    A Novel PMSM Hybrid Sensorless Control Strategy for EV Applications Based on PLL and HFI

    In this paper, a novel hybrid sensorless control strategy for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) drives applied to Electric Vehicles (EV) is presented. This sensorless strategy covers the EV full speed range and also has speed reversal capability. It combines a High Frequency Injection (HFI) technique for low and zero speeds, and a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) for the medium and high speed regions. A solution to achieve smooth transitions between the PLL and the HFI strategies is also proposed, allowing to correctly detect the rotor position polarity when HFI takes part.     This dissertation presents several model predictive control (MPC) techniques and finite-position-set observers (FPSOs) for permanent-magnet synchronous generators and doubly-fed induction generators in variable-speed wind turbines. The proposed FPSOs are novel ones and based on the concept of finite-control-set MPC. Then, the problems of the MPC techniques like sensitivity to variations of the model parameters and others are investigated and solved in this work.Die vorliegende Dissertation stellt mehrere unterschiedliche Verfahren der modellprädiktiven Regelung (MPC) und so genannte Finite-Position-Set-Beobachter (FPSO) sowohl für Synchrongeneratoren mit Permanentmagneterregung als auch für doppelt gespeiste Asynchrongeneratoren in Windkraftanlagen mit variabler Drehzahl vor und untersucht diese. Für die Beobachter (FPSO) wird ein neuartiger Ansatz vorgestellt, der auf dem Konzept der Finite-Control-Set-MPC basiert. The use of sliding mode algorithms ensures fast response and global stability. In particular, two new algorithms are presented, both based on a complex framework for representing three-phase signals. This article compares the obtained algorithms with the traditional schemes, and a faster response is obtained when sliding modes are used. Additionally, as an application example, the algorithm is combined with a complex-coefficient filter that allows an easy identification of both positive and negative sequence harmonics.     Frequency Adaptive Parameter Estimation of Unbalanced and Distorted Power Grid

    Grid synchronization plays an important role in the grid integration of renewable energy sources. To achieve grid synchronization, accurate information of the grid voltage signal parameters are needed. Motivated by this important practical application, this paper proposes a state observer-based approach for the parameter estimation of unbalanced three-phase grid voltage signal. The proposed technique can extract the frequency of the distorted grid voltage signal and is able to quantify the grid unbalances. First, a dynamical model of the grid voltage signal is developed considering the disturbances. In the model, frequency of the grid is considered as a constant and/or slowly-varying but unknown quantity. Based on the developed dynamical model, a state observer is proposed. Then using Lyapunov function-based approach, a frequency adaptation law is proposed. The chosen frequency adaptation law guarantees the global convergence of the estimation error dynamics and as a consequence, ensures the global asymptotic convergence of the estimated parameters in the fundamental frequency case. Gain tuning of the proposed state observer is very simple and can be done using Matlab commands. Some guidelines are also provided in this regard. Matlab/Simulink based numerical simulation results and dSPACE 1104 board-based experimental results are provided. Test results demonstrate the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed approach over another state-of-the art technique
