The implementation of a multimedia learning environment for graduate civil engineers

The Facets of Place
This chapter will outline one theory aimed at integrating aspects of environmental
psychology with issues in architectural design. The theory to be reviewed is broad
in those characteristics of theory that Moore (1987) called their 'form and scope'.
This broad brush, top down approach is intended as a contrast with bottom up
attempts to specify the behavioural effects of specific aspects of design, such as
lighting levels or size of spaces. It also contrasts with models that seek to answer
immediate design problems. However, in Moore's (1987) vocabulary, the theory
to be outlined is more than an 'orientation', or 'framework'. It is an 'explanatory
theory' that has been found to have considerable scope, open to direct empirical
test
A New Approach for Quality Management in Pervasive Computing Environments
This paper provides an extension of MDA called Context-aware Quality Model
Driven Architecture (CQ-MDA) which can be used for quality control in pervasive
computing environments. The proposed CQ-MDA approach based on
ContextualArchRQMM (Contextual ARCHitecture Quality Requirement MetaModel),
being an extension to the MDA, allows for considering quality and
resources-awareness while conducting the design process. The contributions of
this paper are a meta-model for architecture quality control of context-aware
applications and a model driven approach to separate architecture concerns from
context and quality concerns and to configure reconfigurable software
architectures of distributed systems. To demonstrate the utility of our

Software agents in music and sound art research/creative work: Current state and a possible direction
Composers, musicians and computer scientists have begun to use software-based agents to create music and sound art in both linear and non-linear (non-predetermined form and/or content) idioms, with some robust approaches now drawing on various disciplines. This paper surveys recent work: agent technology is first introduced, a theoretical framework for its use in creating music/sound art works put forward, and an overview of common approaches then given. Identifying areas of neglect in recent research, a possible direction for further work is then briefly explored. Finally, a vision for a new hybrid model that integrates non-linear, generative, conversational and affective perspectives on interactivity is proposed

Adaptive Intelligent Tutoring System for learning Computer Theory
In this paper, we present an intelligent tutoring system developed to help students in learning Computer Theory. The Intelligent tutoring system was built using ITSB authoring tool. The system helps students to learn finite automata, pushdown automata, Turing machines and examines the relationship between these automata and formal languages, deterministic and nondeterministic machines, regular expressions, context free grammars, undecidability, and complexity. During the process the intelligent tutoring system gives assistance and feedback of many types in an intelligent manner according to the behavior of the student. An evaluation of the intelligent tutoring system has revealed reasonably acceptable results in terms of its usability and learning abilities are concerned
