Robust Stability of Quantum Systems with Nonlinear Dynamic Uncertainties
This paper considers the problem of robust stability for a class of uncertain
nonlinear quantum systems subject to unknown perturbations in the system
Hamiltonian. The nominal system is a linear quantum system defined by a linear
vector of coupling operators and a quadratic Hamiltonian. This paper extends
previous results on the robust stability of nonlinear quantum systems to allow
for quantum systems with dynamic uncertainties. These dynamic uncertainties are
required to satisfy a certain quantum stochastic integral quadratic constraint.
The robust stability condition is given in terms of a strict bounded real
condition. This result is applied to the robust stability analysis of an
optical parametric amplifier.Comment: A shortened version is to appear in the proceedings of the 2013 IEEE

Delay-dependent stabilization of stochastic interval delay systems with nonlinear disturbances
This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obtained from the link below - Copyright 2007 Elsevier Ltd.In this paper, a delay-dependent approach is developed to deal with the robust stabilization problem for a class of stochastic time-delay interval systems with nonlinear disturbances. The system matrices are assumed to be uncertain within given intervals, the time delays appear in both the system states and the nonlinear disturbances, and the stochastic perturbation is in the form of a Brownian motion. The purpose of the addressed stochastic stabilization problem is to design a memoryless state feedback controller such that, for all admissible interval uncertainties and nonlinear disturbances, the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable in the mean square, where the stability criteria are dependent on the length of the time delay and therefore less conservative. By using ItƓ's differential formula and the Lyapunov stability theory, sufficient conditions are first derived for ensuring the stability of the stochastic interval delay systems. Then, the controller gain is characterized in terms of the solution to a delay-dependent linear matrix inequality (LMI), which can be easily solved by using available software packages. A numerical example is exploited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design procedure. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Nuffield Foundation of the UK under Grant NAL/00630/G, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany
Backstepping controller design for a class of stochastic nonlinear systems with Markovian switching
A more general class of stochastic nonlinear systems with irreducible homogenous Markovian switching are considered in this paper. As preliminaries, the stability criteria and the existence theorem of strong solutions are first presented by using the inequality of mathematic expectation of a Lyapunov function. The state-feedback controller is designed by regarding Markovian switching as constant such that the closed-loop system has a unique solution, and the equilibrium is asymptotically stable in probability in the large. The output-feedback controller is designed based on a quadratic-plus-quartic-form Lyapunov function such that the closed-loop system has a unique solution with the equilibrium being asymptotically stable in probability in the large in the unbiased case and has a unique bounded-in-probability solution in the biased case
Almost Sure Stability and Stabilization for Hybrid Stochastic Systems with Time-Varying Delays
The problems of almost sure (a.s.) stability and a.s. stabilization are investigated for hybrid stochastic systems (HSSs) with time-varying delays. The different time-varying delays in the drift part and in the diffusion part are considered. Based on nonnegative semimartingale convergence theorem, Hƶlderās inequality, Doobās martingale inequality, and Chebyshevās inequality, some sufficient conditions are proposed to guarantee that the underlying nonlinear hybrid stochastic delay systems (HSDSs) are almost surely (a.s.) stable. With these conditions, a.s. stabilization problem for a class of nonlinear HSDSs is addressed through designing linear state feedback controllers, which are obtained in terms of the solutions to a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Two numerical simulation examples are given to show the usefulness of the results derived
