Triple positive solutions for semipositone fractional differential equations m-point boundary value problems with singularities and p–q-order derivatives

In this paper, by means of Leggett–Williams and Guo–Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorems, together with height functions of the nonlinearity on different bounded sets, triple positive solutions are obtained for some fractional differential equations with p–q-order derivatives involved in multi-point boundary value conditions. The nonlinearity may not only take negative infinity but also may permit singularities on both the time and the space variables

Classes of Singular Nonlinear Eigenvalue Problems with Semipositone Structure

The investigation of positive steady states to reaction diffusion models in bounded domains with Dirichlet boundary conditions has been of great interest since the 1960’s. We study reaction diffusion models where the reaction term is negative at the origin. In the literature, such problems are referred to as semipositone problems and have been studied for the last 30 years. In this dissertation, we extend the theory of semipositone problems to classes of singular semipositone problems where the reaction term has singularities at certain locations in the domain. In particular, we consider problems where the reaction term approaches negative infinity at these locations. We establish several existence results when the domain is a smooth bounded region or an exterior domain. Some uniqueness results are also obtained. Our existence results are achieved by the method of sub and super solutions, while our uniqueness results are proved by establishing a priori estimates and analyzing structural properties of the solution. We also extend many of our results to systems

Analysis of classes of singular steady state reaction diffusion equations

We study positive radial solutions to classes of steady state reaction diffusion problems on the exterior of a ball with both Dirichlet and nonlinear boundary conditions. We study both Laplacian as well as p-Laplacian problems with reaction terms that are p-sublinear at infinity. We consider both positone and semipositone reaction terms and establish existence, multiplicity and uniqueness results. Our existence and multiplicity results are achieved by a method of sub-supersolutions and uniqueness results via a combination of maximum principles, comparison principles, energy arguments and a-priori estimates. Our results significantly enhance the literature on p-sublinear positone and semipositone problems. Finally, we provide exact bifurcation curves for several one-dimensional problems. In the autonomous case, we extend and analyze a quadrature method, and in the nonautonomous case, we employ shooting methods. We use numerical solvers in Mathematica to generate the bifurcation curves

On a singular Riemann–Liouville fractional boundary value problem with parameters

    Get PDF
We investigate the existence of positive solutions for a nonlinear Riemann–Liouville fractional differential equation with a positive parameter subject to nonlocal boundary conditions, which contain fractional derivatives and Riemann–Stieltjes integrals. The nonlinearity of the equation is nonnegative, and it may have singularities at its variables. In the proof of the main results, we use the fixed point index theory and the principal characteristic value of an associated linear operator. A related semipositone problem is also studied by using the Guo–Krasnosel’skii fixed point theorem

By constructing a special cone and using a fixed-point theorem in cone, this paper investigates the existence of multiple solutions of coupled integral boundary value problems for a nonlinear singular differential system

Positive solutions of higher order fractional integral boundary value problem with a parameter

In this paper, we study a higher-order fractional differential equation with integral boundary conditions and a parameter. Under different conditions of nonlinearity, existence and nonexistence results for positive solutions are derived in terms of different intervals of parameter. Our approach relies on the Guo–Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem on cones
