboost classifier were employed to fault detection and diagnosis, which were trained by using the extracted features. Experimental data measured in a rotating machinery fault diagnosis experiment platform was used to verify the proposed method. The results demonstrate that the proposed method was effective to detect and diagnose the outer ring fault and rolling element fault in cylindrical roller bearing
