    On the validity of memristor modeling in the neural network literature

    An analysis of the literature shows that there are two types of non-memristive models that have been widely used in the modeling of so-called "memristive" neural networks. Here, we demonstrate that such models have nothing in common with the concept of memristive elements: they describe either non-linear resistors or certain bi-state systems, which all are devices without memory. Therefore, the results presented in a significant number of publications are at least questionable, if not completely irrelevant to the actual field of memristive neural networks

    Improved results on an extended dissipative analysis of neural networks with additive time-varying delays using auxiliary function-based integral inequalities

    The issue of extended dissipative analysis for neural networks (NNs) with additive time-varying delays (ATVDs) is examined in this research. Some less conservative sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the NNs are asymptotically stable and extended dissipative by building the agumented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, which is achieved by utilizing some mathematical techniques with improved integral inequalities like auxiliary function-based integral inequalities (gives a tighter upper bound). The present study aims to solve the H,L2L H_{\infty}, L_2-L_{\infty} , passivity and (Q,S,R) (Q, S, R) -γ \gamma -dissipativity performance in a unified framework based on the extended dissipativity concept. Following this, the condition for the solvability of the designed NNs with ATVDs is presented in the form of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, the practicality and effectiveness of this approach were demonstrated through four numerical examples

    Abstract. This paper investigates the problems of delay-dependent passive analysis and control for uncertain stochastic systems with time-varying delay and norm-bounded parameters uncertainties. Delay-dependent stochastic passive condition for the uncertain stochastic time-delay systems is obtained based on Laypunov-Krasovkii functional approach. On the basis of this condition, a delay-dependent passive controller is presented. Sufficient condition for the existence of desired controller is formulated in terms of linear matrix inequality. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

    Recent advances on filtering and control for nonlinear stochastic complex systems with incomplete information: A survey

    This Article is provided by the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund - Copyright @ 2012 Hindawi PublishingSome recent advances on the filtering and control problems for nonlinear stochastic complex systems with incomplete information are surveyed. The incomplete information under consideration mainly includes missing measurements, randomly varying sensor delays, signal quantization, sensor saturations, and signal sampling. With such incomplete information, the developments on various filtering and control issues are reviewed in great detail. In particular, the addressed nonlinear stochastic complex systems are so comprehensive that they include conventional nonlinear stochastic systems, different kinds of complex networks, and a large class of sensor networks. The corresponding filtering and control technologies for such nonlinear stochastic complex systems are then discussed. Subsequently, some latest results on the filtering and control problems for the complex systems with incomplete information are given.     Stability Analysis of Delayed Genetic Regulatory Networks via a Relaxed Double Integral Inequality

    Time delay arising in a genetic regulatory network may cause the instability. This paper is concerned with the stability analysis of genetic regulatory networks with interval time-varying delays. Firstly, a relaxed double integral inequality, named as Wirtinger-type double integral inequality (WTDII), is established to estimate the double integral term appearing in the derivative of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional with a triple integral term. And it is proved theoretically that the proposed WTDII is tighter than the widely used Jensen-based double inequality and the recently developed Wiringter-based double inequality. Then, by applying the WTDII to the stability analysis of a delayed genetic regulatory network, together with the usage of useful information of regulatory functions, several delay-range- and delay-rate-dependent (or delay-rate-independent) criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an example is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method and also to show the advantages of the established stability criteria through the comparison with some literature

    Control design for discrete-time fuzzy systems with disturbance inputs via delta operator approach

    This paper is concerned with the problem of passive control design for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with time delay and disturbance input via delta operator approach. The discrete-time passive performance index is established in this paper for the control design problem. By constructing a new type ofLyapunov-Krasovskii function (LKF) in delta domain, and utilizing some fuzzy weighing matrices, a new passive performance condition is proposed for the system under consideration. Based on the condition, a state-feedback passive controller is designed to guarantee that the resulting closed-loop system is very-strictly passive. The existence conditions of the controller can be expressed by linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method

    New Results on Passivity Analysis of Delayed Discrete-Time Stochastic Neural Networks

    The problem of passivity analysis for a class of discrete-time stochastic neural networks (DSNNs) with time-varying interval delay is investigated. The delay-dependent sufficient criteria are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The results are shown to be generalization of some previous results and are less conservative than the existing works. Meanwhile, the computational complexity of the obtained stability conditions is reduced because less variables are involved. Two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness and the benefits of the proposed method
