Intelligent Integrated Management for Telecommunication Networks
As the size of communication networks keeps on growing, faster connections, cooperating technologies and the divergence of equipment and data communications, the management of the resulting networks gets additional important and time-critical. More advanced tools are needed to support this activity. In this article we describe the design and implementation of a management platform using Artificial Intelligent reasoning technique. For this goal we make use of an expert system. This study focuses on an intelligent framework and a language for formalizing knowledge management descriptions and combining them with existing OSI management model. We propose a new paradigm where the intelligent network management is integrated into the conceptual repository of management information called Managed Information Base (MIB). This paper outlines the development of an expert system prototype based in our propose GDMO+ standard and describes the most important facets, advantages and drawbacks that were found after prototyping our proposal
Research issues in real-time database systems

Efficient database management algorithms for accessing and manipulating data are
required to satisfy timing constraints of supported applications. Real-time database
systems involve a new research area investigating possible ways of applying database
systems technology to real-time systems. Management of real-time information through
a database system requires the integration of concepts from both real-time systems and
database systems. Some new criteria need to be developed to involve timing constraints
of real-time applications in many database systems design issues, such as
transaction/query processing, data buffering, CPU, and IO scheduling. In this paper, a
basic understanding of the issues in real-time database systems is provided and the
research efforts in this area are introduced. Different approaches to various problems of
real-time database systems are briefly described, and possible future research directions
are discussed
HOW GOVERNMENTS RESPOND TO BUSINESS DEMANDS FOR TAX CUTS: AN ANALYSIS OF CORPORATE AND INHERITANCE TAX REFORMS IN AUSTRIA AND SWEDEN. CES Open Forum Series 2018-2019
This paper analyses government responsiveness to business demands for tax cuts, using case
studies of reforms of corporate taxes and inheritance taxes in Austria and Sweden. We find a
high level of government responsiveness in both policy fields, but much higher
responsiveness on inheritance tax. We argue that this difference between the two policy fields
is the result of an effort by governments to balance three conflicting goals: (i) attracting
investments, (ii) maintaining a high level of tax revenues, (iii) and maintaining electoral
popularity. The intensity of these goal conflicts varied between the two policy fields. It was
higher on corporate taxation, which led governments to combine cuts to corporate tax with
compensatory measures, the abolition of inheritance tax in both countries was not combined
with compensatory measures, because goal conflicts were low. We show that differences in
the expected electoral and fiscal impacts of reforms explain the different levels of government
responsiveness. Government efforts to reconcile the three policy goals under conditions of
heightened business power entailed sacrificing redistributive goals that have characterized tax
policies in earlier periods.
Methodology for object-oriented real-time systems analysis and design: Software engineering
Successful application of software engineering methodologies requires an integrated analysis and design life-cycle in which the various phases flow smoothly 'seamlessly' from analysis through design to implementation. Furthermore, different analysis methodologies often lead to different structuring of the system so that the transition from analysis to design may be awkward depending on the design methodology to be used. This is especially important when object-oriented programming is to be used for implementation when the original specification and perhaps high-level design is non-object oriented. Two approaches to real-time systems analysis which can lead to an object-oriented design are contrasted: (1) modeling the system using structured analysis with real-time extensions which emphasizes data and control flows followed by the abstraction of objects where the operations or methods of the objects correspond to processes in the data flow diagrams and then design in terms of these objects; and (2) modeling the system from the beginning as a set of naturally occurring concurrent entities (objects) each having its own time-behavior defined by a set of states and state-transition rules and seamlessly transforming the analysis models into high-level design models. A new concept of a 'real-time systems-analysis object' is introduced and becomes the basic building block of a series of seamlessly-connected models which progress from the object-oriented real-time systems analysis and design system analysis logical models through the physical architectural models and the high-level design stages. The methodology is appropriate to the overall specification including hardware and software modules. In software modules, the systems analysis objects are transformed into software objects
