    Translating semantic web service based business process models

    We describe a model-driven translation approach between Semantic Web Service based business process models in the context of the SUPER project. In SUPER we provide a set of business process ontologies for enabling access to the business process space inside the organisation at the semantic level. One major task in this context is to handle the translations between the provided ontologies in order to navigate from different views at the business level to the IT view at the execution level. In this paper we present the results of our translation approach, which transforms instances of BPMO to instances of sBPEL

    In this paper we describe the Business Process Modelling Ontology (BPMO), which is part of an approach to modelling business processes at the semantic level, integrating knowledge about the organisational context, workflow activities and Semantic Web Services. We harness knowledge representation and reasoning techniques so that business process workflows can: be exposed and shared through semantic descriptions; refer to semantically annotated data and services; incorporate heterogeneous data though semantic mappings; and be queried using a reasoner or inference engine.     Towards an ontology for process monitoring and mining

    Business Process Analysis (BPA) aims at monitoring, diagnosing, simulating and mining enacted processes in order to support the analysis and enhancement of process models. An effective BPA solution must provide the means for analysing existing e-businesses at three levels of abstraction: the Business Level, the Process Level and the IT Level. BPA requires semantic information that spans these layers of abstraction and which should be easily retrieved from audit trails. To cater for this, we describe the Process Mining Ontology and the Events Ontology which aim to support the analysis of enacted processes at different levels of abstraction spanning from fine grain technical details to coarse grain aspects at the Business Level

    Dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of Master of Science in Geospatial TechnologiesImplementation of the INSPIRE directive, the spatial data infrastructure for the Europe, has created a necessity for easy and convenient conversion between different models of geospatial data. Data model transformation across heterogeneous systems can be hampered by differences in terminology and conceptualization, particularly when multiple communities are involved. Requirement in current situation is an interface facilitating transformation of data to a desired format and immediate use of the data, which are collected from different formats and models. Ontology-aware software with shared understanding of concepts, enable users to interact with geospatial data models. Thus use of ontologies could make a friendly environment to the user in translating the data conveniently. Feature type ontologies, along with annotations are provided from an ongoing project at the Institute for Geoinformatics (IfGI, University of Münster, Germany), in order to reconcile differences in semantics. FME workbench provides a successful environment to execute set of rules for the data model transformation using a mapping file, which can be developed externally. The thesis work developed a user interface that includes operations to define rules for the translation of geospatial data, from one model to another.     Semantic Web Languages and Semantic Web Services as Application Areas for Answer Set Programming

    In the Semantic Web and Semantic Web Services areas there are still unclear issues concerning an appropriate language. Answer Set Programming and ASP engines can be particularly interesting for Ontological Reasoning, especially in the light of ongoing discussions of non-Monotonic extensions for Ontology Languages. Previously, the main concern of discussions was around OWL and Description Logics. Recently many extensions and suggestions for Rule Languages and Semantic Web Languages pop up, particularly in the the context of Semantic Web Services, which involve the meta-data description of Services instaead of static data on the Web only. These lanuages involve SWRL, WSML, SWSL-Rules, etc. I want to give an outline of languages, challenges and initiatives in this area and where I think Answer Set Programming research can hook in.
